3/28/2012parentMy son has gone to Shasta Meadows K-2nd and I love it! The Principal is wonderful and is always so involved with his students and some how seems to even know almost all the students names if not all! I have a huge problem with the way the women in the office have treated me, I don't think I have ever seen a positive side from them, the dark haired young girl is so outright rude to me everytime I have gone in there with even rude comments when I informed her of a small problem! I really have enjoyed my son attending this school and as far as seperated families, we are one and the teachers and principal have done very well with comunicating with both parents, with sending forms to both homes and setting up seperate teacher parent meetings and just all around far!
2/10/2011parentThe staff and teachers at this school are not good at communicating with divorced parents/families, other than Mrs. Ward who was a wonderful teacher for my son. Mrs. Ward was the only teacher who took initiative to communicate with me regarding my son's progress even though both my ex husband and I have joint legal custody of our son. The staff when I have called act as though they do not have to be understanding of the fact that not all the children in their schools have both parents living in the same house or city for that matter. They need to get better at communicating with both of the children's parents and get with the millenium, you would think that they would understand that anymore there are a wide arrange of unique families, some children even being raised by their aunts and uncles or grandparents.
1/5/2009parentI attended Shasta Meadows from 1st grade to 5th. Now my 5 year old goes there and his K teacher was my 4th grade teacher. My favorite.Mr. Grady. I have one incident this year on the play ground he was playing tug a war by a picinc table and turned as the kid let go and knocked out his 4 front teeth and broke the bone. I got a call from the nurse and said he had hurt his face and I should come down there. They kept me calm. When I got there my son was comforted and was being takin care of. He had to have emergency surgery to pull the teeth.. But the staff and the pricipal was unbelivably comforting . The pricipal called to chck on him and so did the staff. I love this school!! Thank you!!
4/29/2008parentI'm not exactly sure what the deal is with the parents whom dislike the school. My only reservations on Shasta Meadows were before my kids attended and no thanks to this site. I have had an absolutely phenomenal experience at this particular school. We moved from a great school in Chico to this one with only 10 weeks left of school and I was worried...that is until I was greeted by the friendliest staff I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The principal came out immediately, introduced herself, and proceeded to take the kids directly to their teachers for a personal one on one introduction. Both teachers (1st and 5th) are amazing and I haven't a qualm about them. The school has sports as well which I believe to be an integral part of social learning in these important developmental years. Bah humbug to anyone who disagrees !
3/11/2006parentHigh marks for academic testing standards. Low PTO involvement. Emphasis on organization of study time and materials in 4th & 5th. Great reading program. Not enough spaces for eager but inadept students to play extracurricular sports.
1/12/2006parentLike other parents, I am sure that I am a bit bias when it comes to Shasta Meadows. There are many teachers that are just absolutely wonderful. They put the needs of the children first. Many of the teachers realize that not all children learn at the same rate, and they take that to heart when teaching their students. The PTA try all the time to recruit parents to come to meetings, their just isn't a lot of parent participation when it comes to that, maybe it is just because many of us have so many things to do. But as far as parental participation in the classroom, I have see a lot of support. I don't even live in the school district anymore, but I love the school and the teachers so much that I drive my children everyday just so they can be a part of something so great!
8/3/2005parentMy children have been going to this school since they were in Kindergarten. The staff is great and the child are well supervised. The teachers help each child base on their needs. I have recently moved into another schools disctrict but I continue to drive my child who since attends to the best school in Redding.
4/20/2004parentThis school is amazing! I have a 2nd grader and 4th. The teachers keep me informed of all activities, and assignments. I have been to others in this area, and this school is the best. The principle is very involed and has called to inform me of wonderful behavior, not bad. He knows all of the children and the parents. I will miss this school. Thank you Shasta Meadows!
