| 8/22/2011 | parent | I was very excited when my child was finally old enough to go to school and not just any school, the same school that I attended for my entire elementary education. However, I was VERY DISPLEASED with the lack of organization and knowledge from the preK staff! They did not even have the "cubbies" cleaned out for the students to hang their backpacks on. They had no organization in the class room, and today my child still does not even know his teacher or classmates names (shouldn't that be something the cover on the 1st day!?!?). So overall, I am sad to say that I would not recommend HTE preK to anyone who wants more for their child than a daycare. |
| 6/21/2011 | parent | love the shool and the office staff everyone at the school is great my kids love it |
| 4/28/2010 | parent | I love the facilty and the overall curriculim for the 4th grade at Hickory Tree Elementary School! I am pleased with the job Mr. Scott Knoeble is doing as Principal and am especially honored that Mrs. Anna Myers is my daughter's Teacher. She makes school a fun place to learn! I think HTE is an A+ school and wouldn't want my daughter attending school anywhere but HTE! |
| 9/16/2009 | parent | It's the same school I went to when I was a little one and now my son goes there they have the best staff/teachers/principal anyone could ever ask for. They are always there for you and help out whenever needed!!! |
| 3/27/2008 | parent | For the most part our experiences here at HTE have been very good, but there has been more then a couple of incidents were I have had to deal with the office staff, my son's teacher & the principal & I was less then happy with how my son & myself were treated. I have voiced matters that are areas of my concern & even though I was listened to, I feel as if my concerns were just dismissed. The educational staff is there to teach our children, to take care of our children, & to keep them safe. Yet we as parents get an attitude and our tax dollars pay for these people to have a job. |
| 1/31/2008 | parent | I love Hickory Tree Elementary. It is one of the best elementary schools in Osceola County. The teachers and staff are great. |
| 12/3/2007 | parent | Hickory Tree is a very good school. One of the best elementary school. |
| 8/29/2007 | parent | HTE is a wonderful school. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in just about any area. The teachers are caring & willing to go 'the extra mile.' The students are more than ready for the FCAT in the Spring, as well. This is a safe, caring environment for children! Go HTE Hawks! |
| 6/29/2007 | parent | Congratulations on getting an 'A' rating. Great teachers, excellent students, make for a great school! |
| 6/8/2007 | parent | I am not happy at all with this past school year (2006-2007). My son has been at HTE since we transferred here his kindergarten year in 2003 at which time HTE was a wonderful place to be! I have always had a good relationship with his teachers and the staff until this year. It seems the teachers were distant and not caring and the principal was never present. Although my son did well academically, it was a struggle at times. I felt as if I had to teach him the subject matter at home to keep him from falling behind. When I voiced my concern his teachers became defensive and said they didn't have time to check everyone's work. I sincerely hope this year HTE will be back to the school we all know and love. |
| 5/28/2007 | parent | I have been a parent at Hickory Tree for 3 years now. I love this school. I think the staff is very professional and honest. They are always willing to go an extra mile. In this time and day that is hard to come by. I have always seen tons of parental involvement and mine has always been welcomed. This is an excellent school with excellent teachers. |
| 4/26/2007 | parent | I am very disappointed with the administration and lack of parent involvement at Hickory Tree. I volunteered on a weekly basis and was surprised by the low staff moral and marginal participation on behalf of the principal. Parents are extremely reluctant to become involved based on the attitudes from the staff. I am satisfied with the music, art and physical education programs. I have been very happy with my child's teacher. |
| 1/30/2007 | parent | After reading some of the reviews about HTE, I feel I must speak up. This is an exceptional school. However, no matter where your child attends school, the major key is parent involvement. If you visit HTE on a regular basis, you will see we have an outstanding staff that truly cares about the safety and success of all of our students. HTE does have some extracurricular activities, but keep in mind most of our students ride buses and do not have transportation if they stay after school hours. Overall, HTE prepares its students very well. I would encourage anyone reading the reviews to come by and take a tour of the campus. |
| 1/14/2007 | parent | We moved to the district last year. I have not been happy with this school overall. I expected much better from this school. |
| 5/10/2006 | parent | We have had our children attend this school since 1995 and we have been nothing but happy. The teachers and staff are excellent, and are always willing to help. |
