| 5/16/2011 | parent | Congratulations to PVIS 2010-2011California Distinguished School, the only school in the district that recieved this award. There are 3 Honor classes in math , science and language arts offered for 8th grade for the highly academic. School is located in the richer side of the hill, snob appeal is apparent like the high school. |
| 9/23/2010 | other | Terrible representation of a school, needs to shape up their academic classes and also add a wider selection of extracurricular classes. District need help. |
| 3/28/2010 | parent | The best school ever! My kids are excelling in all of their classes so far due to how the teachers care so much. |
| 9/28/2009 | parent | I am a new parent to public schools and I am very satisfied with PVIS. The teachers and staff are very qualified and helpful. I also came from a private school and I am surprised at the high level of education my children are getting at PVIS. |
| 9/22/2009 | parent | The new principal Frank Califano is excellent. We have a new assistant principal as well. We did not lose any teachers 2009-2010 from the budger cut. Mrs. O is a the best music teacher with more that 270 kids in band/orchestra. The school is safe overlooking the ocean. There is a Chinese program for second language. The math club is wonderful volunteered by Mrs. Thom with award winning students. The honors and accelerated classes are challenging. I cannot believe this is a public school. I moved my kids from a private school nearby to this public middle school because it is so close to home. I cannot believe they are getting the same education and better without the huge price tag. I have to pinch myself sometimes. My kids love the school and look forwared to go everyday. |
| 10/14/2008 | student | PVIS is awesome!! Woo! 1 of very few top schools in south bay!! Sea Kings rule!! |
| 6/9/2007 | student | I go to this school, and it provides so much education for children in 6th - 8th grade. I moved from Rancho Palos Verdes to Palos Verdes Estates just to go to this school! If you are coming from a different country, they help ESL (English as a Second Language) as well. The teachers are well chosen. I hope many more people will enjoy the thrill of PVIS like I have!!! (currently in 6th grade) |
| 3/11/2007 | parent | Love this school! My child didn't have any friends there coming out of elementary school. He has so many new and nice friends. We call it the happy school. The teachers are over and above what to expect. |
| 5/7/2006 | parent | The school is excellent, we moved from LAUSD, where they don't teach but convey the material like the kids are in college and expect them to learn with little teaching. They don't give second chances. At PVIS, the teachers are genuine and try to teach the kids, it is a supportive and rewarding environment and conducive learn vs. the punitive feel of LAUSD schools. |
| 3/31/2005 | parent | My child attended PVIS for 3 years. She attended regular classes but struggles. The environment was very poor for her. Counceling was weak. Bullying and harrassment were severe and not addressed pro-actively. Teachers frequently complained of too many students so they cannot provide individual help required for success. I was suprised at the situation for a Palos Verdes School. |
| 3/21/2005 | parent | fantastic academics. great campus overlooking ocean. maybe a little more parent help would be good. |
| 2/2/2004 | parent | PVIS is definitely a school of high standards. The school benifits from some very dedicated and excellent teachers and lots of parent involvement. |
| 10/24/2003 | parent | PVIS is not only a great school, it is a California Distinguished School - an award which is well deserved by its faculty, staff, students, parent volunteers, and especially it's Principal, Diawn Stanley. Mrs. Stanley's dedication to the students of PVIS, and the school itself, is far more impressive than any other person in her position that I've ever met. Thank you Mrs. Stanley, and everyone involved with making our school the best it can be for our kids! |
| 10/1/2003 | parent | I have found the staff to be friendly and the principal to be approachable. Only one of my child's teachers is rough around the edges and overly strict. |
| 9/15/2003 | parent | This school has done the very best with what they had; under construction for a full year, not even water for the first month. I use the 80/20 rule to rate the teachers; 80% are outstanding and will never stand in the shadow of the 20% that are not. Our gifted child with learning disabilities has needed a few changes along the way, from teachers to case carriers and the principal cheerfully provided the necessary environment so that our child could succeed. |
| 9/9/2003 | parent | The back-to-school letter from the principal was so poorly written it made me cringe! And why must we fill out the same registration information over and over and over again? This stuff has to be computerized somewhere. Just send us a sheet with our info on it each year and let us update if necessary. |
| 8/28/2003 | parent | I think the Mrs Stanley the principal is doing a great job considerng all the reconstruction of her school, which just opened last year. |
| 8/28/2003 | parent | Palos Verdes Intermediate School is a fabulous school. Any child that is lucky enough to be enrolled will get an incredible education. My daughter is a sophmore at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School and was quite prepared to make the step into high school. Diawn Stanley, the principal is a trusting and caring individual and puts the thoughts and feelings of her students first. My two boys coming up through the PVIS ranks are flourishing under the PVIS Staffs guidance. Thank you for all you do to make all of our kids better students and individuals. |
| 8/26/2003 | parent | The school itself is good. The staff is unfriendly and hostile. The principal is unresponsive to parental concerns. |
| 8/26/2003 | parent | I love PVIS. The kids are bright and kind. The school is extremely safe. The teachers and the staff really show they care about the kids and their education. We moved here just to go to school in this district and we are not disappointed! |
| 8/10/2003 | parent | PVIS has been a decent intermediate school for my two daughters, however, they could use better school counselors who were more available to the students (and parents). Additionally, some of the older teachers need to be encouraged to retire sooner. |
| 6/26/2003 | | The teachers are great. But, the Principal at this school, Mrs. Stanley is hostile to many parents and to the needs of special education students and really should be replaced at the earliest possible time. |
| 5/13/2003 | | very happy with this school. My 6th grader is on the honor roll every semester. |
