| 10/17/2012 | parent | If I could give them a ZERO, I would. They let children physically fight each other with no consequences (have seen this first hand), they have no accountability for teachers or students, and the parent communication is HORRIBLE. I got confronted by an upset parent throwing out accusations at me, and the school didn't seem concerned. The parent accused my child of bullying (he was not, could not be farther from the truth, there was another child he mistaked my kid for), the principal had gotten a call from the parent, but did not feel it was important to let the parent of the child know, so they decided to yell at me for it. There are a few rare gems at this school, a HANDFUL of caring teachers and staff, but for the most part, you have over-worked teachers that don't care about their students or parents. Had multiple parent/teacher/principal conferences before pulling my child out to a better school. Could not pay me to bring my child back here, STAY AWAY! |
| 1/10/2010 | parent | We love Bard! I have a 4th and 2nd grader. The principal, teachers and staff are wonderful and caring. Don't let the low rating scare you; Bard s really a great school. And if you're military and planning to live on the Hueneme base, it's a short walk off base -- bonus! |
| 11/16/2007 | parent | My oldest has been in this school for the past 5 and a half years. I have loved all of his teachers and he has done very well with all of them. He has been in the GATE program this year and last year and is also in Band. This is my younger son's second year. He is in the dual language program and loves it. Bard has so much to offer it's kids and parents. They have so many programs and help available. I love the teachers, staff and principal. |
| 5/9/2006 | teacher | Great school. Very involved PTA and supportive teachers. |
| 4/27/2006 | parent | Bard School is wonderful. I have been so impressed with the staff. |
| 4/1/2006 | parent | I can honestly say that Bard School is the best school my children have attended! The staff is great! The principal is loving, caring & fair. The children are learning and enjoying school. The 3rd grade put on a dance performance every year. There is a dance club for those intrested. We also have the GATE program. The children are given rewards for earning AR points which they love! Flag Gathering every 1st Friday is great! We as parents get to come out and say the pledge with our children and see some awards given. I know that you will be happy at Bard - just like we are! |
| 5/18/2005 | parent | This has been my daughters first year at Bard and she loves it. Mrs. Dugas and Mrs. Walthall are wonderfull, I couldn't have asked for better teachers. My daughter (who is in Kindergarden) has started writing sentences and paragraphs and can read better than some 2nd graders I have met. Again the Kindergarden teachers have gone above and beyond and I believe that my daughter will continue to do well in school thanks to the great start she has gotten at Bard. Oh, most importantly, she not only does well in school but she loves to go. |
| 2/23/2004 | parent | I have 2 childeren in the school my youngest in 1st and the other in 3rd. I love their teachers. With my oldest who has the most difficulty with school his teacher Mrs. Galloway always keeps me informed of his improvement or his failures and keeps constant contact with my self and my husband which most teachers I've seen don't. Now with my daughters teacher 'Mrs. A' she has an oustanding way of getting her class and other students into learning new things and has always gotten my help in any means with the learning process. All in all I love the Bard School and staff they are a bonus to any student who goes there with an exceptional and most concerned principal Mrs. Apia. Any child who attends Bard will most benifit in their education. Thank you. |
| 5/16/2003 | | My daughter's teacher Mark Lakeman has been an instrumental part of our lives. His expertise in teaching has keep the whole class on their toes on wanting to learn as much as they can absorb in a school year. I look forward to having my other kids going through his door of knowlegde. He truly is a precious gift to our kids in the community. This school district has a walking treasure in room 5. Keep up the superb work. With respect, Jose Mendoza |
