7/28/2010studentThis school as a whole is B in my opinion. I have gone here for one and a half years, and the manner in which they deal with problems throughout the school is excellent. The teachers whom i have encountered have given ample opportunity for students with self induced emotional or mental stigmatisms to "catch up". However, students who wished to get ahead of the curriculum had not been helped. Some areas of the academic programs had not been a challenge where, due to my own circumstances, others were a serious task. I believe that this school can be improved with more experienced teachers yet is still a school that i would send my child, were i to have any. :) -Glenn Robinson
3/16/2010parentI think this is a great School if you, as a parent are involved. The administration is excellent and the principle is outstanding. Many of the teachers will give extra attention to the students who are interested in getting better grades. If you expect the school to do all the work do us a favor don't send your kids here.
3/10/2010studentLook i just graduated 2009, and i wish i picked a better school to go to. The only thing good about this school is the soccar team and mr. Eick. Some of the teachers seem to pick and choose what kids will succeed, then focus all attention to those certain students. I hated that school but mr. Eick is the only reason i stayed, he made sure i stayed on track with my work. I love mr. Eick and without him natomas high would have been a waste of time.
4/29/2009parentMy two children have both attended Natomas High. The school has been a positive influence on each. The school has great leadership that keeps parents informed through multiple mediums so you know what is going on at the school on a daily basis. You can view attendance immediatly and interact with your child immediatly as situations arise so your student can suceed. My first daughter has gone on to college and my second is graduating with honors this year and has been accepted at multiple colleges. There experiances at Natomas High has been instrumental in both pursuing higher education. As a parent I would like to thank the staff at Natomas as a whole. I am just a parent who is very busy an not as involved as I would like with the school. I am involved with my child at home and I follow up on there work and attendance.
4/24/2009studentlol dis school is kool teachers giv u da chance to succeed its up to the students if they want to fail other than tht theres fights that happen here and there nothing uncontrollable though
3/5/2009studentNatomas high school is a ver nice school which has clean campus i myself was a student at natomas high school. For my freshmen year first semester climax there is very fun and a great place to be and to get to learn students there are very friendly and are willing to make new friends. I go to rio linda senior high school now and i hate it compared to natomas high school so. Parents if your lookin for a great school sign your child to natomas high school hopefully ill return there my senor year to spend the year with my old friends class of 2011!
11/11/2008teacherWith our new adminstration, hard workinf inteligent teachers and supportive counseling snd office staff, this school is hoppin' to the top. Come check us out!!
9/11/2008parentNatomas High School saved my daughter's life literally in 2006. She was a struggling freshman from another town and didn't feel comfortable asking for help. Once we the parents and the school knew of the entire problems they went above and beyond what our old school district would have. I moved her up here just to attend Natomas High School. She is now a Senior who passed her CASHEE the first time both parts and this year has a 4.0 GPA. This year will be the best year for her since the new principal took over. Mr. Eick loves NHS and its staff and students. All of the students know Mr. Eick by sight and he knows almost every student as well not because of bad behavior but because of school spirit. He has helped the students develop pride in themselves and their school. GO NIGHTHAWKS
7/22/2008parentNew principal, Jonhn Eick, is an outanding dedicated, educator. Brings a ton of enthusiasm that will raise student and TEACHER morale. Needs support of parents to be successful.
7/20/2008studentI actually really like going to natomas. I'm a senior and ive been going there all four years. It's very safe. I like the school's environment, everyone is friendly and you won't be bullied if you go here. Most are really good teachers but there are some exceptions of course. I think the english department has the best teachers. One of the teachers won the award for best foreign language teacher nationally, so that's a pretty important thing. The new principal is great, I didn't even now what the old one looked like! The only thing I really don't like about Natomas is the lack of communication between school officials, students, and parents. You have to come to them, or you'll never know when things are happening. All in all, I definately think that Natomas High School is the best public high school in the area.
1/3/2008studentNatomas High isn't that bad. I am currently attending there as a freshman student. Most of the problems are caused by the students. The teachers are very nice and helpful. They give you many chances to turn in work and to succeed. Most of the students don't take these chances. Parents also only hear what their kids say and if their kids are having trouble they think the whole school is bad. That's not true. They offer honors classes.
