I've been to be the classroom volunteer for 3 months and observed my daughter's teacher often ate chips & drank coke and surfed on the net during the class hour while the students were in a self-reading session. Will this kind of teacher be appropriate to teach your children? I bet you have the answer already. |
| 8/21/2012 | parent | Both my children experienced a wonderful, engaging, and rigorous academic program at Eastin Elementary. My son had an excellent 2nd grade teacher and my daughter had wonderful 4th grade teacher. Both teachers taught my children to love reading and writing. |

It has been my experience as a parent that your concerns about the school get heard by the staff but with no resolution. |

As far as K-8, it's a definate NO, you really shouldn't. Prime example is Delaine Eastin. Nice fro the looks on the outside but deteriorating on the inside, this meaning this Principal and some teachers. Take caution |

My son had horrible teachers in Kindergarten and 2nd grade, which is the main reason why he is below average in several areas now. I don't feel that the teachers are taking the time to ensure the students are learning what is age appropriate. |

The bias is so apparent that it's ridiculous! Very sad to hear that really good teachers are losing their jobs just because they don't have the seniority. I think each teacher should be reviewed on their MERIT not their tenure. |

(1 High school, 1 Middle School, 1 4th Grader, 1 2nd, and Starting Kindergarten Next year.) I m so happy That there having a great time at this school. They Love It there. Mr. Austin was a great teacher for my child , and made him very intelligent for all areas.His test scores was great! He had many scores over average , and he always knows to be prepared for a test. I hope in the future, Eastin may continue to be a wonderful school for wonderful children , and also to thank Mr. Austin to make his third grade class a blast for him. |
| 8/15/2006 | parent | As an active member of the parent/teacher group, I have learned first hand that Delaine Eastin truly deserves the 'California Distinguished School' award. The teachers are hard working and truly dedicated to the kids and their education. Both the Principal and Assistant Principal are hands on and always available for the teachers and kids. Eastin offers a wide variety of extra curricular activities from music, color guard, choir and curves. Eastin strives to meet the education requirement of both the special needs and the gifted children with programs and classes geared for both. The parent support is tremendous and felt throughtout the school. Eastin's academic rating has been rising with each year that it has been open. |

There are many extracurricular activities to choose from. The after school extended care is also very good. I see many parents involved at this school. It definetly shows that team work can help children. |
| 9/23/2005 | parent | Since this school is the newest in the area and located in the priciest housing communnity of the city, it tends to attract children from better-off professional families. I believe only few scools in Fremont may have higher concentration of education-sensitive families as far as east side of the Bay is concerned. This fact seem to surface as very high participation of parents. Teachers were very serious and eager in helping my son who exceled in math but needed special attention in English. Students are from very diverse background and with varied levels of achievement. There are many exceptional students but there are of course not-so-exceptional ones. And this may be a minus for parents with very high aspiration for the kids. Students of exceptional ability may not receive special attention that would maximize the his/her potential. The amount of assignments were probably average. |

As my mother often told me while I was attending school, 'One teacher. Just one teacher can make or break a child because outside of a parent's influence, especially at the elementary level, the teacher is the 'second parent.'' With this in mind, I want to commend my daughter's third grade teacher, Mr. Epps. Besides our support of her, we recognize and value his belief in her. He has recognized her desire to learn. At the age of four, my daughter suffered, along with the rest of our family, my battle with breast cancer. This impacted her performance in her classroom and otherwise. Three years later, she is making strides and beginning to recover, along with our two other children, from this terrific blow. Thank you Mr. Epps. |
| 1/25/2005 | parent | Delaine Eastin is the newest Primary School in the New Haven district. According to a friend of mine who is a teacher there was a waiting list for teachers who wanted to transfer to the school. Because of this the Principal had a large pool from which to draw talent. I have found overall the school is excellent. Their homework load is more than some of the other primary schools but the kids scores reflect it. Additionally the homework is designed that parents need to be involved for their kids to do well. My son has reading difficulties and the staff have put a great deal of effort to help him improve. Their goal is to keep him in the mainstream classes and pull him out for tutoring for a period each day. |
