| 10/25/2012 | parent | Attended parent-teacher conference and walked away feeling depressed. Just about every teacher couldn't remember what class my son was in, and had to look at their notes to refresh their memory. I guess that's what you get when you have a 35:1 teacher ratio. The other problem I have is their acceptance for mediocracy. My son was doing poor in several classes, but when they showed me the class averages, alarms should be going off - but their not. Instead, its all fine and people are accepting of that. This school should lose their accreditation in my opinion, but this is the best they have in Fallbrook. My advice, seek a private or alternative school out side of Fallbrook. |
| 10/25/2012 | parent | I've read the reviews, which I agree with, but there's an additional underlying problem with this school. Its teachers and faculty really show no regard or concern for the students, and its lack of involvement in the affairs of the students. With over 900 students in this small town, the school makes students feel isolated, and can get away with what ever they want. My daughter hates going to that school everyday, and for good reasons - the students and staff make you feel unwelcome and especially the teachers show no concern. We plan on moving our child away next month. Its unfortunate that Potter doesn't step up and do more for its kids. |
| 12/5/2011 | parent | My daugher just started 7th grade. We've already had to consult with the Guidance Counselor and the School Psychologist. This certainly doesn't say much for the school. As others have said, other students do not make my child feel welcome, rather they choose to be bullies. Most of the teachers do not discipline students and do not have control of their classrooms. My student wants to leave the school and the community due to her experience so far at Potter. My older daughter had the same non-sense when she went there 5 years ago. The fallbrook schools are like a cancer that just keeps growing. I fear for the kids that will grow up entirely thru the Fallbrook school system. If you have a choice, I strongly encourage you to go somewhere else. |
| 8/28/2011 | parent | My daughter graduated Potter and transferred to another school district for high school. After a few weeks with her peers and classes in the new district she told me - sadly - that she felt like the students at her new school were taught so much more in junior high than she was. Basically, she had to do a lot of catch up. She was a straight A student at Potter so this says a lot about Potter. |
| 1/26/2010 | parent | I will have to agree'The children do not make you child feel welcome, and some of teachers and office workers are very rude'. Personal experience with some administration staff was extremely unprofessional. Unfortunately, leadership, disipline, and guidance are lacking at this school and the pricipal does very little to address parent concerns. |
| 10/22/2009 | student | best school ever great teachers thet teach you what you need to now!! #1 school :) great friends great campues |
| 8/25/2009 | student | i loved poter! i attended it in seventh grade and its a great scholl. there is alot of activities going on alll the time and the students are rewarded for high grades and a clean campus. i love potter and im sure you wil to! |
| 3/30/2009 | parent | Both my daughters have attended Potter Jr. High, and i found the staff warm and caring, and helpful. As well, it is a beautiful campus, more like a junior college than a middle school. |
| 10/30/2008 | parent | I strongly dislike this school. The children do not make you child feel welcome, and some of teachers and office workers are very rude. My advice, do not send you son/daughter to Potter r. High. |
| 6/25/2008 | parent | Although I had my reservations about sending my son to this school, I was pleasantly surprised to find my son exceeding our expectations in both academics and in our community. My son has had a great career at Potter and I will credited that to the administration and the faculty. Middle school is big and scary but give Potter a chance I think you'll be pleasantly surprised too. |
| 2/29/2008 | parent | My daughter attends and reports that most of her classes are boring. She complains of having to memorize information so that she can regurgitate it on the weekly tests. There is little, if any, classroom discussion of the materials's meaning or importance. She also reports that several of her teachers give out the actual exams with answers that will be taken later in the week, and that the students are instructed to write down the answers when it is test time. BTW, she is in all of their 'honors' classes. |
| 5/12/2005 | parent | I have a mixed idea about this topic. I like some teachers on campus and there waqys of teaching and I dislike other teachers and there way of teaching. Some have real enthusiasm with the kids and some -- as I've been told -- are 'very boring'. |
