2/29/2012parentTeachers and Staff truely care about the children. This a school that focuses on Marine Science as it is in the Keys right on the water. The school is well looked after by the staff, parents, community, and Military (eventhough it is not a DOD school). The mission of Sigsbee Charter School is to teach the boys and girls to learn and make smart choices. You will find an unhappy parent if you really look but that is true in every school..if you look at what the negative comment below says you can read between the lines to see that the problem is not the Teacher. Kids have to have bounderies and it is not fair to the other students in the class if the teacher only focuses on one child because they wont be active in the class..with the class. I would also like to point out that this is a charter school...the parent CHOOSES to go here. All you have to do is spend an hour or so at the school to see this is an important stop in your childs learning carreer. Side note this is a K-8 school and includes a VPK program on site.
1/28/2012otherSigsbee Charter School is a dimond in the rough! The K and 1st grade programs are FANTSTIC! I have worked with teachers in these grade levels and can report that they are consummate professionals- skilled at their craft. Only in it's second year of being open Sigsbee has set themselves apart from it's peer schools. The faculty works diligently to research and develop curriculum that is cutting edge. They work to secure grants and bring PROFESSINALS in the field of education to their faculty to provide trainning in the most up to date methods of teaching. WONDERFUL!
12/11/2011parentWe are very disappointed with this school. I was very excited for my little boy(5) to start school here initally. We have a very energetic little boy. He needs activities to keep his focus. Otherwise he gets into trouble because he's bored. She is at a point with him that she is no longer interested in helping him to excel. She has isolated him in a seat all alone and just sends his work home to complete. So, this school is nothing to get excited over. Maybe it's just his teacher. I'm really not sure but it's not a good situation for my son.