8/29/2007parentI stand in the middle because I see the potential of a school like Natomas High. I graduated from a very small private school and I can appriciate the activity of a large school. Unfortunately, I was concerned because of its size. I will not say that its all bad but, there is room for improvement. I would even be open to working on com. to help make suggestion to improve the school such as the lunch time, orientation and other necessary events. Also how and when Principles and Administration is introduced. I talked to other students and a lot didn't know what the Principle looked like or who he or she was. This is not good. But, before I point and complain sign me up I'm willing to help when I can and do what I can.
8/23/2007parentNothing but trouble, prinicpals have no clue. The sports program is overatied. Do not send your kids here.
5/9/2007parentMy daughter transferred in from Edison High in Fresno, CA. She was unable to get classes that compare to the advanced level of education at Edison. I am very disappointed. The schools in this district appear to teach to a test instead of making quality education the goal.
3/25/2007studentAs a current student of Natomas High I look at the comments left by parents and am bewildered. Yes Natomas has it's share of problems, but the majority of them have to do with the students. The teachers go above and beyond to make sure that students understand. The teachers and administration are always accessible. The problems have to do with the students and their drive to succeed. If a student is having problems they choose not to say anything to their teacher or ask for help. Once a student speaks up, the teacher is more than willing to spend extra time with the student, whether that be at lunch or tutoring after school. Another problem are the parents. Parents don't get involved in the students education until there is a problem. If more students strived to succeed the school would run more efficiently and easily.
6/22/2005parentThis school is getting off to a great start. If they can hang on to the current administration and continue to build on the spirit that the class of 2005 left behind and the traditions, NHS will be a school to be proud to have graduated from. Go nighthawks!
6/15/2005studentI think this is a great new school. It has great quality of acidemic programs. If I had children I would want them to go to this school.
1/16/2005parentI thought this school was great. my child is a freshman, first year there and that couldn't be far from the truth. the teachers are so-so and the sports coaches are not professional at all. this school is all about putting on a great face so to speak when in reality the things that go on there are about the worst i have ever saw. school looks nice but i wouldn't recommend it to my worse enemy. i am in the process of a transfer for my daughter.
11/27/2004studentUnder-funded school w/ over worked teachers, underachieving students. Not enough money for paper but enough for a live band at lunch once a month. More focused on sports than education. Securtiy is good but too strict on everyone and not enough on some. Rather go to Rocklin.
8/27/2004parentTeachers have no control of students in this school. Fights break out in class and teachers are not able to break them up, they wait until security gets there. Teachers do not teach at times they sit at their desks and do nothing and do not speak to the students. A language teacher started saying 'God I wish these kids would just shut up!'. When the math teacher teaches math the students do not understand but the teacher continues to move forward and not care that they did not understand. Food lines are very long as all grades are at lunch at the same time.
6/1/2004former studentI graduated from Natomas two years ago in the top 1% of my class. I took advantage of many of the programs offered, and excelled. All of my classes were Honors, or AP, and the experience I received from my classes has helped me in College beyond anyones imagination. The teachers, not all, but most, truly do care. I think the majority of the failures at Natomas, have to do with the lack of a firm administration, communication between faculty and staff, and low standards for the average student. A 16 year old can do a lot if he or she has the push, and the backing they need. When someone does not expect much, students don't put out, and they become bored and are not forced to try. I think, this is the case with Natomas. The resources (teachers/programs) are there, but not properly put to use.
3/23/2004parentAfter graduation, I went straight to a highly regarded four year university. Although the administration is often inaccessible to students, my four years at Natomas were helpful stepping stones to university life. The comments made by parents who have written about Natomas not providing adequate education for success in a four year college, I beg to differ. Natomas has provided me with an education which will assist me to further my academic career. The teachers at Natomas are the best; they go the extra mile for their students and some. After meeting many new people from all over the country, I have come to realize I was lucky to have gone to such a diverse school; learning diversity and tolerance is education you cannot learn from a classroom or textbook it is education you learn through daily interactions with people of different cultures/ethnicities, interaction which is common on campus.

3/22/2004studentStandards are too low compared with some other schools in other areas. Also, I believe that way too many teachers are too inexperienced. The office faculty is also very diorganized.
