| 4/27/2010 | student | This school is the best school I have went to and probably will ever go to. Yes, some bad things have happened at this school that gave it a bad reputation, but thats just the students and very few are badly behaved. This school has WONDERFUL teachers that are very supportive and tell you what you have to improve on to have better grades. This school is AMAZING and I am glad my mom and I chose this as our first choice. I would reccomend this school for middle schoolers. |
| 3/26/2010 | parent | As a parent of two students attending Varsity Lakes Middle School I can say that I am so very happy that I made this my 1st choice. This is a new and exciting staff. The teachers here are all top notch and committed to giving our children the education thet derserve. My daughter comes home as excited as she did in elemenatry school about math. I have had on occasion contacted teachers about my childrens grades and each one has been very supportive. They are all willing to help with any issues you might have. There is an after school program that is staffed by teachers to help your child with there academics. I feel very confident that my children are getting an outstanding education at Varsity Lakes Middle School. For my family this was the right choice. |
| 3/10/2010 | teacher | As a teacher at Varsity Lakes, I am constantly impressed with the students, parents, staff and administration of our school. Varsity Lakes is an 'A' school and provides a safe and enjoyable environment for our students to learn. The focus here is constantly on academic achievment, while providing a multitude of activities for students to be involved in such as: Odyssey of the Mind, Band, Intermurals, Pep Club and many more! I am proud to be a part of this outstanding school! |
| 6/13/2008 | parent | Having had children in the Lee County School District for over 16 years, my experience with VLMS has been extremely rewarding. We have two currently attending and wish the school was built when the older children were attending middle school. The rapport between the teachers and students/parents is welcome and immediate. The energy of this young staff is infectious and encouraged. The principal, Ron Davis, is very proud of this school and his pride shows in every detail: from the architecture to the content staff and high-achieving students. Our children love their school as do we! |
| 8/30/2007 | parent | My son attended 6th grade at this school in 2006-07. He had a great experience and his best school year ever academically -- final grade were all A's. And he was in advanced classes doing 7th grade work! The work was challenging and he learned a lot. Windjammer Team teachers were exceptional! All very young, excited to be teaching, interesting and energetic. I think the fact that he was in the advanced classes was a hugh plus though as kids were very well behaved and teachers had to deal with very few discipline problems. I also give very high marks to the principal, Mr. Ron Davis, who seems very involved with the kids. I am comparing this school with the ones my son attended in NY for grades K-4 and would say it matches in quality of and exceeds in quantity of educational learning. |
| 11/21/2006 | parent | I have completely lost all faith in the staff and teachers at this school. The parent comment above is so true. The teachers do not teach a positive learning enviroment and the children pick up on this. Disipline is not handled properly. All round the school is on my F list. Please save your child and not enter them into this school. More parents should express how they feel on this issue, so maybe the district will look into it before the drop out rate from this school rises. |
| 7/18/2006 | parent | My daughter had a very negative experience with the teacher-student relationship with her math teacher. Whenever my daughter asked for assistance in a chapter that she had difficulty with the teacher would respond that had she been paying attention she wouldn't be asking for help. The scrutiny that she received from her math teacher was enough to prevent her from approaching the teacher with further questions and as a result her math grade and comprehension for math this past school year dropped. When I addressed the principal with my concerns, I was told that it was a personality problem between the teacher and student. I feel that the teachers in general in this school lack rapport with the students not so much because of personality conflict but because they simply do not care. |
