| 9/24/2012 | parent | Bay View School lacks essential funding (no Gym,Music or Art teachers-the PTA pays for this). Some of the teachers are awesome but many are horrible! The principal is nice but very indifferent to the situations that plague the school. There is horrible bullying and theft that goes on and she could care less. If you complain, she will nod her head in empathy but then nothing will be done and she will not follow up with you. So glad i pulled my kids out of that school! |
| 4/28/2010 | parent | My daughter goes there and loves it. I think they have a good structure and offer many field trip and extra curricular activities for the children and also opportunities for adult participation. |
| 4/21/2010 | parent | My daughters' teachers have been (and still are!) phenomenal; the care they have for their students is tremendous. My girls LOVE school, what a great way to show them learning is fun. |
| 4/5/2010 | parent | Bay view does have amazing teachers who are very nice and love their students. However I just recently moved school districts and my child is a year behind. While in Kindergarten he was never once required to write a full sentence. I never had any books sent home to start him in reading and we never had sight word test. This year I have had to pay $3000 to catch him up in his reading and writing. At the time I had no idea it was even an issue. Now that I have reviewed California standard I see that most requirements were not even taught, so he had the opportunity to learn or meet the standards. |
| 10/3/2009 | parent | Bay View has great teachers and staff! |
| 9/15/2009 | parent | My third child is now at Bay View, the other two having moved on. I have tremendous affection for all of my kids' teachers as they have all been caring and involved. I see that they work hard but never seem the worse for wear! In addition, despite a high proportion of English-learners, Bay View has increased it's scores over the last few years and provides quality education to all. |
| 1/26/2009 | parent | Both of my children attended Bay View Elementary. I was so pleased with their teachers, the administration, the support staff and the overall environment. My children got excellent educations in a safe, engaging and positive environment. I can't say enough good things. |
| 11/10/2007 | parent | This is a fantastic school! All of the teachers my son had were excellent. I urge all teachers to take there children to Bay View if you want a great edukation. |
| 9/2/2007 | parent | My son is in 2nd grade at Bayview. I could not be more pleased with the school. He has had excellent teachers, there are ample opportunities for music/arts, and parents are highly involved. Bayview is far more integrated than other public schools in the area. |
| 6/14/2006 | parent | I feel like the quality of the Kindergarten bilingual program with Ms. Hanna is awesome. I was very impressed with Mrs. Matteson's 1st 2nd grade combination class as well. My daughter has made a 100% turnaround since the begining of the year. There is a wonderful music program with Laurie Bennet who is also a local musician. The visual arts program is good. The parents of this small community are very involved. Going to Bay View you fell like one big family. It has been a pleasure having my two children attend. |
| 7/18/2005 | parent | My child attended preschool and the staff always appeared to be very involved with the children. |
| 2/26/2005 | parent | Bay View is a great school. Unfortunately, we have moved and are not in the district anymore. I have found the staff and teachers to be helpfull and accessible to individual needs. |
| 3/22/2004 | parent | Bay View has a superb bilingual program for K-3. The school district has been chopping back all the extras and some of the essentials in order to balance the budget, but the teaching staff and the library are still first rate. The facilities were recently remodeled and are in good condition. Literacy instruction is the highest priority, and so science education is less than I'd like to see. |
| 2/23/2004 | parent | Bay View Elementary has a long-term, dedicated principal, parent involvement, quality teachers and, despite the turmoil in the local school district recently necessitating the closure of two schools, has managed to stay positive and forward-looking. Our student population is diverse with almost 50% of students coming from the Latino community. The Bi-lingual program is terrific and provides not only Spanish speakers with instruction in English but also gives English speakers a good introduction to Spanish. Test scores reflect this Spanish speaking orientation and are not indicative of the quality of instruction which is excellent. Despite lean and difficult times, Bay View, through the dedication of parents and their fundraising efforts, still has a music and arts program that reaches all students. Bay View Elementary has seen many of its students go on to achieve academic success in such universities as Columbia, Vassar, Princeton, Brown and Berkeley. Bay View Elementary is a solid, safe, and academically challenging school. My daughter is proud to go there. |