1/29/2004studentThis year will be my last year at Natomas High School...not because I don't like it but because I am a Senior! After reading the previous reviews, I was really surprised. Perhaps it is the parents commenting on only the once in a while times they needed to contact the school. The principal is cool. The teachers are great. The counselors are organized. The education is good. So what is the problem? Well let me tell you this...It is the parents who are a part of the problem. The parents need to become more involved with school activities. You can't comment on this school and how it is run unless you spend a couple days, in every part of the campus! Then you'll really see all the great action inside. The students are another part of the problem. While there may be a group of students who have dreams and goals of going to college, and strive for the best, there are also others who dont really care of what the teacher is saying or what classes need to be taken. Teachers arent shown the kind of respect they deserve. As a student, I have seen such rude students myself and wonder if the student is like this, I wonder what the parent is like. Parents should also play a role in their student's education, if not help on homework, at least encourage and support your student. Overall, the education is good. The extracurricular activities are fun, and the staff is awesome.
1/19/2004parentThis is our last year at Natomas and we are all very glad. Our experience at this school and district have not been pleasant. As one person stated, from the front desk all the way to the principal. We have consistantly been let down every time we have contacted the teachers or administrative dept concering our child. If they do return your calls it is to say 'it is not our fault' I had 1 teacher at this school tell me that she knew my child was having difficulty, but because my child was not trying to kill themself, they did not have to notify us, even though we had be trying to get help for our childs low grades. One of the counselers also told me that 'it wasn't his job to talk to our child about their future'. That is just a small sampling of how things seem to work at Natomas school district and we are glad to be leaving.
11/27/2003otherAs a curent student of Natomas High School, I feel that most of the people that have been leaving comments on the site aren't fully informed on how the school functions. There are several problems with the school, and there are numerous amounts of teachers with inadequate teaching experience, but Natomas High School is overall a very good school if you put the time and effort into making it the best it can be.
11/14/2003parentThis is our second year at Natomas, and were very disappointed in the district as well as the school. It seem to me that the standards are very low. I worry that when my child graduates and heads off to collage she will not be ready. I think next year our daughter will attend a private school.
11/1/2003otherI was in the 1st graduating class from this school. Sadly, based upon the previous comments, things haven't changed a whole lot. How long is it going to take to get things on the right track?! I moved out of state back to Wisconsin and have worked within the school systems here. In all honesty, there have been times I've wondered how I was able to graduate from a university given the quality of education and educators that I was given to me. Something needs to be done here Natomas! Nighthawk pride forever!
9/9/2003parentI am not too sure about the principal and at least one counselor. However, I want to commend all that have come through for my child`s academic sucess. Security is A+
8/31/2003parentThe communication is horrible between the parents and the school. Report cards are never mailed on time. The funding for sports has been cut from the budget $200,000.00. The counselors are very disorganized. The participation of the teachers at school function is waste of time (ex: Back to School Night). It appears that there is a lot of prejudice from the teachers, it seems like that don't care for the student's well being. They are just there for a pay check. I don't know if it because of most of the students are minority and they feel as if though they can't learn or that they are waiting on the new high school to open and then they will be more involved. Only the kids are going to suffer!
8/26/2003former studentAs an ex-student I have seen the school from both inside and out, within the classrooms the teachers do put emotional well being and educational well being above all else. It seems that these parents are not fully informed on everything that goes on within the school and are making these statements after only hearing from their kids... A word of advice, 'Don't speak, on what you don't know'
8/20/2003parentNatomas High had such great expectations. Sadly, it has fallen significantly short on providing quality education and lacks adequate preparation for our kids' advancement to higher institutions of learning. Economics, mis-management, lack of teacher dedication, budget cuts, security, opportunity for parent involvement, add up to a 'D' on this school's report card.
8/10/2003parentWhat I see does not surprise me. The teachers and administrators seem to come first and formost, not the kids or their emotional and educational well being.
8/2/2003parentFor what I have seen so far, I am very disappointed in. It seems that the concerns for the children's educational and emotional well-being needs great improvement. Since when did a child's needs come last?!?!
7/29/2003parentI feel that this particular school & it's staff are too concerned about the'test scores' far more than our childrens safety & their futures. In dealing with the staff, I felt a great deal of prejudicialness, from the lady at the front desk all the way up to the principal.
