5/27/2011studentDon Pedro High school is the red haired step child of Big Oak Flat Unified School District. No football team, no gym, nothing to do. When my brother transferred from Downey High school, he had a B=+ average, but do to lack of courses at DPHS, his credits couldn't be transferred over, and he got an F average. When I graduated, there was only 13 students, and only 3 were girls. I'm a male, this was so frustrating never having a girlfriend. Parents, if you true-ley hate your children, this is the place for them to go. Don Pedro High = Red Neck University.
4/19/2010studentI graduated from this school a few years ago. The small size makes this school a very warm place to attend. The teachers have time for one-on-one attention to help the students excel. While the basketball team may not have the best scores in the league, they certainly have the best players. Since there's only about 60 kids in the school, everyone knows everyone and there's no such thing as 'cliques' and there's no popular v. unpopular or mean-spirited hassling . We're all just people in a big family. Considering all the ridiculous bullying Don Pedro High receives from Tioga (the 'mothership' of the school district) DPHS always manages to stay classy and keep its chin held high. I recommend this school for anyone who wants their child to learn some life lessons about being the underdog and how to work with whatever hand you've been given.
3/25/2009parentThis is still a rather small school but it does finally have a few more students and a gym. The opening ceremony just happened this past week. The district office is now at the school so some improvements have been made. Because of the distance between this school and the other schools in it's district, there is a bit of turmoil between the two high schools, which will hopefully be resolved soon. The teachers are still teaching a multitude of subjects but, most of them do a great job with what they have to work with.
4/6/2005former studentDon Pedro has the potential to be a great school, with small classes sizes and the chance to build personal relationships between student-teacher, parent-teacher, and parent administrator. However, it's size sometimes hurts it. What it needs is strong support from the community and the district office (which happens to be far away) A bond failed to pass a couple years ago which would have brought a much needed gym facility to the school, thus bringing the community together and less of a commute for those who play sports. The staff is supportive. However, they are bogged down with teaching many different courses, sometimes out of their subject area. Many parents choose to send their kids to Mariposa or Sonora High School, causing DP to lose much needed ADA money.
