4/3/2012parentI was wary about this school because of the area and neighborhoods surrounding it, however I am very please with how my Kindergartener has been educated. They teach the students well and encourage parent involvement. The only problems I've encountered are due to the other students in her class, and some of the parents are bad influences. You can't do anything about that, unfortunately. I'll keep her there for 1st grade.
10/8/2010otherIm a former student from lomitas. this is a great school.Teachers are not mean to students. They are only rude to parents sometimes because parents can be hardheads like these parents leaving comments now.Parents are very closed minded sometimes. Most parents pull there students out of school when something happens.they dont give the school a chance.this is a great school and i would send my kids here.=]
10/8/2010otherI was a former student at Lomitas and i loved it. Parents........the only reason why the teachers are rude because the kids misbehave. The teachers are trying to help the students not hurt them. So parents i know its your opinon but the teachers are helpers not the ones who are rude every minute. Go LEOPARDS
9/12/2010parentI also agree with the last comment posted in June 2010. I also want to comment that disciplinary action needs to be reinforced and can possibly use some retraining to adequately give appropriate consequence each child. Simply suspending a child and not guiding them to make better choices is not an affective way of instilling disciplinary action. Children are deprived of their education when situations as suspension are harshly imposed. In addition calling parents to pickup students because they just don't feel good is not acceptable. I have noticed that when there is about 1-2 hours left of school parents are called to pickup students for a child simply having a scratch and not wanting to be in school.
6/12/2010parentI find the staff to be rude and basically tell you whatever they need to to get paid and move forward with their day. My daugter was attacked by another student and it took 2 weeks before they moved on it due to their own personal issues. Also the teachers arent very friendly and do not work with the parents to create a positive learning environment. The cafeteria staff like to yell at the children while they eat and herd them like cattle. I have repeatedly watched teachers yell at the children and parents in some cases. I have found this school to not live up to all the hype they make it out to be.
11/5/2009parentI love Lomitas because it has been my 'school family' for the last 7 years. I love all of the caring staff who truly care about and love our kids. The teachers and staff are always very approachable and available to talk, and are positive and encouraging to our kids. Lomitas is great because it strives also to teach our kids about character, about being decent, good, and honest human beings of character, kids who will grow up some day to be hard working people who will make many positive contributions to society. Our awesome office staff are smiling faces that greet you when you first enter our school and take care of our kids when they need help up in the office. Thank you Lomitas for continuing to be a great place for my kids to learn and grow!
10/21/2009parentOur school is the best because the staff really cares about the students and will try whatever it takes to see that students improve and succeed!
10/13/2009parentI love the P.T.A. !! I love the caring teachers who really teach each child and I love the principal and the S.A.M. who greet us each and every day..they are approachable and encourage parent involvement. I also love the playground which offers many choices for activities! The school has many enriching programs that other schools do not offer. Thank you Lomitas, my children have never been happier anywhere else!!
6/18/2009parentMy children were new to this school mid-year, and although I was hesitant to send them here because of the score and coments, I must say that in general the school was better than ok. Although Ifeel that some teachers are just doing what they have to to get paid, some teachers are truly supportive and seem to really care, such as my daughter's 4th grade teachers, Mrs. Blubaugh and Mrs. Brendon, and my other daughter's 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Hearell. I think that communication with parents when incidents occurred was delayed, and should be more prompt, and there should be more opportunities for parents who work or have small children to assist. If not by going to the school then by doing things for the classrooms at home and sending with their children to the school.
3/9/2009parentThis diamond of a school really cares about every child. Children have high expectations set for them in academics and behavior. This is a great school!
2/11/2009parentI know this website is for 'Great Schools' but please do not be mislead. There are other opinions that should be heard. As long as your student is socially perfect, you will have issues here. I do not feel that the staff is friendly or helpful. In fact I think they are rude and intrusive!!
10/28/2008otherIn my opinion this is a school that teaches by example not by mouth! they (the staff and principle) really care about the children! most importantly they care that the children exceed, because when they do than the whole school benefits!
