| 8/12/2012 | parent | This is a great school for education. The school has a lot to offer for the students. |
| 12/14/2011 | parent | My daughter goes here she does not feel safe and some of the staff and teachers are rude and give to much info. to there students. |
| 9/30/2011 | parent | The comments below are all very true. The pre IB program does tend to load the kids with homework (often I think just for the heck of it) to the point that the program drop out rate once in high school is high. The magnet program attracts kids from many areas of the county along with those who are naturally assigned to the area. The neighborhood is among the poorest in the county and not something to be proud of, but generally safe once inside. The admin is decent (not great) and the magnet teachers are excellent for public based teachers. Recommend this for kids in pre IB or gifted program- but not general attendance. |
| 8/28/2011 | parent | We are so glad we made the move from our neighborhood middle school to Millennium's pre-IB program. This is a very well-run school. We've had excellent teachers, exceeding our expectations (which are pretty high) . The wide range of interesting electives helps students find new interests. Beyond performing arts, the Pre-Law courses are also impressive. The campus security is good compared with other schools, completely fenced in. The Pre-IB program is not super rigorous, it is challenging but not overwhelming for a college-bound student. The GEMS accelerated math track (the level above advanced math) can provide addtional challenge. With the exceptional course offerings, this is like a private prep school with no tuition. I highly recommend Millennium and am very pleased we made the out-of-zone leap. A few extra miles away, but such a positive experience we couldn't have had otherwise. Take a tour, you'll see. |
| 7/17/2011 | parent | We are so happy with this school. Our daughter was teased for not going to our neighborhood school, because of the "neighborhood" this school is located. She loves her school. Ms. Parkhurst puts her heart and soul into her students. She encourages them to get involved outside of the school. Her IB teachers are tough, but encouraging. There are so many options of electives, I have heard more then one parent say they wished they could go back to school! There is a lot of love there and not so much of the Mama drama. In fact, the parental involvement is the only thing lacking, compared to other schools. I guess a sign of the times. |
| 12/18/2010 | other | This school is really good ive been going here since 6th grade and it so much stuff from dancing to normal IT classes and it offers high school classes here as well the staff is great and so is the adminastrators, they are really safe they have gates right around the school and secruity walking around school where ever you go. this school is the best i highly recommend this for any incoming students. |
| 9/3/2010 | parent | we miss the great teachers and programs at this school...top notch! Some people worry about the neighborhood this school is in, the great programs at this school far out weigh any worries of where it is located! |
| 2/10/2010 | parent | My child did not feel safe at this school. The academics programs were not challenging for my child. I would not recommend this school. |
| 9/16/2009 | parent | We enjoy the Cultural Arts part of the school |
| 10/1/2008 | parent | So far everything is great for my daughter in the pre-IB program. Teacher and school communication has been excellent. She is challenged, not overwhelmed and enjoying her classes. |
| 5/31/2008 | parent | Mrs. Gingeld is the best! her style of teaching is conducive to learning. students know she cares about them not only as students, but as people. Her writing scores are among the highest in the school. No The students talk about her all the time. Wish she would move to Seminole HS. She is the one great thing about MMS! |
| 10/19/2007 | parent | Millennium has been a wonderful experience for my two children. We chose (were selected through lottery) Millennium even though we were 'zoned' for another school. It was the best decision we could have made for our kids. The campus is beautiful and well-maintained. The principal is a strong and caring administrator. The teachers and staff also truly care about the students and are very responsive. One of my children is in the Pre-IB program, and the other is not. I can say with confidence that they both are receiving a top-notch quality education. When you walk around campus, you can feel a very real positive spirit. And the number of electives my children have the opportunity to take is absolutely incredible. |
| 7/19/2007 | student | well i'm a student of this school i enjoy every thing its a very safe school lots of parents dont like this school because they here bad stuff about that school.the principals and the teachers are great.i like this because everyone that works in that school actually cares about us they treat us like family, and by us i mean the student body, the kids, that us.teachers take there time to teach us (the students) more or stuff that we did not understand.no parent knows how the school is unless you teach, work,or learns there.so i don't know why parents think it such a bad school. to me its one of the best schools i've gone to. |
| 6/15/2006 | parent | My daughter loves Millennium Middle School. She is in the Pre-IB program and she feels intellectually motivated and challenged by the curriculum. She enjoys her teachers and she enjoys their no nonsense attitude towards their subjects and their students. She had come from a private school and she was a bit apprehensive about what would be in store for her at Millennium but she and we (her parents) were pleasantly surprised. The Pre-IB courses are challenging, but not overly difficult and the atmosphere of the school is very conducive to learning. Awards, certificates, medals and ribbons are passed out regularly to successful students and parents are almost always invited to view the ceremony. The self esteem of the students is a high priority at the school. We love Millennium Middle School: my daughter is happy and learning. We couldn't ask for more. |
| 5/28/2006 | parent | My daughter loves Millennium Middle but does not feel safe. She says alot of the students are rude and 'scary'. I also believe the school does not participate in many state sponsored competitions. |
| 2/16/2006 | teacher | Millennium Middle School has wonderful caring teachers who truly do take the time to work with their students. The programs they offer range from orff instruments to rotc and 3-d art. There is always something new for students to try. |
| 1/26/2006 | parent | Although it's a nice effort at voluntary desegregation, I have been disappointed with the Pre-IB & Magnet school. They aren't well-funded or staffed, and due to magnet students being bussed in, they can't easily stay and participate in extracurricular activities. There is a lot of busywork put on the gifted students, but I haven't seen a corresponding balance of brain-challenging and support from the teachers. A classic example of regular people teaching gifted people, they don't communicate well. There's also a dearth of opportunities for the students to inter-relate socially. The admin staff really does seem to try and do the right thing, I'm just underwhelmed by the pre-IB teaching staff. There are some great opportunities for electives, if the other things don't bother you. |
