| 4/8/2012 | parent | This school is fantastic! All the systems are same as private school. I can't believe it!!! |
| 8/28/2011 | parent | Newport Coast is amazing! There is a great academic program and there is a new principal. All the teachers care about their students equally. I say Newport Coast is a great public school! |
| 10/14/2010 | parent | OUTSTANDING school. My girls used to attend Peters Canyon and dreaded school. They fell behind due to a very turbulent divorce. NCE caters to their students individual needs. The staffs dedication and concern not only shows, but for our family has made a world of a difference. My girls now LOVE school and LOVE to learn!! |
| 4/27/2010 | parent | Most teachers at NCE are great but unfortunately some teachers are little TOO spoiled compared to what other teachers have to go through. |
| 2/6/2010 | parent | LOVE this school! The academic environment is geared towards challenging those who need more, helping those who are struggling, and of course gently pushing those right in between. The teachers are dedicated and the principle has a tough job, but does it with class and great skill. |
| 5/21/2009 | parent | This school is awesome! My sons teacher is truly amazing. She truly cares about my son and has been so helpful and instrumental in his academic achievements. The principal is a very caring individual and it transcends throughout the whole of the school and thru the teachers. |
| 5/5/2009 | parent | This is a fabulous school. The principal is constantly involved, positive, and encouraging to all students. |
| 5/19/2008 | teacher | I am so proud to be a teacher at Newport Coast. I have been in education for many years, and it is an honor to work with such a dedicated staff. We strive to support our students with love and respect. We create engaging, thought provoking lessons, in order to foster critical thinking and other invaluable skills in our classrooms. We need to teach to the standards and provide all students with access to the curriculum. We have to balance the needs of English Language Learners, with special needs students, as well as develop challenging enrichment for our GATE students, and still reaching and supporting our at grade level learners. Parking may not be great, but if that is the greatest concern at our school, then we are doing pretty well. |
| 3/24/2008 | parent | I couldn't be happier with NCE. My child attended private schools, but we have found that NCE is just as good. Parental involvement makes a school, and this school has it. The parents that complain are the parents that have problem kids, and aren't involved in the school. |
| 1/23/2008 | parent | New to NCE this year and am planning to go somewhere else next year! Too hard to drop-off and pick up as the school was not built to support the number of students that are there. No parking and the atmosphere is very 'clicky.' Not the friendly, down-to-earth feeling we were hoping for! |
| 1/3/2008 | parent | This school is trying hard to be like private schools they compete with in the area. There is no way to do it if they continue to teach to tests and try to score higher to look better to the state standards. The inconsistancey in the abilities of the teaching staff is another problem. Its a real hit or miss depending on who the teacher is. |
| 3/14/2007 | parent | The school is new, clean, and located in a great neighborhood. However, I feel the school lacks challenges and extracurricular activities. I am considering relocating b/c I had higher expectations from this school and am now greatly disappointed. |
| 8/15/2006 | parent | The academic programs at NCE are geared to the average student. There are few challenges or programs available for high achieving students. There is a good 'Art Masters' program however the school is lacking in music. Parental involvement is great. Parking at the school and access to the school for parents is poor. There is a new principal starting at the school and we are hoping for the best! |
| 9/6/2005 | parent | I think PTA of this shool is very active, and many parents try to help them. The teachers I met was very nice, too. |
| 8/20/2005 | parent | Academic programs are ok. The principal is very week and only cares about the lower grades. Principal does not have the skill to hire good teachers. Upper grades are very week and the children are not prepared to go to 7th grade at the local Junior/ High School. The only good thing about Newport Coast is the location and the parent involvement. My child is a high average student who never has had a problem in school. Compared to the other elementary school in the area I feel Newport Coast needs a new principal. I have had other children attend Lincoln Elementary and I feel it is a far superior and that is because the they have had excellent principals. Thank you. |
| 8/19/2005 | parent | I think this school is well suited for the primary grades. The upper grades especially 5th and 6th are sorely lacking a strong academic program. This school concetrates its time, efforts and monies on the primary grades. The principal does not respond well to parental concerns. The administrative staff needs to be more parent friendly. |
| 8/18/2005 | parent | I believe the parent involvement is very good, unfortunately, the principal doesnt take a very deep interest in the school needs. |
| 6/22/2005 | parent | My children did well, but the school needs to focus more to the basics and not asking for donations. Taxes pay for education the kids need. The teachers need to teach not get pulled out for meetings. Too many fundraisers, too many early outs, and holiday/inservice days. |
| 5/19/2005 | parent | This is brand new school in a great neighborhood. The facilities are clean, but there are large class sizes and parents are fighting to get their children into this school. |
| 5/3/2005 | parent | NCE is a new school that needs to work out the kinks. The educational expectations of the children are far beyond what state standards dictate. The teachers are extremely hard working and dedicated and work very long hours. Office staff and the principal are hard to connect with. The parent community is very involved. |
| 5/2/2005 | teacher | The teachers are great, but the principal lacks leadership. Unfortunately because of this many of the teachers are leaving. |
| 4/22/2005 | parent | Principal avoids tough decisions, academic quality excellent, great parent participation, extracurricular great but limited with extra at additional cost, teachers give wish list at beginning of year including paper and pencils - budget woes but please don't recall prop 13 or we're moving out of state. |
| 2/1/2005 | teacher | This school is great because of the wonderful teachers and the great programs provided by parent support. The NCC foundation helps raise money so the student have access to programs like art, technology and music not funded in public education any more. |
| 11/2/2004 | parent | I love this school. It's new. staff is excellent. BLUE RIBBON |
| 4/22/2004 | parent | My children attended this school from its very first day until this past year (2003-2004). I found the Principal to be highly motivated, a great leader, and fabulous with kids. Parents are highly involved and so are the teachers. Uniforms were a plus from both safety and behavior standpoints. Public schools don't get much better than this. |