9/4/2008parentThe best school that happened to my 4th and2nd graders. The teachers are understanding to every student's need, and the principle is very supportive of both. At any time I could freely speak to the teachers and to the principle. As much as my children hate school they really enjoyed Lomitas. Thank you Lomitas
10/7/2007parentThis school is the best thing to happen to my sixth-grade daughter. She has excelled at Lomitas due to the superb education given by this fantastic elementary school. I rate this five stars.
6/28/2007former studentLomitas is by far the best elementary school in Victorville. A three time California Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon School, Lomitas is committed to excellence. The staff and parents are relentless in helping all children learn. The staff maintains high expectations and standards for both students and parents.
9/19/2006parentLomitas Elementary is an awesome school. The Principal is outstanding as well as the teaching staff. I have 3 children that have attended Lomitas Elementary and I'm very pleased about the parental and community support.
3/8/2006parentThis is a wonderfull elementary school. Our child has done well and embraced the programs offered. The teachers are caring and commited to excellence. We would reccomend this school to any parent looking for a safe environment to learn with a caring and comitted staff.
12/29/2005studentGreat school for all ages. The teachers are wonderful. They have a reading program called Reading counts and the PTA gives out prizes for each time you reach an interval of 50.
10/8/2005parentMy two daughters attended this school in 2003. I was very happy with the teachers and staff. My kids loved it too! I would highly recommend this school.
3/17/2005parentfair school, rarely have problems.
2/12/2005parentThis is a great blue ribbon school.
5/2/2004parentMy two children attended Lomitas for 2 years. I was very pleased with the school, staff and teachers. My son was in Mrs Greenes 1st grade class, and he loverd her so very much. He was very sad when we had to move out of state. My daughter was in Mrs Conklys 4th grade class. She loved her so much that she has decided to become an elementary teacher. I had the chance to room parent for both teachers and really felt so very appreciated by the teachers, and all the staff. Thank you for being such a great school. C. Meadows
4/20/2004parentMy son has been a student at Lomitas now for the past 3yrs. He is now in the 4th grade. We moved to the high desert area in 2001 from L.A. His second grade experience was a very wonderful one. He was in Mrs. Pitenaro's (I hope I spelled it right) class. She had a very strong impact on him and to this day he goes and visits and consults with her often. This school has been very influential on him and has helped him be a better student. It is a national blue ribbon school. I can't wait for my daughter to start this fall in kindergarten.
4/15/2004parentMy children began attending Lomitas Elementary School in October of 2003. We moved from one school within the same district to Lomitas. I was surprised and delighted to find that Lomitas offered many more extracurricular activities i.e. field trips, physical education, art and language instruction as well as great general education instruction. The office staff is courteous and the teachers are great. Thanks for a great transition!
9/9/2003otherI am not a parent of a student that attends here, but I used to. About 7 years ago, it was my last year at Lomitas. All of the teachers were great and I had a fun time being there. It is a very good school and I recomend the school to my friends whom are married and have lil' ones on the way.
8/1/2003parentOur son just finished Kindergarten with Mr Young (K-100). All of the kids learned a Lot, they did science experiments, went on fun field trips, have had good discipline, and they all respect and adore Mr Young. He has made a very Positive impact on these children's early school career. Our son has made some very nice friends at this school and has participated in many school activities as well as friends' birthday parties, etc. All of the kids have a fun and happy outlook. Lomitas is a very clean school, has a Large parking lot (which is Rare these days!), and is Right NEXT DOOR to a Fire Station! The firefighters come to help out Every day! Assisting students crossing the roads, helping to supervise bus loading/unloading, etc. Lomitas is centrally located in the high desert on a quiet residential street just off Hesperia Rd near Vons grocery store in Victorville. CHP officers with radar guns actively punish any and all speeders on a weekly basis. So motorists know to drive Slow around This school! My wife and I really like Lomitas Elementary; we wish more schools were like this one.
