4/12/2012parentMy daughter has attended St. Andrew since Pre-K and is now about to finish the 1st grade. Her first 2 years were good; the amount of information she learned was phenomenal. She is reading at a 3rd grade level and doing great in all subjects. Unfortunately we are not returning because my daughter has been bullied by an older student on several occasions and as a parent I feel the school is not doing enough to prevent it from reoccuring. So overall, if the dress code were a little more lenient (my daughter was forced to remove her earrings that she had been wearing for 2+ yrs because her new teacher's preference was different than prior teachers; also the uniforms are very expensive and bargain [matching] substitutes are not allowed) and there wasn't the bully issue... we would be returning my daughter as a student. Bullying is not okay in our home and I would be contradicting what we've taught her if we continue sending her to a school that is not doing more to protect her and make her feel that it won't happen again. If you choose this school... big piece of advise is LISTEN to your CHILD when he/she tells you about problems with other students or teachers!
12/8/2011parentHORRIBLE SCHOOL. 3 different teachers physically hit and pushed my child at this school. Also, they fit 30-35 kids in 1 classroom. Your child does not get much attention. It's not about the St. Andrew Family getting bigger, its about your child getting less attention and the school making more money; Think about it! Also, There are a lots bullies at this schools. The location is also not so good. Enrolled my child at another private school and she is doing great. Even in a public school your child will learn more than St. Andrew, Why? because Public schools teacher-student ratio is less than 19 children per class and their curriculum are much more advance. Believe it when your children tell you they don't like St. Andrew; they tell you that for a reason!
8/15/2009studentI went to St. Andrew Catholic School for 9 years and graduated in 2008. This school has great techers. It also has a great principal and vice principal. This school is like no other. Its very diverse and has many cultures. I'm glad I went to SAS! Go Spartans! (Go Apopka Blue Darters!)
5/13/2008parentWe love St. Andrew! My two girls are in 6th and 3rd grade and they have great teachers and enjoy their friends. They are growing deeper in their relationships with God as well. I do not doubt that they are receiving a wonderful education. My brothers and sister and I all attended St. Andrew when we were kids. We all attended great colleges and enjoy fullfilling careers. Go Spartans!
1/14/2008parentMy daughter is in her second year at St. Andrew Catholic. I am very pleased with the school and intend to re-enroll for the next school year. My daughter has received a great base for learning and faith foundation. The new principal this year is fantastic. SAS has parents that are involved in the school. SAS is a very close community and very like family.
7/27/2007parentMy child will be entering her 4th year at St. Andrew. We have been nothing but pleased with the teaching staff. The children are taught the basics in a caring, culturally diverse, peaceful Christian environment. Teachers do a wonderful job of enhancing learning with meaningful and special projects and programs. With the addition of a new principal this year (formerly an asst. principal at another outstanding diocesan school) there is an air of excitement and anticipation. St. Andrew is safe, has a fantastic academic program in all grades, quality teachers, and has a nice compliment of extracurricular activities. The parents are supportive, and the school community feels like 'home' and a 'family'. We are pleased to have our child continue at St. Andrew Catholic School and look forward to many more years here.
1/20/2006parentThe academic program is very strong. The teachers and professional and certified. The principal is great and very dynamic. I love the school
1/19/2006parentFaith formation, culturally diverse, caring and qualified teachers. The principal is dynamic. The best choice in Orlando. I love the school!
4/11/2005parentThe academic programs need to be improved as the students are falling behind the public school students. In addition there is a high teacher turnover rate (6 left this year in the middle of the year!) as well as a high family turnover rate. The area has went down in the past few years. Class sizes average about 30 students, which is higher than the average public school classroom. Therefore, children don't receive enough attention.
1/26/2004parentMy experience at SAS, has been great. This school exemplifies the example of friendship, leadership, academics, responsibility and accountability with a good measure of parental involvement. They educate the whole child without making silly excuses that will only promote children becoming dependent, incapable adults. SAS is a great school!
1/26/2004parentSt. Andrew Catholic School is a wonderful school. It provides an education to form well rounded individuals that will be contributing members of society. The curriculum is challenging yet, allowing an atmosphere of enjoyment and fun for all attending. The family environment and caring environment makes you be attached. I attended St. Andrew and my children now attend this great school. The leadership of the school, Mrs. Toro is one that sets a positive tone for the community. I would not send my children to any other school.
1/22/2004parentI have 3 children in St Andrews, each very different in disposition and talent. The school has done a great job of providing each one with the education they need as individuals. The school requires a great deal of parent involvement, but all the parents treat each other like family and watch over each other. It is an amazingly warm environment. My children have benefits they would never ever have in any other public or private arena.
1/20/2004parentSt. Andrew School is a wonderful place filled with kind teachers and a principal that takes the time to listen to concerns and will do something about it. My children have been attending for the last two years and I feel their quality of education is on the mark for their grade levels. But most of all I feel like St. Andrew Catholic school is our home. I feel that my children are safe and secure and that the children's best interest always comes first.
1/20/2004parentMy child attends this school and I have found no reason for him not to. The teachers are A+, The children are always attended to by an adult. In my opinion this school is the best kept secret in the Orlando Diocese.
1/20/2004parentMy son has attended this school for 3 years and I am extremely satisfied with the teachers commitment to him. This year in first grade his teacher suggested he attend the Sylvan reading program (provided by the school) and his reading skills have increased to a point where he loves to read now. I am secure in the safety of the school and know that he is well taken care of when I leave him there every day.
1/20/2004parentWe love St. Andrew! It provides our children with a great catholic education. The children at the school are very well behaved and respectful of others. The teachers are awesome and the school has very low teacher turn over!
1/20/2004parentMy family has been with St Andrews for the pass 26yrs. I have watch St Andrews change over the years for the better. We are on our third gerneration going to St Andrews School about to move to our fourth. The teacher are very helpful with my son that has ADHD; if there is any problems with him I know that day not on report card day. His teachers has always taken the time to call or write. I have reseached other schools private/public. They don't do half of what St Andrews will do to work with parents and there students. He is also in Soccer and Cub Scouts. This is a school/church inviroment that is great for any family and worth the prices. I feel it comes down to what do we want for child. This mother wants the best and St. Andrews School is that. G.Thomas
9/13/2003parentWe would not send our children to St. Andrew's school for the following reasons: Children safety is questionable. Children with special needs are not welcome. The fees does not merit the quality of the education. Administration's handling of parents's concerns is biased. Issues are not resolved.
