2/9/2012parentWe were questioning our decision to enroll our kids in MPE because of the rating but we decided to anyway and have been thrilled with the outcome. The small class sizes and less strict atmosphere has helped my children excel because now they LIKE to go to school. They were unhappy where they attended prior to MPE and when I asked my 4th Grader why she was getting good grades consistently now verses some of the time at her old school she said, "Because I'm allowed to have fun!". They still do well on all the standardized test scores, too so it's a win-win for us.
7/29/2011parentMountain Park Elementary has been a wonderful environment for my son attain his early childhood education in. We transferred here from another Lilburn School, and love it much more than the other one. They have many great happenings to help support the school and increase parent involvement throughout the year. My son has really enjoyed his 1st grade year, and is looking forward to 2nd grade. They have a FunRun fundraiser that he really enjoyed, and he went on a field trip to the Georgia Aquarium last year. This has been a very positive and cooperative environment for us to be involved in! The front desk lady is also very sweet.
7/14/2011parentI know you shouldn't judge a school only by ranking points, but what is going on with MPES, Gwinnett. When I first moved into the district it was ranked at 189, that was in the 2007-08 school year. Now we are ranked at 410, an increase from 429 from last year. I hope our ranking continue to go up. We need to support the PTA to get MPES back on top. Schools like Arcado, a great school, who used to have a lower rank than MPES, now ranks higher. I wonder what they have changed/done to turn around that we aren't doing.
12/14/2009parentAbsolutely fabulous. Ms. Gadd is excellent and my daughter loves going to school and loves learning. Many teachers know my daughter by name and I am completely confident in the education that she is getting at MPES.
12/1/2009parentMy kindergartener loves her school! Mrs. Hedrick and Mrs. Stewart are the best, and all the other teachers are wonderful and kind to the kids - we could not be more pleased, and Valerie Robinett is doing a fantastic job!
11/24/2009parentI have a 5 yr old that wakes me up every morning so that he can make it to school ontime. We love MPE. The staff is excellent. My son's teacher Ms. Fusi is the best.
9/16/2009parentThey are so awesome! The school is really small and cozy and they treat the kids like family. They are so sweet and wonderful. :)
10/2/2008parentHuge concern on each individual student.
10/10/2007parentWe moved into Mtn Park's district 1 year ago and we couldn't be happier. My 3rd grader loves his school. The teachers are helpful and responsive and the parents are very involved with the school.
9/21/2007parentThis is an awesome school! But their website is the worst. You can not email staff through the website as you can with most Gwinnett County Schools and you can not find out what is going on in the school! My son has been there for 3 years and with the exception of one teacher we have loved it and the AP took care of the problem right away. But I wish I felt more connected through the web.
8/25/2007parentI have 2 children at this school and have been pleased with the school and especially the academic curriculum. The teachers have been very helpful in providing that extra help when needed. The faculty and staff have developed additional resources like the math club to help those students master those skills. I am very impressed by the way the teachers develop the students' writing skills by having the students write and illustrate their own book which is then presented during their 'Publishing Party'. The school offers many other programs, such as music, art, literacy, computer lab, gifted, as well as after school programs. There is a strong PTA present which supports the school in those areas not funded by Gwinnett County, such as the accelerated reader program which develops literacy and comprehension skills, and the Everyday Math program which has been rolled out to all grade levels.
11/24/2006parentWe transferred here from Cobb County. I think the morning greeters are fine...every morning I drive my daughter to school. Every morning we get a 'Good morning!' with a big smile. The teachers and faculty are wonderful, very caring and welcoming. We love it here.
2/28/2006parentI would like to agree with the other parent regarding the teachers that get the kids out the cars. I think they need to greet with a nice smile and say hello or good morning to the parents and kids. But over all I like the school.
9/19/2005parentMy child transfered into this school from another district, and we were warmly welcomed. However, my child is behind and needs more help and support to catch up. Overall we are pleased with the staff and extra programs here.
9/19/2005parentEverything, except one thing, seems to be way above average - and for that I am extremely grateful for the individuals who make this school ROCK. As for the other thing - I am a customer service junkie, and am amazed at how unsmiling and unhappy the greeters at this school are. About 75% of the car rider monitors are about as friendly as a dead toad, and that is what they are expressing in their 'greeting the kids' mode - Their leader (the principal) needs to hold them accountable and somehow challenge them to either get happy, or leave.
10/21/2004parentI am a parent and this school is a very good school with an excellent administrative staff and overall very good and caring teachers.
8/25/2003parentThe school needs to work better with the parents when they try to get extra help for their children!
8/22/2003parentI have two children at Mountain Park and it's a great school. It is one of the smaller schools in our county due to being landlocked so the atmosphere is familiar and friendly. I'm always amazed at how many of the support staff know my kids names. There is a strong group of teachers and our experience has been very positive. They really have pushed my children to succeed. My daughter is in the gifted program and we have found it to be very challenging and enriching.
