12/14/2011parentThe staff of EC has helped my sons transition to a new school. They also hae a team of teachers helping my oldest cope with social issues. They are strict and run a tight ship, but students are challenged and learn in interactive and interesting ways. It's fair to say my sons have grown intellectually.
10/3/2008parentGreat school. I am an active parent/volunteer at this school. When reading other reviews, I saw the negative one re: bullying. While I am sure there are some problems in every school--any problem brought to the staff of this school is taken serious and investigated. My children love it. I did much investigation into the academics and curriculum of all schools in the area--public and private and this school is the best. The staff is top notch, the diversity only adds to the great quality. I guess this is why this school was chosen one of the 2 blue ribbon elementary schools for the entire state of Georgia for having the highest quality and the best test scores. You can't go wrong here!!!!
8/13/2008parentGreat school, great staff and active parents. Visited every school in Rome area, including private--this was the best--bar none!!
5/4/2007parentThis is one of the best schools in NW GA. EC prepared my children well for middle and high school; academics are top-notch and the gifted program is superb. The student body is extremely diverse, since the school draws from some of the wealthiest and poorest areas of Rome, but this can be a strength in that students learn how to get along with their peers. I only wish the Arts program were more fully supported. While my child was there, Art was dropped in favor of Music, but there was not enough interest to sustain an extracurricular Chorus program. However, the Rome Band program is one of the best in the state; 6th graders here get a great start.
3/27/2006parentthis school system is very bad.they have no idea of the trouble going on in these schools. my child comes home from school almost every day crying and she always has a story to tell about being bullied or mistreated by other students. other parents may disagree but i have a child who wishes she didn't have to go to school because of there poor ability to catch bad students in the classroom. they do notice students doing wrong on bus' and in the hall but in the classroom, where much of the bullying goes on, this is not taken care of, students bully others in the hall sometimes too.
3/11/2006parentI make a 30 minute drive to take my children to this school. The parent involvement, academics and teacher professionalism are the highest quality in NW GA. It is very much a 'tight ship'. Having said that, I do wish that the atmosphere could be a little lighter and a more fun rather than so competitively studious...I chalk this up to the personality of Rome City schools in general and not the personality of East Central in particular. My daughters have attended this school for three years and I am so grateful for the opportunity to send them...their experiences with the teachers have been very positive. This school also pulls from the wealthiest and poorest of Rome's neighborhoods...which can sometimes make for a discouraging amount of 'conspicuous consumption' conflict for children whose parents also work full time but cannot afford to keep up with the Jones's.
10/12/2005parentThis is a great school. my children have excelled since they have come here. The faculty is wonderful. I would recommend this school to anyone moving to this area.
2/23/2004parentThis is a great school and I would recommend any child in the Rome/Floyd County area to attend. My child is excelling academically and socially due to the wonderful staff at this school.
12/17/2003parentEast Central Elementary is the best option to educate a child in the city/county of Rome/Floyd in the public or private sector. I would compare its teachers, parent involvment, and overall academic program to any school in northwest Georgia. We are highly pleased with our children's proformance at East Central. There is a reason why it is a Georgia School of Excellence.
