6/12/2012studentI just completed my second year here as a Sophomore. In my first year, the school was horrible. Teachers rarely paid any attention to students. As a transferred student from Virginia, I can conclude that this school is missing some standards required for students to be success. My second year was some what better. The school underwent a reformation and fired some inexperienced teachers. However, the gap between teachers and students are still kind of broad. In most cases, there would be conflicts between students and teacher. One of my teachers gave up his job due to the rudeness of the students. Majority of the students here often complained about the school's quality. If you are considering this school as your next school, I'd suggest other schools such as Ocoee, Olympia, and West Orange.
12/2/2011studentI am currently a Freshman this year in this school. The principle is great. She is a good person. Most of students are pretty nice when I started. We get a lot of privileges which I enjoyed greatly. Now for the bad parts. My only rant are on the teachers. I am usually an "A" and a "B" honors student but my GPA is quickly decreasing because some of my teachers are lazy and they don't know how to teach. All they do is give you work for a day and not reinforce it and give you a test the next day. One day is not enough to study and memorize the stuff on the test the next day. Some teachers can't teach either. They will read from the text book and forget about it, assuming that you learned it already but really, we did not. Again, this is only some of the teachers. Most of the teachers are pretty good. They teach properly and are always giving you a helping hand. This is also my views so don't take this too seriously. I would give my school a 3.5 but you can't so I rounded it to 4 stars. Wish my some of my lazy teachers start to teacher better now because my GPA is taking a HUGE dip to the ground and I am desperately studying at home and bringing my grade up. Overall, Wekiva is decent.
10/7/2010studentWhen I started my first year at wekiva as a 9th grader I didn't like the school now I HATE THE SCHOOL I don't feel safe there at all.The school is not fun its like beaning in Jail.I live in Ocoee I should be going to Ocoee high school that is 3 miles away from my house but no I have to go to this school that is 6 miles away so thats missed up.The staff at wekiva are very mean at the students the teachers don't even help the students when they need help and they like to talk back to the students.I have to have one day out of the week to stay home from wekiva thats how much I hate it.
3/19/2010parentI see alot of neg. reviews. I as a parent of 1 child that graduated from Wekiva (the 1st. senior graduating class) I enjo working along with the school in teaching my children. I do know that there are some teacher issues but if our children go to school to learn then they will learn. Everywhere we go in life there will be issues to deal with why do we assume that everything should be perfect in school. What is an ideal school for your child is not ideal for my child and vis versa. We actually moved North of apopka and Sent my daughter to another high school. Feb. of this year we transfered her back to Wekiva I drive 30 minutes to get her to school. Be happy there are no guns in this school ike what was found in daughters older school.
3/4/2010parentthis school is very bad for an average student. weak teachers and horribly, defensive attitudes by all staff. Teachers and staff have often not shown up for meetings scheduled. They can never give you 5 minutes of quality time. They do not follow through on anything they promised to me, and really work against the parent and take it out on the child. The level of unprofessionalism is very high. May be ok if child is in AP courses and parent stays away, They get paid by the state for AP child and parent doesn't question motives so they love it!
3/3/2010studentIm a junior at Wekiva High School ive attended this school since my Freshman year. I personally HATE this school and have been trying to change schools for ever. The teachers here, not all of them but most of them, are horrible. They talk down on students and talk about the students to other students. Whenever i come to school i dont feel comfortable or excited for school i feel like im walking into an Orange County Jail and like im signing my life away. This school might seem nice on the outside but once you enter the doors you will really see what this school is all about. I wouldn't recomend ANYONE to wanna come here...!
12/8/2009parentSome of the teachers will not give my children make-up work and it is becoming a hassle. I dont think ill be sending my other children there ever!
11/8/2009studentIm a freshman at this school and i think that it is an excellent school to attend. Its such a great environment to learn in. Also the classes are easy to understand...

9/15/2009parentMy daughters went there one has graduated already and I still have one more. It is a great school.
5/23/2009studentI'm a Sophmore in this school and i really love attending Wekiva. The campus is really big and clean and the teachers are really helpful.I was introduced to AP courses and am now currently taking one and am taking two more next year. The only downfall the the school is it's students attitudes toward our school, since most got placed in the school from another school they attended.
5/22/2009studentthis school is bad not on the out side but on the in teachers call carp about the kids to other kids and the teachers make u fell dum . u leave cry and cant wait itll summer and the gards and trzor happy its be use a least 3 times in a weak
5/21/2009parentI have two students at the school, and each year I get frustrated with the arrogance and downright 'mean' attitude of the teachers. The way they treat my boys, who are good students with good attitudes, is unreasonable and frustrating at best. They seem to get away with talking down to the students, calling them names, and looking down their nose at the parents when we come in for a meeting to address these issues. Nothing is done from an administative standpoint about these 'Teachers with 'Tudes.'
5/2/2009studenti attend this school as a freshman and i absolutly love it. it is very clean and the classrooms are really nice. it is really large but easy to get around.i love evry thing about it!
4/3/2009studentI go to this school and i really hate it i haave been trying so hard to leave its nice in the in side but that it the teacher donr care about the stundents and let you know some teacher even talk about other stundents to other kids and we have tazer happy gards andthey dont help stundents reslove there issue i think you should run the other wasy form the might moghty mustang
2/22/2009parentThe teachers and staff are wonderful, and they have one of the best band instructors in Orange County.
2/19/2009studentWekiva is a good a school as any other. Dr. Gruber really cares not just about the school, but of the staff and students as well. The learning enviroment is great and many of the teachers are great at what they do. while Apopka is a good school, Wekiva is just as good, if not better, than Apopka.
2/8/2009parentThis school system here is horrible when you get to know how they treat these kids...If you can, send your kids to Apopka High School, or some other place. Your kid will come home complaining about what Wekiva did to make school more like a jail.
5/7/2008parentI just found out about this site and was surprised that no other parents have been raving about this school! My boys (9th and 11th) were upset about changing schools when we were zoned for Wekiva High School. That quickly changed when they saw the state-of-the-art facilities, the enthusiastic teachers and the attentive administration staff. I have been more than pleased with Wekiva High School this year and I look forward to sending my daughter there in a couple of years. Keep up the good work!
4/30/2008studentI am glad that I get to be the first to tell everyone about this amazing school. I was a bit nervous at first going to a newly built school but this year has been fantastic. I couldn't ask for a better school! The teachers are upbeat and Mrs. Gruber seems to really care about us and wants us to do well. School spirit is great and our athletics programs have a lot of participation. I am so happy that I get to go to a school like Wekiva High School. Go Mustangs!
