11/19/2011studentI have had 6 of my family members attend this school at different times, and all of them going from oldest to youngest have seen this school try to do much better each year. I have been attending this school now and have seen how much they changed since they first opened. I get lost of help from all the teachers, and lots of after school help as well. Everyone has been nothing but kind to me my whole experience attending
5/31/2010parentI have three sons and they all enjoy going to this school although they do have complaints about some of their teachers. I see a lot of girls wearing inappropriate attire which should be stopped and sexting is going on too. I am sure this goes on in all the schools these days which is very unfortunate. Just be aware.
4/1/2009parentMy daughter is a graduating senior at this school. She transferred from Corona Centennial and quickly made friends with some great kids. Their is great diversity amongst the students and awesome counselors. A great learning environment.
9/1/2008studentI went to king high from 2004-2008 and I had a very bad high school experience. The school was very crowded and some of the students were rude.
7/23/2007studentI'm going to be a 10th grader this year and so far this school is great! I have nice firends and some great teachers but there is always a downside. King High School is way to crowed and with the 6 period schedule that we are changing to will only just hurt us in the long run. I'm going to be in Musical Theater this year and I have to choose between, Choir or finshing my two years of Spainsh off.
7/14/2007parentits good, but it is strict
2/1/2007parentI think that this school is great the teachers care and the students also care about their education. The staff and teachers help the students and set good examples.
9/19/2006parentThe drop your kid off area changes are ridiculous. Closing that area off creates more dangers for the children than it eliminates.
4/11/2006parentAs a parent of 2 king h.S. Graduates I speak from experience....This is one great school with top notch teachers and administrators.
4/10/2006parentI love Martin Luther King High School. My child has a brain injury requiring special education accommodations. The staff has been so wonderful to her and so willing to help her. I communicate with them via email about once a month. They are always willing to communicate iwth concerned parents. Our expereince has been wonderful
7/18/2005parentThis school has alot of potential. Although still new.
5/6/2005parentMy son has had tremendous athletic opportunities at Kings High School. His been involved in Varsity Football, Tennis and Track. He also has a 3.7 GPA. This all considering we changed schools when he only received one credit in grade 9. Kings offers alot to students who are willing to seek it out.
2/19/2005parentI remove my daughter after one semester. She entered King High as an Honor Student and in the first semester had trouble keeping her grades up. I asked for help from teachers and counselor. They were disinterested and stated that it was my daughters responsiblilty. Maybe it is but as a new 9th grader there must be ajustment periods and help available to make the adjustment. My daughter came to me and told me that she did not think she would get into college if she stayed at King High. So we removed her a enrolled her in Eaglespeak public charter school. We have been able to customize her class schedule to give her the electives that will enhance her college resume. She wants to go to Fashion Institute in L.A. King High wants only children that are easy to teach and they rest are on their own.
5/23/2004parentMLK is not a great school. It looks like a prison and thats exactly how the teachers treat the children, like they're in prison. My daughter went there for one semester but we transfered. I wouldn't suggest that anyone send their child to this school.
9/21/2003parentoverall, king is more than ok. the one thing i am not satisfied with is the english program. i have thought this since my kids were in grade school. there needs to be more emphasis on writing. for instance, sentence structure is completely overlooked. too much is in the way of esthetics is considered important such as typing rather rather than content. some of this is the school but unfortunately much of it come from sacramento on setting the curriculum.
8/19/2003parent All the school programs, core to extracurricular, AP to sports, are excellent. I like best that 94% of the teachers are credentialed and 90% of the parents are actually a part of their child's daily life. And now Karen Stevenson's appointment as principal - with her record of excellence - I expect MLK will rank as the best high school in Riverside County. My son (Danny will be in 10th grade this year) plays in band, has many friends, makes excellent grades and is dead serious about which college he should attend. If this is what MLK has fostered...one grateful Father says Thank you.
