11/9/2011parentI have two daughters that have attended the schools in this district starting in kindergarten. My youngest is now in 7th grade and all of a sudden there is a huge issue with dress code. For some reason, the administration and the teachers seem to think that all of the boys that attend school here are perverts. My child has been wearing t-shirts and leggings to school for the past 7 years and now all of a sudden, she is being forced to change into her PE closes or sent home because her attire is too revealing. Funny, she is the most modest child I know and dresses strictly for comfort. The conduct from many of the teachers this year have been less than adequate also. I am not sure if it's a power trip or what but this school is changing and not for the better.
12/17/2010otherthis school is amazing! i transferd into 6th grade just last year, at first i was nervous, but after first period i felt so at home with everyone, nobody was rude or mean. the classes there are fantastic, with inspiring teachers, great class mates, i am so sad that i will be leaving next year!! not only are the academics set at a high level that if you put your mind to it you can pass with an A+ the sports there are great. it is so exciting to go to the games, make signs, and cheer on the team with lots of OAKS pride. i see no faults in this school. it is so excelent, and high achieving, i would recomend this school to anyone.
6/22/2010otherI attend SMBS and I love it!! The teachers are great. They all have a reletionship with every student. The sports they have are also great: soccer, volleyball, basketball, golf, tennis, and track and field. I was on the Track and Field team this year. It was a great experience. The students don't judge each other and respect each other's skill. The acedemic level is also great. We have a great library and computer lab to help with projects.

9/19/2009parentFantastic academics, terrific staff and a small school environment.
9/19/2009parentSmall size, dedicated teachers and staff, great science lab
9/19/2009parentSan Benancio has a wonderful faculty and staff. Everyone works together on the behalf of each and every student to help each student reach his or hers potential. SBMS is a safe and wonderful place!
9/18/2009parentMy 3 kids all attended San Benancio Middle School. I can't Thank the Teachers enough for preparing my children for High School. They are all excelling in academics as well as other areas in their lives. They are one special group of Teachers and we are all grateful! I also think highly of the rest of the Staff at San Benancio. San Benancio has a great team of people working there which makes for a GREAT school!
9/17/2009parentThe campus is great, but it's the teachers and staff that make our school outstanding. They are dedicated, hard working, warm people who make a tremendous effort to get to know each student.
9/17/2009parentGreat small town feel with high level academics
9/17/2009studentSBMS is a California Distringuished School. All of my friends are there. All of the classes are fun, educational, and easy.
9/17/2009parentI loved the teachers. How well they taught and interacted with the students so that they were able to learn alot more.
5/21/2009parentSMBS is one of the best middle schools in Monterey County. It's accademic standards are high and they expect all students to be up to these standards. Teachers are great but to my opinion they need to be available after school for students that are struggling or falling behind.
3/22/2006parentSBMS is a wonderful school. It is small and nurturing, so student needs can be adequately addressed. The staff is caring, and meets regularly to discuss instructional and academic goals that support strong student achievement for all students. Class sizes are limited, so teachers can effectively reach all students -- few students 'fall through the cracks' at SBMS. The academic programs of the school are outstanding. The school ranks highest of all middle schools in the county in terms of academic achievement. Athletic and fine arts program (performing, visual, music) are extremely important, and all children have opportunities to participate. Those who choose to excel also have wonderful opportunities. Parental support is excellent. Parents volunteer in the classroom, support a vast array of elective activities, and actively solicit monetary support.
7/18/2004parentBasics of English grammar not mastered by many faculty. Phases like 'Everyone should bring their lunch' instead of 'Everyone should bring his or her lunch' present in many of informational literature. Methods of discipline tend to be punitive. Behavior modification achieved by publicly embarrassing student. Students not always treated with respect, spoken to in demeaning terms. Campus itself is attractive and grounds are well kept.
