5/6/2011parentMy daughter is attending Bancroft this year and she is in the second grade. I am so proud to see how much she has improved since the beginning of the year. She is even reading on a fourth grade level according to the standardized test. Yes, there are some behavior issues within her class but that should be the responibility of the parent. We shouldn't expect the teachers to do our job. Open your eyes, your children are a reflection of you. God Bless these teachers and Happy Teacher Appreciation week.
3/7/2011otherMY GRANDSON ATTENDS 2ND GRADE AT THIS SCHOOL AND FOR THE LAST 9 WEEKS AT SOME POINT IN TIME EVERYDAY THIS TEACHER CALLS A RELATIVE TO CALL THE SCHOOL, STATING ITS SOMETHING HE HAS DONE MOSTLY WHAT SOME OTHER STUDENT SAID HE HAS DONE, OR WHAT SHE MIGHT HAVE HEARD HIM SAY. ITS GOTTEN SO BAD AS SOON AS HE COMES TO CLASS HE HAS TO GO TO SACK ( GOOD FOR THEM THAT KEEPS THEM IN A JOB) MY DAUGHTER CAME TO SCHOOL FOR A MEETING 3/72011 AND THEY HAD THREE PERSONS THERE STATING WHAT HE HAS DONE, BUT NO OTHER STUDENTS OR THE PRINCIPAL WAS THERE. . I KNOW HES NO ANGEL. BUT I ALSO KNOW WHEN A PERSON IS BEING STEREOTYPED, OK YOU WANT HIM TO GO TO ANOTHER SCHOOL, MAYBE THEY WILL HAVE THE DECENCY TO PUT FORTH AN EFFECT TO PUT IN A TALENT AND GIFTED PROGRAM TO CHALLENGE HIS MIND, RATHER THEN TO LOOK FOR FAULTS NOT SAYING HE SHOULDN"T BE DISCIPLINED. ITS BETTER FOR THE CHILD NOT TAUGHT IN A SCHOOL LIKE THIS
7/3/2009parentBancroft is making big improvements- There were about 300 students enrolled since it became a neighborhood school, instead of 850. A new principal is shaking up the status quo, and bringing a special arrangement with the University, which will be using Bancroft as the 1st choice for urban settings for student teachers. That means more staff, and the best educators in the state will be influencing each classroom! My child just finished 5th grade there, she got 4's on her DSTP, loved her teacher and is ready for a successful year in middle school. Then again, she is a serious kid, and never let the poor behaviors of other students influence her academics. Bancroft's biggest problem is that most of its parents had little success in school themselves, and don't know how to influence their kids to be good students. Very Sad, and not the school's fault, I think.
2/23/2009parentthis is a terrible school I would not suggest anyone to send there child to his school my son and my nephew both had a horribe exprience at this school they are very unorganized and they seem to put kids in a sterotype take from me donot send your child to this school choice them out if you have to
5/16/2007parentThe academic program is wonderful, especially IEP where the students are in the classroom with other same grade students of whom are not in IEP. The children do not have recess; I am told it's because of the pursuit of academic achievement to which I, as a parent, strongly disagree with. The PTA and other school related groups need to concentrate on the school community as a whole and cease with the fund raising already!
