2/2/2011parentAverage school. Both daughters go there. A lot of teachers are overwhelmed, but overall they do the best they can.
9/6/2010parentOverall, I also feel that Hoover Middle School is an excellent school. My son attended from 6th-8th grade, He received an excellent education and is now more than prepared for the challenges that await him in high school. Most of the staff are courteous and friendly and the parent involvement is great. My daughter will be attending this year 2010-2011, and I wouldn't want her to go anywhere else!!
6/24/2009studentI'm a soon to be Freshmen at Poly High School but I must say, Hoover is probably THE BEST middle school ever. For the past 3 years, I've socialized with students who were kind and smart. Hoover provides the ALPS program that is a greater advantage towards students. The teachers are fabulous and they motivate students to work to their fullest. They are also friendly. The best part about Hoover is their events and activities that everyone enjoys participating in. I would reccomend to ANY 5th grade student to apply to Hoover Middle School.
12/20/2008parentI agree with what everyone has previously said about Hoover middle school. My daughter has been attending Hoover since the 2007-2008 school year. She too is in the Gate/ALPS program and she and I couldn't have picked a better program and middle school! I absolutely love the staff especially the principal Mr. Troyer. Mr. Troyer is the best principal a kid or an adult could have. He is genuine. You can tell that he truly cares for his staff and his students! His friends and family must adore him. Thanks for all you do Hoover middle school teachers and staff!
10/30/2007parentIt has been a privilege to work with a staff and school community that is so dedicated to student achievement and bridging the achievement gap. I would recommend this school to anyone with middle school-aged children. Mr. Troyer is an excellent administrator. I could not be happier!
7/11/2007parentMy daughter just promoted from Hoover M.S. and cannot say enough about Hoover Staff, teachers and Mr. Troyer, the principal. My daughter was in the ALPS program and was challenged academically. She worked hard all three years and was supported by every one of her teachers. The teachers were all accessible and willing to give extra help when requested. The Principal is a fabulous human being. He supports every single Hoover student. He attends every, and I do mean, every school event, sports, music, extra curricular etc... Hoover has a diverse population which was attractive to me as well. Mr. Curtis, the band/symphony/orchestra Director is great. The music students gain so much knowledge and skill in his program. I would highly recommend Hoover Middle school.
9/19/2006parentI would encourage parents to get their child into the ALPS program, by having your child in this program gives them a better opportunity to be selected for one of the better programs in high school. If your child has the abilities and the desire to get involved with sports and any other extracurricular activities the teachers definitely will and do support them. I would encourage parents to stay involved by reviewing your child's assignments, meeting and checking with the teachers concerning your child assignments and participation in class. The principal Mr. Troyer communicates very well with the parents so if you do not get cooperation from the teachers, you can definitely rely on Mr. Troyer. Overall I give Hoover Middle School a B.
1/24/2006parentI have two children in this school, both in the 8th grade. They've been in Hoover since the 6th grade. Prior to enrolling them here I had another option (Hughes) which was closer to home, but I chose Hoover because of two reasons; the first being high academic standards, the second was the personal attention the administration provided during my search. The administration as well as the teachers were very patient with my endless questions and I continue to be amazed at their level of interest and care for the children... to the point that even the custodian has something to offer, albeit in a roundabout way, in the enrichment of the children's experience. My children and I will miss Hoover when they move on to HS next year.
11/25/2005parentThis is a great school. High academic standards and a fabulous faculty. Highly recommended.
4/9/2005parentHoover is a quality school that provides a quality education to children. Since my son has attended Hoover he has improved his behavior and he has regained his educational status. He enjoys learning again and has increased his own expectations of himself. I am pleased with the success Hoover has assisted me in gaining with my son and I believe all parents who put forth a concerted effort towards their child's education will have the same experince!
1/2/2005parentMy child has gone to Hoover Middle School for 3 years in the ALPS program. The ALPS program is a program geared toward GATE and high acheiving students. The school has been a great choice for my child. The teachers are excellent and teach at a high school/college level. The teachers have full credentials and have some Graduate degrees. The students in my child classes are more or less just like her. All did very well in Elemetary School or are GATE identified. I did not have to worry about 'bad' influences from her friends or classmates. My child will graduate to high school at the end of this coming June. Becasue of the schooling, my child had been given a choice of any High School in the District. With all that my child has learned high school will be a goal achieved. Then the real challenge will be college.
