| 9/20/2010 | parent | The principal & vice principal resigned without warning this summer, one taking a lesser position in neighboring district! They tried, but did not succeed to get better COMMUNICATION within the school departments and with parents. The teachers balked. If your child is a cracker jack at the academics, things should go well for him/her. If the student is a hands on learner, forget cooperation on the part of the school. If enrolled in the Vocational Agriculture department, certain academic teachers WILL discriminate. Others do give entusiastic support to the program. The guidance department will give you nothing but circular talk. Let's hope new administrators can turn things around! The students want and deserve it; hopefully the Board of Ed is finally awake. |
| 7/6/2009 | parent | Teachers and the principal included have not been responsive to questions I have had concerning my two children in this school. Specific questions relating to class work, sports, and extra currriclular actvities have gone un answered. Very dissapointed. |
| 5/9/2006 | parent | My daughter is finishing up her sophomore year at Housatonic. My contact with the school has been very positive. I have had a number of conversations and/or emails with the pricipal, assistant principal, coaches and all of her teachers. My contact with other parents regarding school issues has been positive as well. While I have not agreed with everything that my child has experienced, at no time have I felt assignments, actions, etc were capricious. There is room for improvement at the school in some areas but I believe it is a proactive and not a reactive organization. |