| 10/9/2005 | parent | Great school. Great class selection. Our daughter is loving it here - 6th grade. |
| 8/25/2005 | student | This school is good but does have things to work on. They have an orchestra program which is satisfying but they have gone through severela teachers quite rapidly... |
| 4/28/2005 | teacher | Millennium is a magnet school for Arts and Communications. Their programs ranging from Strings Orchestra to Boys dance are fantastic. Academically , they have the pre-IB program for those gifted students. The regular ed classes are run by highly talented and very caring professionals. They focus on staying ahead of the legislative requirements, already having a course of study for those students who struggle on the FCAT. I would reccomend them to anyone. |
| 4/19/2005 | parent | My nieces and nephews have all come through this school and have exceeded very well. This school has a great teacher to student ratio and the vieriety of choices are great. The preparation for our Fla. FCAT is very good with a good percentage of passing rate. |
| 4/19/2005 | parent | The Pre-IB program is very good. My daughter will have highschool Algebra I and Spanish I completed before she starts high school. Band and drama activities have been good for her. Too bad Mr. Griffin moved to Seminole High last year-he was an excellent principal.Good safety and caring teachers. |
| 12/31/2004 | parent | An incredible school. Great performing arts department. |
| 12/8/2004 | student | This is an excellent school with a great mix of ethnicity. The principal is okay but, he keeps the kids in line. It is rated a B school This is the most friendliest atmosphere where people except you for who you are. It is also a Fine Arts school so you have a lot more choices than other schols; A lot more! They also have Pre- IB and it is rated the best middle school in the district. If your child goes through the Pre- IB program at Millennium, they have a very good chance of getting into any college they want. |
| 6/28/2004 | staff | This is a beautiful new campus but I am NOT happy with the county on how they built this school. At the time of building they were 'replacing' an existing school with this building built about 500 feet away. Once the school was built they tore down the old school and within one year had 3 portables on the same spot. Within 3 years they have over 20 portables on the spot where they just tore down a perfectly suitable building! The principal change this year has NOT been good for this school. This is supposed to be an arts magnet but the arts are not given the position they should be. There are NO auditions for placement in any field and when there are there has to be demographic quotas. Keyboard classes are POOR and mostly there is a desire for more 'elementary school' music in the form of Orff. |
| 2/21/2004 | parent | To the parent that said Millennium has low scores... It is an 'A' school... Because of its popularity, and large size, in order to feed all of the students it is necessary to have the lunches organized and not chaotic. It's a great school with many choices and caring, carefully chosen teachers. |
| 1/8/2004 | parent | To those parents who have written negative things about our school may a bit harsh. I don't doubt that their are bullies in the school, but every school has them. MMS has a zero tolerance for such behavior. My suggestion to you is to get involved with PTSA, SAC or Dividiend. Opportunites are open during regualr business hours and evenings too. Because our school is so diversified, it allows all children from all backgrounds to attend, which makes it such an awesome place to study. It simply prepares your child for the next phase in life. Communcation, working together, and learning to cope. This is my fourth year at MMS and I would not go anywhere else. The Principal is by far the most involved administrator I've met. And I have 5 children, 25-6 years old. |
| 11/22/2003 | parent | This school is 'ok' but it's not great. The teachers seem to pick favorites which really disturbs me. Although the principal is the greatest. the bullies are way out of hand. the cafeteria is crazy. i think that they should give the children a right to sit wherever they want and be able to talk through the whole lunch period. this is their one moment of free time and they can't even have it! |
| 11/10/2003 | parent | This school is the worst I have ever seen. My daughter has been physically threatened on more than one occasion. The staff takes little or no action when complaints are filed. The school is very disorganized. The test scores are extremely low and I see no action by the teachers to correct them. When you attempt to contact the teachers or counselors by email, they do not respond until the problem has been significantly escalated, e.g. school board. The school is very crowded. I strongly recommend you do not place your student in this school or any Sanford school. The crime rate for Sanford is well above the national average. |
| 9/9/2003 | parent | My son attended a private school, but was not getting what he needed to keep him interested. My son has been in the Pre-Ib program for 2 years now and I would recommend it to anyone who is not happy with their present school. It has kept my son interested in school because they keep his mind busy by challenging his intellectual side. My son and I both love the program and the school. I am so happy we took him out of the private school. He is finally getting what he needs. |
| 8/26/2003 | parent | Great school with an excellent elective package, comparable to a high school. Students can take classes in strings, web page, visual arts, band, chorus, keyboards, pre-law and communications. Great young staff!! |
| 7/8/2003 | | Great school, escpecially Pre IB program. Very challenging and rewarding. I had my 2 kids graduating from it, and I would place my third one also in the program. The string orchestra is awsome, I would recommend it to anyone who loves music. All the teachers are excellent and they do care about our kids. I would give A+ to the school. Thank you |
| 6/18/2003 | | Millennium Middle School was probably the best experience we have had. The school is truly a good one, the teachers there are interested in helping the kids learn. Mr. Griffon the Principal is the greatest person to speak to. They care a great deal about the students and the quality of education. The three years my child attended her grades improved greatly. She was stimulated, encouraged, egar to be in this enviroment. I would back this school 100%, the only problem is slight over crowding which we did not have in 6th grade. The campus is clean and safe, as are the children. I would rate it one of the best schools my child was in. It is a great Middle School with a staff that does really care about safety, respect, language. Nothing gets past them. |
