10/30/2012parentMy son has been at this school for 3 years, has been nothing but awful experience. I do not have the means to get him to a different school. There is no contact from the teachers at all unless I initiate it. It is extremely frustrating situation has affected our entire family. Seems that no one cares about the students unless they are in sports. Being as my son is not there are no extra help or extra credit offered to him. He is treated like he is nothing. There are a few very few that care. I will not be sending my other child to this school when it is time.
9/14/2012parentUnfortunately I do agree with the previous review. WFHS's new administration with few exceptions seems to have disappeared from view. Guess the principal stays out of sight, seems to be absent at most parent invited meetings. Most parents I know do not even know what the principal looks like. This school needs a vibrant, social, highly visible leader with exceptional motivational skills to pull it out from under and inject some fire into teachers, students and parents. There is next to no parent involvement with the exception of sports and maybe theater. There is no coordination between coaches and teachers schedules and plans leaving students and parents with mixed messages as to which is considered more important to the administration. Hope they take a look at leadership soon, this school could be the Forsyth County standout but remains marginal and stagnant. There are some really good teachers this school cannot afford to lose.
9/13/2012parentNotice the trend in the reviews; it is not a coincidence. Parents that have the means and opportunity tend to take their kids out of WFHS. If they are eligible, they send them to NFHS. If not, they send them to private school. The school is basically a life support system for a sports program. Beyond that, unless a teacher is among the cronies, they are badly demoralized by a heavy handed administration. The administration knows that unlike customers, families cycle out in four years, right on queue. They just wait you out.
7/18/2012parentMy daughter has had an amazing experience but it is mostly because I have been involved every step of the way. Teachers are hit or miss and the Theater program is award winning but the director is a true dictator.
3/14/2012otherIt is disappointing and frustrating that a community with so many resources cannot do better than West Forsyth High School. The condition of the grounds, for a nearly new school, is symbolic of the neglect there. As others have pointed out, the teachers are disaffected and are programmed to punch-the-clock, right on queue. The discipline is also contingent upon whether the student is among the crony families at the school. I feel terrible that I subjected my oldest to the cess pool that is the WFHS administration; I didn't repeat that mistake with the rest of my kids.
11/8/2011studentHonestly this is easily the worst school in the county and it just keeps getting worse. We had a good principal up until this year then he resigned , leaving a horrible administration even worse. The school looks and is run like a prison, a majority of the teachers can't teach to save their lives, and the school itself is not even maintained well. It opened 4 years ago and over half the water fountains dont even work already, just to give you a picture of how well they maintain it.
12/27/2010studentThis school is the worst school in the county. the teachers are pitiful and their teaching skills are below average standards. The administration and staff care nothing for the students and sometimes take part in bullying them as well. While this only applies to some teahers, the students who play sports are favored and can be given extra credit while other students cannot. I, being a student who plays sports has noticed this wildly throughout the school. I know for a fact that if i had children , I would never send them here unless the administration and most of the staff is totally different. i cannot wait to leave this prison.
12/14/2010studentThis school will either be the worst or best you've ever been too, sometimes at the same time. Some of the teachers are amazing and really take the time to teach the material in a manner the students understand but is also challenging and deep, especially in the AP program. On the other hand some teachers are either teaching subjects they are not suited for, have visibly given up on student or teaching, or do not try and teach but rather hand out information and opinions. Whether this school is good or not really comes down to the luck of the draw, in what teachers you have. The administration operates in much the same way, as do all the programs through out the school.
12/13/2010studentI left West Forsyth this year because of the poor teaching quality. The teachers appear to really not have a clue on what they are teaching (with an exception of a few). The students don't get along very well with each other and for a school in a county as small as Forsyth, that's really strange. My brother moved from West his freshman year and transferred to North Forsyth because of the horrible administration and staff. Yes, the sports program is very good, but thats really all I can say good about West. I do not recommend going there.
5/5/2010parentGood teachers -- arrogant leadership favoritism towards football players & wrestlers! nothing is organized or managed well. School is set up like a prison.
3/17/2010parentWe are very pleased with this school. Our son is in honors/accelerated classses and appreciates all of his teachers. He spends a lot of time with homework. One thing that is noticeable is the attention paid to footballers compared to musicians/band, soccer and other sportsplayers. Little communication is given for these other endeavors which leave them a bit abandoned in terms of audience. Doesn't seem to be much parent involvement which at the highschool level isn't all bad. Overall we are very happy and feel very lucky to have such a great scool.
3/15/2010studentAt this school the administration and punishment are not well revised. It is clearly unfair and being in an aflunint area, some of the relationships with the administrators and students do not add up. The teachers, most of them, don't know how to teach or what they teach. Although the sports programs are very good it does not out way the low academic program. I would not recommend this school to other students.
3/22/2009parentWest Forsyth has some great teachers. Too bad they have such horrible leadship. The principal cares nothing about these students.
3/3/2009parentExcellent High School!!! West Forsyth High School has surpassed our expectations through the schools leadership, teachers and academic programs. Parent communication is well organized and informative.
3/2/2009parentThis has been my daughter's 1st year of high school and we have been very impressed with the administrators and teachers. We feel well informed of what to expect academically. My daughter feels the students are warm and welcoming and has made many new friends. The sports programs are excellent.
12/28/2008parentMy daughter atttended North Forsyth for two years. Now she is at West Forsyth. This school is horrible. The bullying that goes on, to the oblivious teachers is ridiculous. We have tried to get her out of the school! The teachers don't understand what they are teaching.
6/14/2008studentI'm a junior and compared to my last school (South Forsyth) this school is horrible. There are a few good teachers, but a majority are terrible. I feel as if I have forgotten more than I learned this year. I will be a senior next year thank God. If I had more than a year left at this school I would have to go to a private school.
5/29/2008parentAfter it's first year of operation, this school is well on its way to becoming an excellent attribution to the community .
