| 10/30/2012 | parent | Brandon Academy offered my child what other school did not - a love of learning. I never thought I would see the day when my child would be upset because "there was no school today". Thanks. |
| 7/26/2012 | parent | I am not happy with this school. If your child has a Mckay scholarship and requires speech then don't bother going to this school as they do not offer speech therapy at the school. The thing I am most bothered with is that I was told by the Principal that some thing was wrong with my child because he was misbehaving and showing behavior that I did not see at home. When I took my child to a specialist because I was concerned it turned out there was nothing really wrong. We just needed to work on his behavior some. Interestingly he is behaving quite well at summer camp so it makes me think that the school was the problem. They couldn't handle the situation properly and wanted to drop my son from the school. I found a better school that appears to have some wonderful, compassionate and understanding staff. |
| 2/16/2012 | parent | Great school, wish it went through high school. Tough to find any this good my day. Great value too. |
| 11/22/2011 | other | I LOVE THIS SCHOOL! I attended BA for nine years and made many great friend whom I still stay in touch with. These are friendships that will never be forgotten. My teachers were excellent and very helpful. I miss my years at BA and try to visit often. |
| 11/18/2011 | parent | I was so happy to see Brandon Academy listed on the Great Schools website. My son graduated from BA and today is a successful architect in New York City with a degree from Columbia University. He fondly remembers his years at the school and still communicates with a few classmates with whom he has formed lasting friendships. I selfishly wish he was still in Florida so my grandson could attend Brandon Academy and receive the exceptional education his father did! |
| 11/17/2011 | parent | I seem to have finally found the right school for my daughter. She is very bright and makes good grades but also loves signing and performing, which is not offered in many other schools. Here, the classes are great, but she also gets to take part in a chorus group and perform in plays and productions. You just don't see enough emphasis on the arts anymore. It took three schools, but at least we found the right place eventually! |
| 11/3/2011 | parent | Can not believe the time for my kids at Brandon Academy isin its last year. My son has been here since kindergarten and will graduate this spring and I am fearful no other school will match what he has had here. The academics, top notch, but we all knew that. What we did not know was all the rest. The friendships, the feeling of community, the memories and opportunities we have all had while he was here. I hope this year goes slowly becuase I know he, as well as us, don;t want ti to end. |
| 10/31/2011 | parent | Not pleased with this school. I feel that perhaps the higher education teachers are good, however, when it comes to the pre k teachers I am disappointed. Prior to my child starting this school she was in a daycare/school environment. Her teachers praised how smart and advanced she was and recommended a private school. So we came to BA. Progress reports were recently issued and my child received Ns throughout the progress report. I am very disturbed that my child's teacher failed to inform me of this over the last couple of months especially since she sees me everyday. I've even asked how my child is doing and get this response, 'xx is doing fine'. Areas my child received Ns on I know were not warranted so I will be meeting with Dean. My rating is based off of my personal experience with my child's specific teacher not BA as a whole. |
| 9/2/2011 | parent | I found this school while searching the internet and I am so thankful I did. It is an award winning school and has all these accolades but what I found exceeded my expectations. I have a child in kindergarten and the whole place just feels right. Everyone is so welcoming, the children are well behaved and the teacher is excellent. I highly recommend this school. |
| 8/2/2011 | parent | WONDERFUL SCHOOL! Just discovered it last year, but it was fantastic for my kids. Lots of personal attention. The kids all seem to actuall like going to school. Can't wait for school to start this year. The travel that the students get is worth it alone - Keys, Washington, Europe - they didn't have all this when I was in school! |
| 6/23/2011 | parent | This school was not up to my standard. The school dropped my son who suffers from speech delay without notice. They promised to give speech and other resources which they never provided. Please if you are thinking of this school who has a child with special needs of any kind do not consider this school. |
| 6/6/2011 | parent | My son just graduated from Brandon Academy and, as a parent, I am going to miss this school so much. In the three years he was there, besides the education he got (advanced math, advanced science, social studies and english) he also got to take Spanish for Honors credit and travel the world. In 7th grade he went to Spain, Italy and Greece with the school and then this year, they took the kids to Washington D.C. and Gettysburg. I do not know what his high school years will hold, but if it is half as good as his time at this schol, I'll be happy. |
| 6/6/2011 | parent | We moved our children to Brandon Academy several years ago. I can not begin to tel you the difference in how my children feel about school. Even though the classes and academics are high end, my children love going to school. My oldest was actually sad he had an appointment on day when "presentations" were being done in his class. The relief of stress I feel each day is incredible. Can't wait until school starts again! |
| 3/21/2011 | parent | We moved to Brandon last year and were shocked at what we saw in the public schools Public schools in North Carolina are just not like that. We tried one other private school before finding Brandon Academy. Good thing we did. Now my kids like going to school and I don't have to worry about their safety. Good bargain too. Private schools in NC are twice this much. |
| 2/28/2011 | parent | What a difference!! My child is finishing her first year at Brandon Academy and she loves school for the first time ever! The field trips, the students, everything. We are a military family and have been to quite a few, but none have compared. We looked at some of the other private schools, but for the price, this is a bargain. Only wish it went through high school. |
