| 11/21/2011 | parent | This school doesnt care about student safety. When a kid is bullied all they say is we will take care of it. they dont and it continues. I will never send my kid or other family to this school.... Also they never return parents phone calls. |
| 10/29/2009 | parent | It is a wonderful place for the students to learn and be safe. |
| 10/4/2009 | student | Friendly student & awesome teachers! |
| 10/3/2009 | parent | North High has educated 2 generations of this family. All of the Cantu's have gone on to be productive and successful members of society. The boys participated in sports learning the valuable lessons of teamwork and good sportsmanship. Now we have a daughter there walking in her uncles footsteps. We appreciate the teahers and staff for all of their hard work. They instill in the minds and hearts the inspiring traditions of North High. Our family appreciates North High's contributions to our family members for over 50 years. |
| 9/16/2009 | parent | North High is a very diverse high school. Its students get a chance to experience interacting with students from other cultures. The teachers who have been there a long time are great! My two children have fond memories of their time at North High. |
| 9/16/2009 | parent | Because both my sons attended there and I was happy with the teachers and the school |
| 4/29/2009 | student | It's a good school.. There isn't usually any fighting. It is a very diverse school with many clicks. The teachers do get involved but if you want a schedule change they won't let you, if you want one it will be a hassle.. |
| 11/25/2008 | parent | For the resources that this school has, it does very well in educating it's students. North High's staff and teachers take pride in the diversity that this school brings and it offers classes in many different kinds of languages and is has great teachers. My daughter didn't like the school at first, because the school didn't do a lot at the beginning of the year to help new students adjust and meet other students, but she grew to really like her teachers. The teachers really give the students encouragement and that is most likely why you see such a high graduation rate. I do agree that the school could do more to bring fun activities into the high school experience and to bring more school spirit. |
| 9/21/2008 | parent | North High School is a great school for any child. It has the most graduates out of all the other Torrance high schools, has successfully gotten the highest WASC accredidation in torrance history (6 years!) and has teachers and faculty members that really care. I love North High. Very diverse, fun activities, no fights. Best school in Torrance by far. |
| 8/27/2008 | parent | North High has no school spirit. I am amazed at the lack of spirit and the vacant attitide of manf of the administrators. |
| 5/27/2008 | parent | I have a freshman daughter and she absolutely loves this school. I do, too! She had one bad apple of a teacher, but it is our belief that you need to learn to deal with all types of people in the real world. Great school that turns out great students! |
| 3/21/2008 | parent | the enviornment is good and students are able to clearly focus more on school work |
| 11/3/2007 | parent | My daughter is currently going to this school and I as a parent do not like the teachers. Also the foods they have are very unhealthy for my little girl to eat greasy foods like pizza and the greasy burgers they have. I do not recommend any parent to send your children to this school |
| 4/28/2006 | parent | I cannot say enough about North High's Instrumental Music Program! The music director, Gregory Cooke, is amazing. He took an almost non-existent music program and has turned it into one of the hottest, most improved departments on campus! Not only does he strive for musical excellence, but he requires they maintain good grades. His tireless energy helps with the long hours of practice he and the students put in. He is a great example for the students. The winter/spring concerts are always impressive. Bravo! |
| 3/11/2006 | student | I think North High is an excellent school where there is a wide diversitie of people and a great learning environment. |
| 9/4/2005 | former student | Fantastic school with high academic standards. Many varied extracurricular activities and a clean and safe environment. Parents are very involved. Great AP classes, and a great starting point for students who wish to get into a great college! |
| 8/28/2005 | parent | My family loves North High. We have had two children graduate from North and one is currently a sophomore. Everyone (with the exception of a few negative ones) there cares, from the principal on down. Each of our kids found a place to fit in and excel. I would definitely recommend North High to any parent. |
| 8/20/2005 | administrator | North High School seems to have suffered greatly from the recent budget cuts. The school seemed though to change drastically over the last two years. Before curriculum and helping kids was at the forefront, but this has been replaced by a over emphasis on rules. The school used to be a welcoming and friendly place for all. Somehow North needs to regain its focus and purpose. My last child left. This is good because the school is not what it used to be. |
| 8/19/2005 | parent | With all the money being spent to upgrade schools these days, how come North High hasn't gotten any updates? The school is in deperate need of fixing up. If the State or city can't help why not ask the parents to volunteer? A simple coat of paint or some green grass would make a big difference. |
| 8/19/2005 | parent | I have had two kids attend North High and I have nothing but the best things to say about the school. The students seem to get along really well; the teachers are youthful and positive and I've always found the administrators eager to listen and resolve problems. I would recommend North High School to any families considering moving to Torrance. |
| 4/27/2004 | parent | Throughout my daughters four years attending North HS, there was constant parent/teacher/counselor/student contact. At the beginning of each school year, I met with all of my daughter s instructors and ask them to keep me abreast, via email, of my daughter s academic skills (high/low). I received responses from her teachers at least once or twice a month. North has a great boys/girls sports program. Not only good parent/student support, but also the faculty and staff supported the athletes as well. What most impressed my daughter and I was the diversity of the school. My daughter had many friends with different cultural backgrounds. They all graduated and are now attending different colleges. Overall, I would say that I m glad we made the decision to attend North High School. |
