9/16/2009parentI used to sub at Seminole Co. Elem. Sch. The teachers and staff are awesome! They are dedicated to the education of our children.
10/15/2008parentGreat school especially in the K 1 and 2 grades. caring teachers good principal make a good learning place for kids. Smaller classes also good.
9/10/2008parentI absolutely love this school! My daughter is in Pre-K and has Mrs. Libby R. She loves her teacher and loves going to school! She has learned so much and can write her whole name is already starting to lear to read and is only 4!!!
4/22/2008parentwe have been very pleased with the seminole county school system and Dr. Moody, the principal
3/25/2008parentI have 2 children in SCES 1 in pre-k and 1 in the 2nd grade. My pre-k child has a physical disabilty and they do ever thing they can to help him, they special ordered all the special tools he needed to do his work with, they have went way out of their way to help him, and are GREAT at keeping me up to date with his achivements and they teach my new things that help him. My daughter thats in the 2nd grade WOW , she has came so far. Last year she went to school in Alabama and wasn't doing very good she barely passed. This year she is passing with fling colors. The teachers have always welcomed me and my husband to stop by this class at anytime. I give SCES a thumbs up!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!
7/25/2007parentI am a very proud parent of a first grader who attends Seminole Elem., he's very excited about being a student, however I remain calm about the situation that has taken place. I do not feel that all kids are placed in the classes that they need to be placed in. I feel like this will be a hendurance to my child, simply because he is not in the same classes with the kids that is on his learning level. Some parents may feel like this is no big deal, but it is.
1/18/2007parentI am very proud of the Seminole County School system. Not only did I complete my studies there, now my child is being educated. I am very proud of my educational background that prepared me for post studies. My daughter is attending 5th grade, and is excelling with her studies. I appreciate the open door policy that exists. I have had numerous opportunites to communicate with the teachers and principal via Agenda that is furnished by our school at no cost to the parent which is an excellent communication tool, by email or parent/teacher meetings. Our children's education begins at home. Thanks SCES for a good school and great teachers!!! DJH
8/21/2006former studentI would not recommend enrolling a child into this school. The children in the school do not get proper teaching due to the fact that it is so overcrowded. I think it is absurd to even require tests in the schools if our children who have graded well above average on these tests have to be placed in the same classes as those who have tested well below average.
6/9/2006teacherWe teachers here at SCES would love to see more parents involved. I can only speak for the First Grade teachers though. Parents who wish to help tutor kids in reading or math are welcome to come talk to me. I rate our school well. The kids are learning and the faculty is kind, considerate and caring. The negativity I read on this site is surprising since not many parents voice these opinions in person or on surveys we have received. SCES is an accredited elementary with the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges. There are very few Elementary schools that qualify for the SACS accreditation. We have several awards and recognition for maintaining excellence in the past 5 years. Overall SCES is a great small rural area school. Parents come check it out!
7/11/2005parentMy son attended Pre-K and just completed Kindergarten at SCES. Contrary to other opinions, I have never had a problem with the staff at this facility. They have always been approachable and willing to listen to any concerns I might have. Teachers have made extra effort to let me know what my child is doing, even stopping me while shopping just to update me on his progress. My sister has a child that is the same age as my son, and she has received a similar response when working with the staff. Thank you for a job well done!
10/5/2004former studentThis school's special education program is in the most awful stage it has ever been in. The supervisors and teachers of this program are not geared to help the needy children. I have family members that are in this program, and we have had so many problems with the 'higher authorities'. The principal has no desire to help the parents be involved with their students. Also the teachers are negative. I would not recommend anyone put their child in this environment, especially in the special ed program. They just don't seem to have their ducks in a row. Special needs children need one-on-one attention and they don't recieve it. That is the whole purpose for the program. There are too many teachers in the program who just don't know how to handle these special kids.
8/19/2004former studentExcellent school, more specialist and Dr. degrees/capita than any where in the state of Georgia. Made the 'School of Excellence' list 2003-2004, ranking it at #26 of all schools in Georgia. Has Challenge Class's offered for each grade (modified Magnet School format).
3/7/2004parentThis school is not up to standards. The faculty has no concern for the students. They are basically there for a pay check. Parents try to be involved with their children but are basically not welcome in this school. I have made numerous attempts to get involved in my sons activities at this school, but all I get is negativity from the staff.
2/23/2004parentI can totally identify with the parent who had had so much trouble with SCES.I ,too, am a very involved and concerned parent who received no feedback from the school system about my child's performance until I continually stayed on their case. Children are politically manipulated in this school and it is high time someone did something about it . I transferred my child to another school, because we just had too many problems there . I don't recommend anyone to go to this schoo .
7/19/2003parent My child suffered lasting damage from this school. He is an excelerated student who was left to stagnate. When we attempted to address the problem, matters nly worsened. If you are a parent who prefers to be involved in your child's education, then I advise that you stay away from this school. I also worked in this school and the faculty and staff weren't afraid to let it be known that their main concern wasn't the students. The students were just a mean to the end, with the end being funding. The superintendent basically has no control. The teachers, principals, and assistant superintendent has no desire to heard any type of complaint. There isn't instruction geared toward gifted students.
