| 5/30/2011 | student | Being a current student at Pioneer Valley, serving as the student body president, gives me a firm foundation and background of how our school is really like. For those who claim that gangs are a problem at our school, is a faulty assumption. Since the newly found club link crew, which joins a group of freshman with two upperclassmen, in a big brother, big sister kind of way, makes incoming students more welcome and provides them with a stable shoulder to lean on in case they are hesitant. This has decreased class cuts, fighting, and truancies. The diversity amongst the students on campus is also something that is magnificent. It truly is a melting pot of all cultures. As for the staff and administration, which I have been overly pleased with during the three years I have spent there. The support system, encouragement, visibility and involvement, is something that makes PV stand out in our district. I truly am proud to be a panther, and there is no better place to learn than Pioneer Valley. |
| 2/4/2011 | parent | I have no complaints. My son is a freshman and he is extremely involved. I absolutely admire his Avid teacher. What a great heart she has. My son speaks very highly of her. My opinion, when a teen speaks highly of you....WOW! nothing else needs to be said. |
| 9/15/2010 | parent | I have found PV to be one of the best schools I have been around. Good administrative leadership, mostly involved faculty, a majority of students who are able to but into the value of education, equal a positive place to learn. The diverse student population includes a wide variation of student types. This leads to difficulties with the range of learning abilites in the student population. The maturity of the student body is evident as the progress thru thier high school careers, growing in abilities and recognizing the value of a good education. Problems include the gang factor that colors ALL schools in the nation in one aspect or another, english learners who need to master the rudiments of english to function in our society, and the poverty that many of our kids experience as evidenced by the huge free lunch program. Both my kids have graduated from PV . |
| 5/28/2010 | other | Ok, so here's a real review. This school might not be the best, but the staff does what they can with what they are provided. Because the high concentration of students that have lower learning capabilities the school is forced to put in more classes to suit their abilities. This means classes for the better abled students are cut. Whoever said the staff is a joke doesn't know what they are talking about. And to generalize all the students as "horrible" just further accentuates their ignorance. I must admit it wasn't the best learning environment, but you can make the most out of it. Gangs are a big problem because of the large concentration of Mexican- Americans with conflicting backgrounds. Overall I give PV a 3 out of 5 because of the teachers I had, all of which showed great compassion for their students and didn't ask for much in return. |
| 8/31/2009 | student | The school is great i great teachers are the best. campus is wonderfull |
| 6/6/2009 | student | The school is a joke! It's nothing like they say it is! The staff is also a joke and the school in general has no character to it! The school is a dump and the kids there are horrible. |
| 8/10/2007 | other | The school should be on a regular 'semester' schedule instead of the 'term' schedule it is on now. |