| 1/18/2011 | parent | I'm not very happy with this school. My son is in middle school and he is new and he doesn't feel very welcomed. The work he did at my old public school was more advanced and had more supportive teachers. The electives program is terrible. My child disliked an elective and wanted to change it but they wouldn't let him, what's up with that? Last but what upset me the most was that he came home cursing and talking about drugs. He said that all of the students were talking about this. I'm am very dissapointted with this school and I will send my son back to his previous school towards the end of the year. |
| 1/13/2011 | parent | We made the change to Brandon Academy and there is just no comparison. The school has teachers who care, students who are well behaved and involved parents. Individual differences are taken into account and there are truly no students left behind. Hghly recommended!! |
| 1/4/2011 | parent | Best school ever!! My child has learned more and had more opportunities than I ever could have believed. The curriculum, the class size, the fact that all the teachers have degrees in education, fantastic. We moved from out of state and I was distraught after visiting my local public school. I think this school may have saved my child's education! |
| 8/7/2010 | parent | My son completed his first year in BA's VPK program. My niece and nephew completed VPK several years ago at a different school; the differences in the experience with BA was amazing. My child did not just get minimum state requirements. He received physical education, science, Spanish, music, and art. He went on field trips, and his teacher kept in touch with us on his progress throughout the year. If there is any down-side to BA, it is the lack of a cafeteria. Having to provide a well-rounded lunch not requiring refrigeration or reheating daily is a challenge. Young children only tolerate PBJ so many times before it gets old. The negative of the cafeteria is more than overcome by the quality of education my son is already getting. BA's principals, teachers, and staff take the time to know each child and his or her quirks. |
| 5/18/2010 | parent | This school is just fantastic! This is my first year sending my children and happy I did. Both my children have grown academically and socially. I have a son who requires some extra help with focusing and the teachers/staff and wonderful with helping him. The tuition is very modest compared to the quality teaching and other private schools. Definilty would reccomend to all who are looking. |
| 9/14/2008 | student | Im a 8th grader at brandon academy. I love it here. Its my first year here,i came from a public school and 110% glade i came to b.A. Already in the past 3 or 4 weeks of school i have seen a major improvement in my grades, testing, and studying. I love going to school everyday. The staff and students are wonderful. Everyone is like family, and know one judges you. |
| 7/16/2007 | parent | This school is thte best ever!!!! My daughter loves this school so much. It has a wonderful curriculm and super teachers to go with it. They take time with every student to make sure they understand their strengths and weaknesses. 10 star rating. |
| 5/1/2007 | parent | My son is in kindergarten at brandon academy and we can't believe the progress he has made in one year here. The students are reading at a first grade level, well beyond their peers at several public schools i have observed (a rated schools!). He has spanish, art, pe, music, and computers among other electives twice a week. The school goes on field trips every month, sometimes twice a month. The cost of education is reasonable and we are thrilled that we have a great school to send him to through 8th grade because there are a serious lack of good middle schools in the brandon area and we know how difficult it is to school choice burns middle. The focus of the school is not on fcat, but on the development of the child and a well rounded education, and manners, which are all sadly lacking in hillsborough public schools. |
| 4/17/2007 | parent | I approached Brandon Academy about potential enrollment of my son mid-way thru his 8th grade year. Mr. Rudolph was open-minded, warm, caring, considerate and - most of all - helpful. After careful review and discussion about our unique circumstances and whether the school was a good fit, my son was accepted and enrolled. That was only the beginning. The staff and students alike are wonderful. They welcomed my son with open arms and made him feel like 'one of the family' from day 1. This was very different and a much welcome change compared to our previous experiences at other schools. I recommend Brandon Academy without hesitation. |
| 3/7/2007 | parent | We are so thrilled with the quality of education we are receiving here. The staff, administration and teachers are some of the best I have ever encountered. The school is unpretentious, which we love, the kids are smart, the parents are involved and really care. We are proud to send our child here! |
| 11/17/2006 | parent | From a military family who's had her child in three other private schools in the southeastern U.S., I can say without a doubt that Brandon Academy is not only the best school academically, but one where my child happily goes to school every day. That's a tall order these days! |
| 9/14/2006 | parent | I can't say enough great things about this hidden gem of a school. Public school does not compare to this- teachers are involved, there are great extra-curricular activities, there is a committment to excellence and behavior that is rare these days. I feel good about sending my child here everyday. |
| 5/13/2006 | parent | Brandon Academy has had exceptional scholastic and extra curricular programs ove the past 10+ years, but the school has accelerated to a new high level since Rob Rudolph has taken ownership. His positive leadership and intense active involvement from all aspects has led to higher student involvement in sports and more active communications between teachers and prents. The teachers encourage positive challenges for the students and are all available for free supplemental tutoring daily. The campus is well kept and educational materials and equipment are upgraded regularly. Spanish, Art and Computers Sciences electives are taught by well qualified staff. Parents are actively involved and their ideas are regularly adopted into school decisions. The school encourages high academic achievement in a positive, strongly ethical environment. Tuition is modest for this level of quality. |
| 4/26/2006 | parent | It's hard to find a school these days that gives true personalized individual attention to kids and parents. This school really does. Great curriculum, sports and fine arts program. Lots of innovative teaching, field trips and parent involvement. Fantastic School. |
| 4/16/2006 | parent | Excellent! Only wish it went through 12th grade. |
| 7/5/2005 | parent | This is a wonderful school with quality teachers. All teachers must have an education degree they are not just certified. The school works with parents and children to make sure the needs are met with success and good feelings for all. |