| 1/15/2006 | parent | Staff is friendly for the most part. They use the Project Child teaching strategy. I don't like it really. Teachers are a bit defensive when a parent asks questions, so you always seem to have to see the principal. He is nice but VERY into the Project Child program so there is no hope of losing it. PE coaches are in a world of their own. They require the kids to run laps IF they need to use the restroom because they feel they'll lose instructional time! It's been reported to the School District, to no acclaim. As a parent, you MUST be involved to see that anything gets done. |
| 1/12/2006 | parent | HTE is working very hard to help students succeed. Many targeted students do morning remediation, have a mentor, and attend the Title 1 program or the Fast Forward program. Students are taught about making good choices and what steps to use in order to make those good choices happen. Students have art, music, PE, Counciling, media, and SRO at least once every seven days for 45 minutes. Parents are welcome to volunteer, involved with cooking, crafts, small group assistance, as mentors, field trips. They also have a school newsletter that comes home once a month to inform them about what is happening at our school. |
| 7/6/2005 | teacher | The school is moving to all Project Child classes. This is poor teaching methos with unproven results. It is very hard on any children with emotional or learning problems. Student have much less time with each teacher and do not form meaningful relationships with staff as easily. |
| 6/21/2005 | parent | The school is a very friendly place for the student to go to. The music dept is very good and they teach reading very well. |
| 5/24/2005 | parent | I have two children attending this school. My children came to this school in Novemeber when they started attending their grades were down by a lot. Finishing up the school year my children have improved a lot. They have brought their grades up and even one made the honor roll this grading period. Their teachers are great they stayed in touch with me and always let me know what they were doing. I big THANK YOU to the whole school. You guys are wonderful. I will have one attending next year and look forward to working with you all again. My Fifth grader is pepared for Middle School. Again A big THANKS! Keep up the good work. |
| 1/7/2005 | parent | This is a wonderful school. My daughter enjoyed it and did well both academically and socially. The staff is friendly, and parents are often invited to the school. My daughter and I enjoyed 'Family Fun Night' once a month which included free pizza and songs, games of crafts for the family. I really enjoyed thier Storybook Parade' once a year where the children and staff dress up as characters from their favorite book. |
| 6/5/2004 | parent | Both of my children have atttended HTE. I believe that the school is a good place for many children, especially those in danger of falling behind. There are many programs to keep the children on a track to maintain grade-level performance. However, I do not believe that it is the correct environment for students that could really excel if given the chance. At no time were my children challenged to exceed average standards. Although they did--which was great. I believe that every child is in need of that extra push, not just the one's that are having trouble. Leaving a child that is above average to do average work only enforces the fact that they do not 'need' to be better than average. |
| 4/16/2004 | parent | I love this school and the teachers I have met, which is several are very good. My child is in the project child and I really do see the difference. There is more structure and she is more disciplined and is accepting more responsibility. My daughter is blossoming in this school. My daughter been to several schools and I found this one is the best one. She is being challenged academically. |
| 8/26/2003 | parent | I love this school. The student incentives to do well in behavior and academics are ingenious. My daughter loves to go to school and loves the teachers that she has come into contact with. The faculty there is like family.Highly recommended. Would not have my child attend anywhere else. |
| 8/21/2003 | parent | Even though my girls are not at HTE anymore, this have been the best school they have attended. Everybody in the staff is nice, and they are very concern about the students performance and safety. I will recommend HTE 100%. |
| 7/25/2003 | parent | Hickory Tree is a wonderful school. I am very pleased with the progrss that my son has made there. He is excited about going to school and reads well above grade level. The administration and staff are caring, supportive, and intellegent. They care about our kids education, social development, and provide many great 'extras' to recognize and celebrate student achievement! I am a very pleased parent! |
| 7/15/2003 | parent | Unhappy with the school this year, 2002-2003. Administration is not helpful and moral in the school is poor. My child enjoyed computer class in the past but it was not offered this year. I am changing schools due to the pushing of FCAT and not teaching more important subjects. My child had a lack of interest in school. |
