| 12/13/2011 | parent | My family loves Erie Elementary. They are no longer oversized and have a strong community feeling in the building. The teachers are excellent and many of the negative teachers are no longer there. They have started a STEM focus and really are helping all kids. The new principal is great. Reading other reviews on here, I really think the August review is not accurate. Obviously they had issues. Erie is a great school with a great staff. They love our kids and push the students to love learning. The staff has always been responsive to our needs, questions, emails and phone calls. That includes the principal! Don't put any weight in a negative comment. Check out this great school for yourself |
| 8/24/2011 | parent | I removed my child from this school as soon as a better option became available in Erie. The new principal is unresponsive to emails and phone calls about concerns. She is unprofessional, presenting at back to school night completely unprepared, posting inappropriate content on facebook and twitter including sensitive infomation on a public site and student photos when parents have not given permission, which just paints herself and the school in a negative light. She seems more interested in padding her resume than what is best for the school. The teachers are burned out and do not set the kind of example I want to set for my child. I do not want my son's teacher's child telling him it's okay to drop out of school because jobs are available (in fast food). The fact that the class sizes for my child's grade this year are at 32 students and counting just reinforces the fact that I made the right decision moving my child. Please look at all other available options before sending your child to this school. With the new elementary and charter school, there are MUCH better options in Erie. |
| 8/30/2010 | parent | Erie has great teachers & staff, who really care about the kids & helping them succeed. Erie just got a new principal- I really don't know much about her yet, but she sends good at communication, and always says her 'door is open' if we should ever feel the need to talk to her. The environment there is friendy- people often smile & say hello as you walk through the school. They're very welcoming to parents- we can drop in anytime, whether to have lunch w/ the kids or help out in a classroom, etc. As a note of interest, there will be 2 new elementary schools opening in Erie for the 2011-2012 school year: 1 a regular elementary (elementary # 26), & 1 a charter school called Aspen Ridge Preparatory school. Both will be new construction. |
| 9/16/2009 | parent | I not only went to Erie Elementary but now my niece and child care chidren all attend there. It is a great small town school! |
| 9/16/2009 | parent | My daughter loves Kindergarten and they have such a great attitude and really love the kids and want to see them succeed! |
| 4/11/2009 | parent | The overcrowding is no longer due to the opening of a second elementary school. I have nothing but 5 stars for this school. The teachers are excellentand caring and my daughter loves every day. |
| 3/3/2008 | parent | My children have been attending Erie Elem for 5 years. Even during transition, this is an amazing school. The teachers are very dedicated. They make sure each child is learning exactly what they need to be, in order to achieve the benchmarks. This is a friendly, community school where kids are valued and loved. Some may think this is a country bumpkin school, but it's far from it! The principal and his staff are constantly in professional development classes in order to give their kids the best education possible. Parents are welcome and valued in the classroom. This is a wonderful school and I'm grateful for the experiences my children have had. |
| 11/30/2007 | parent | We recently moved here, and after looking into the school have decided to make the long compute to have my child attend her old school. The school is over crowded, and academics seem to be substandard. Management is scary. Teachers are overworked, and don't seem to care much. The long drive is worth it for my child to be happy and secure, and get the education needed. |
| 9/24/2007 | parent | The school is over crowded for sure, but the class sizes are still average. With new hire teachers the school is doing it's best to keep up with the growth in the area. I am waiting for the new school to open up next year to help with this issue. As for academics at the school, I find that they are meeting our needs. Our daughter is advanced in reading and her teacher has definately made sure she remains challenged. There are lots of opportunites to be involved in EES, and I think this is the best way to know what is going on first hand. I have already recommended to other local parents not to send their children to other schools until they experience EES first hand. We are very happy with our decision to send our children to Erie Elememtary. |
| 8/24/2007 | parent | I moved my son from Erie to a local Charter school this year as the academic expectations were very low and teacher attitudes are not as positive as I feel my son deserves. We moved here for the schools, and now I drive 15 miles for them as the overcrowding issue is out of control as well. |
| 8/23/2007 | parent | I would never have my children attend this school if I had any other choice. The academic standards are very low. Teachers are not antthing but mediocre at best. Students behavior leaves much to be desired. We have already decided to move to an area that has a higher quality education for our children. ex-parent |
| 7/5/2007 | parent | Erie is a small town school that has excellent teachers, but bad facilities and funding. Most teachers are natives to the area and they have a true love for the community. Many students are (yuppy) transplants and the parent involvement is amazing! However, overcrowding is a huge problem, and the budgets do not seem to pass quickly enough to provide for progression. Frankly, the leadership is a mess! We moved here for the schools, and unfortunately we are moving again. We cannot wait for things to get better (as they should). |
| 10/25/2006 | parent | I like the school and the teachers so far everyone is friendly. |
| 1/10/2006 | parent | If you want a small town school but a big city education that is what you have here. everyone is personable and willing to help and the education is great. i give this school a 10 |
| 8/23/2005 | parent | Erie Elementary is in serious crisis with a capacity of 140%. Quality programs are being cancelled and unwillingness to explore options by the district and the new principal seem to prevail currently. |
