| 5/8/2009 | parent | I love East Lyme Middle School, they make learning so much fun! The teachers are so nice. I made friends for life!!! The teachers will push you hard but it will be worth it! East Lyme middle school is also a beautiful building and a national blue ribbon school. |
| 3/28/2008 | parent | ELMS is a beautiful school based on a Kiva design which may not serve the children well when transitioning over to the high school. More importantly the administration is more concerned with cancelling halloween and school trips and enforcing dress codes instead of focusing on strengthening a very poor spanish program. At a time when the spanish language is dominant our children are just starting to learn colors and numbers in spanish and it doesnt improve much at the high school level either. There are a few great teachers which stand out and they are great resources. Overall it is a great school but again at the time of 'press 2 for spanish' our middle school needs to step up the program, and worry less about doing away with halloween parties and school trips. |
| 2/11/2008 | student | I think the school system is great. I moved here for 6th grade and i am learning so fast. I love ow they make kivas because that let new kids like me get to know a group of kids really well. One thing i would recomend is more time to get from class to class. East Lyme Middle School is a big school so it takes a while to get around. We get about three minuts to get places. I don't have enough time to get my stuff, change for gym, or even get from special to my kiva which is on the top floor. |
| 1/4/2008 | parent | Having two of my children having attended(ing) the Middle School, I'd have to say, it does not meet their needs. There is a dire need to look at the curriculum and overall school environment. The principal is not particularly 'present'. Both my children have stated boredom. The homework situation needs to be accessed also. Overall, regardless of class size and/or test scores, this school needs reassessment. |
| 8/15/2005 | parent | The new 'Middle School concept' of the East Lyme Middle School does not meet the needs of 5th graders (academically, socially, emotionally,or developmentally). The overall needs and capabilities of the child must addressed in order to teach and educate effectively. |
| 2/23/2004 | student | I think ELMS is a safe place to be. My teachers are let back and make learning fun because of the way that they teach. However if you goof off they will become strict. I am also a straight A student accept for B+ in L.A. I think the school isn't the best but I'd rather be here than somewhere else. |
| 8/25/2003 | parent | The administration has a habit of fostering bullying behaviour. they either ignore it, or allow it to go on rather than facing the problem. There was an issue with a student threatening thier classmates, and they swept it under the rug. In this district, if you have money, they will listen, if you don't, you will be ignored. |
