| 7/17/2011 | parent | This is a great school. Our daugther, despite being second-language and rather unobtrusive, has thriven during kindergarten and learned so much. The teacher was formidable. The principal. now unfortunately retired, was very engaged. Yes, not all children are from privileged families, but that's the reality in this country, and I gather have my children growing up in a diverse environment. It's not only about learning for standardized test, it's also learning for life. |
| 10/10/2010 | teacher | Foothills Elementary is a wonderful little school. The teachers work hard, the students work hard and the community works hard to help the students. Foothills is a great place to be! |
| 4/7/2010 | parent | I agree that Foothills has a problem with some mean kids and definately with profanity. I have spoken to the principal and she has and continues to work on this problem. The teachers are given a tough population to work with at times and they do an excellent job of teaching and mentoring. The PE, music and art program are great! The teachers and the principal, Mrs. Donahue, are fabulous. I also only know the 5th and 6th grades. children will get a good education here but will have to put up with some negatives from the kids. |
| 1/24/2010 | parent | I have been involved with this school for the past 5 years and the improvements that have been made are tremendous. This School is truly an asset to the neighborhood. |
| 1/8/2010 | teacher | I am a teacher at Foothills Elementary, and I loving working there. Every staff member works together to provide our students with an excellent education. Our positive behavior support program is extremely effective in helping students learn appropriate behavior in school. We use research based techniques to teach according to the Jefferson County Curriculum Achievement Project which includes Colorado standards. Finally, each staff member truly cares about every student at our school. Foothills Elementary is an excellent place to learn and create life-long memories. |
| 10/22/2009 | parent | Foothills is such a wonderful school I could never think of taking my child from this smaller close knit school. The staff goes above and beyond what is expected of them to get you any answers you need. The Principal is very approachable and kind. The teachers and other staff are very involved in Foothills PTA and very willing to help. I can't say enough good things about the teachers. They answer your questions quickly and professionally. And willing to offer ideas to help further your Student! I highly recommend this school to all my friends and family. Foothills is a smaller school however this gives the kids a very good oppurtunity to grow lasting friendships and bonds that a bigger school doesn't offer!!! |
| 2/19/2009 | teacher | Serious Discipline Problems at this school. Many kids out of line on a daily basis, staff does nothing about it. I have worked in the library and seen all classes come in and out, many had multiple teachers to control the out of line behavior and rowdiness but it did not help. If what goes on in the classroom is at all like what I saw in the library during sit down 'learning time' I would not send my child there. I was shocked at the behavior of the students. |
| 3/20/2008 | parent | Foothills is a great school with excellant teachers! Always looking to improve and the principal is nice and easy to talk to. I would recommend this school to anyone. The school also has diversity which is great! The prior comment had mentioned some disrespectful kids attending this school. Any school that your child may attend is going to have some misbehaving children. Wouldn't you rather your children learn coping skills with this instead of sheltering them from what is part of growing and learning to deal with difficult people as a adult? Honestly! |
| 1/30/2008 | parent | We are new to Denver, I was told that Foothills is a wonderful school. Boy, was I deceived! My son is in grade and the instructor have absolutely no control over her classroom! Children are disrespectful and have free range over the class room. The children there that want to learn are constantly distracted because the instructor is unable to get a handle on her classroom! My child will not attend Foothills next year! |
