9/18/2009parentI am extremely pleased with my son's school, Bert Lynn Middle School. The curriculum is challenging and very well planned. The teachers are strict enough but compassionate to students' needs. The office staff is wonderful and very willing to help in situations that may arise. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone looking for an academically achieving school along with a warm environment.
9/16/2009parentThe faculty and staff do an outstanding job of creating a caring atmosphere in which students are provided the tools and encouragement to excel.
4/11/2009parentMy daughter is in 6th grade this year at Lynn Middle school and really likes it. The teachers are great and I really like how they have an intervention program after school for the students that are struggling a little. Office staff very nice.
7/31/2007parentThe parent involvement is one of the many aspects of the outstanding school. Bert Lynn Middle School has a dedicated staff who act in the best interest of the students at every level. Outstanding programs include an exceptional mathematics department and music program. We are also aware of the support programs available for children.
3/20/2007parentDedicated and caring teachers like Mr. Childers, Ms. Blair, Ms. Parke and mostly Mrs. Thomas really make a difference for students who do not necessarily fit into the 'box' of middle school rigors. They assess the student's individuality; making adjustments in learning style vs. teaching style and possess a genuine interest in individual student success at a very 'interesting' time in their development. Personally, I am not impressed with the current principal, but thankfully, there are several outstanding teachers at many grade levels who make this a good choice for students living in the South Bay. The PTSA is very active, as are the majority of parents in this West area of Torrance; at the elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. Your involvement as a parent is expected, and almost is used as a measure of your student's success (or failure). Not sure I agree totally with that philosophy.
2/25/2007studentMr. Nadel, Mrs.Tucker, Mrs. Masai, Mr. Conner,Mrs. Irwin, and Ms.Blair are great teachers! They make students feel comfortable!
10/22/2006studentI think that Bert Lynn is a great school. We have awesome teachers like Mr. Marx, Ms.Blair, Mrs. Parke, Mr. Caporaso, Mr. Sanders, Mrs. Baldwin and many more. the school itself it fun, the students are great, we have a great PTSA, and well yeah as a student attending as an 8th grader this year i can tell u first hand we're just a great school!
9/10/2006parentAcademic programs at Bert Lynn Middle School are outstanding. Mathematic pacing is challenging, but many of the teachers provide additional assistance after school.
8/24/2006parentThe teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring out the best in each child. The principal is kind and knows each child by name. She is a great example of a leader and I will miss seeing her everyday as my daughter graduates this year.
4/28/2006former studentexcellent preparation for high school
2/28/2006teacherOne thing I really like about the school is the level of parental involvement. The PTSA works hard at supporting teachers as well as students and provides a way for many parents to stay involved. New principal is working out well too!
7/7/2005parentDr. Barker leads a great team of teachers. I have 3 successful highschool students through his leadership and caring that will become wonderful adults. Bert Lynn is a great place for the norm to the spec ed.
8/31/2004parentDr. Barker is one on our top 10 list of Principals. He truley cares about his students and it shows.
10/1/2003parentWhat a difference from Victor Elementary School! My daughter is in the chorus program and is very happy with it. She says she feels so much better and the teachers and administrators, unlike Victor, are actively involved with the kids and they actually listen to them and us parents. The principal for Victor just recently retired, which tells me she was plain burned out and just putting her time in for retirement. God be with those good kids that go to Victor, our prayers have been answered with Bert Lynn.
8/22/2003parentBert Lynn has the best music program in the district thanks to Dr. Richard Miles. We have been to four Forum Music Festivals and his chorus has won the gold every year.
