| 1/12/2011 | parent | Phenomenal school! Curriculum is challenging but not overwhelming. Students are encouraged to work hard - significant homework starting relatively early compared to public school. RA kids are well-prepared to move on to HS. Faculty is outstanding, particularly 7th/ 8th. Principals are excellent & beloved by the kids. My child has gone through the entire program from preschool to 8th grade, and we couldn't be happier -- our youngest is now in the lower school and absolutely loves it. There has been great improvement in the transitions between grades, and more focus on preparing students for the next step (whether in the school or moving on beyond RA.) The headmaster knows virtually every child by name, and is involved, effective, and caring. The kids love him, and the parents I know truly value his contribution to the school. We have had one or two "bad" teachers, but that's true anywhere. Arts programs are improving, but both the music and drama programs are really in their infancy. We've found the secondary school placement to be wonderful -- they really want to see your child wind up in the right high school. We have been thrilled with RA. Can't rave enough!!! |
| 1/16/2010 | parent | I wish I found Ridgefield Academy sooner! My youngest of 3 started in Kindergarten and we couldn't be happier. The education, nurturing and moral values instilled are the finest we have ever come across. We have 2 older children and there other schools didn't compare to Ridgefield Academy. We also travel 1/2 hour to school and love the school tremendously. |

| 1/18/2007 | parent | As a parent who attended private school all my life, I must say Ridgefield Academy is outstanding. Development of the whole person is stressed, with careful attention paid to moral development and community service. This is our third year and education to date has been outstanding. The teachers are fabulous - the schools greatest asset. The music and performing arts program has greatly improved this year. Parents Association is very committed and involved. We travel 1/2 hr each way. But it is worth it. |
| 5/11/2006 | parent | The preschool and lower schools are outstanding. You would be hard pressed to find a better preschool program. The middle school lacks discipline, character developement and communication. The transition from lower to upper school is very difficult for students and teachers. A high percentage of students in middle school require tutors, which are often their teachers - so why pay the 18,500 per year when you have to hire the teachers as tutors at $90 per hour. The student teacher ratio in the middle school is the same of that in the public schools at 14 to 1. Not many students continue past the 4 and 5th grades. The numbers speak for themselves |
| 9/5/2005 | parent | If you're looking for a great academic program for a Pre-K-8 school, check it out. It's Ridgefield's best kept secret located on 40 acres on West Mountain Road. The school has tremendous facilities and a strong academic program. They emphasize the kind of values parents are trying to teach their kids. The school offers educational programs from 3 yrs of age through 8th grade. |
