He enjoys his teachers hands on approach to making learning fun. He likes all the special classes like, spanish, P.E., Art and Music. Which are very important to me as a parent. It seems like most of these have been taken away from so many schools and I am happy that they still provide those very important life tools to their students. My child looks forward to school everyday. He try's to learn and be the best he can be, but it takes a lot of work from him. School is not super easy for him, so making it fun and keeping his attention is award winning in my book. Please give this school consideration when evaluating america's winning schools. Jan Munroe on the leadership team is also without equal. I attended this school for kindergarten and am now an educator myself. The calibur of the school is even more excellent now than when I attended more than 25 years ago. They are most worthy of this honor and distinction. |

It is evident that the faculty and staff strive to ensure that each child learns to be proactive in their education and take pride in their achievements. This year especially Kaitlyn has shown considerable growth and a desire to step outside of her comfort zone and become more independent in the classroom. I know that some schools in our county have recieved unsatisfactory special education reviews; however, I am proud to say that at Coal Mountain my child has been given every opportunity to succeed and thrive. We have worked with Mr. Reed and his team who have gone above and beyond in regards to my daughter's academic needs and development. She feels secure and capable in her abilities in part because of Mr. Reed's continued support. Mrs. Arner has bolstered her confidence in the classroom setting and has helped strengthen Kaitlyn's belief in her abilities in subjects she had previously required additional support. We are very proud of Kaitlyn's accomplishments and the proactive efforts of Coal Mountain Elementary School in her continued success. Both my girls love going to school and they are excited when they come home to share their daily accounts from Math, Science, and Music to Spanish, Art, and Social Studies. Having moved from out of state we have experienced other schools over the last six years, we have spoken with many teachers and faculty and I can say with conviction that Coal Mountain is superior. The faculty and staff are ever present and helpful, they know who I am when I come in the office. All activities are structured to be inclussive for all grade levels, no child is left out of even the smallest of events. From the moment you set foot in the building you know that Coal Mountain is a very special school. If any school is deserving of this award, it is Coal Mountain Elementary. Their dedication to excellence and desire to provide every child with the tools necessary to learn sets them apart from all the others. |

Primary school is where u pick up the foundation on which 2 build the rest of ur education; so it is very important. The teachers/staff r friendly & helpful. I have noticed that I'm not the only parent that likes 2 b involved w/ my childs education. We [the parents] act like a team here. I like that they can maintain the small town feel & still offer top notch education. I can only hope that they can expand the building 1 day so that more students can have the 'Miners' advantage! Bottom line is I am glad that my child has had such a successful yr & I know that it's due largely 2 the determination of her dedicated teachers & their hands-on learning styles. |

The academics are great, the extracurricular could use a bit of a more personal touch, but I think this essentially boils down to parental involvement... and there is a lot of this at Coal Mountain Elementary. It's key to note that in any school you'll have teachers that are better than others, which is why it's important for parents to be involved in their child's education from the start. |

The teachers are wonderful and challenge the students. The school is very organized and provides the proper discipline. The Parent Teacher Organization is very strong and the parents running it are very dedicated. The students are prepared for the CRCT and the test scores reflect the wonderful education being provided by Coal Mountain. I would recommend this school to anyone interested in moving into the area. |

Also, the principal and staff have always been approachable and have been very open to ideas. We have had very good teachers and our curriculum seems to be up to date and they make use of cutting edge technology. Also, it has that small town feel but is involved in a top notch school system so we have the big town advantage. I would highly recommend this school. |

Our family has been exposed to deceitful, uncooperative administrators and teachers and a negative learning experience for our children. Many of the parents in my neighborhood have had the same experiences and the position of assistant principal has not been stable. Overall, I would say that regardless of the impressiveness of their test scores, choose another school. I have heard that Big Creek and Sawnee are both good schools from people I know who have moved out of our district. |
