5/5/2010parentI feel like it should be illegal to give a hurt child tylenol and send them back to class without contacting the parents. Therefore I feel like this is not a good school because they are more worried about their attendance record than the well being of the children. They would rather risk the life of a child then have an absence.
9/16/2009parentClose net school...like family. They work hard with our children and show true concern for their well-being.
8/24/2009parentIt is a small town but with that there is a smaller student body, smaller classes, and more attention on the individual. If there was an issue with my child, the teacher called me and was very nice and explained what was going on or what had happened. The teachers door was always open for me to come in to chat, I was even invited to come in on any morning to see what the class was doing and to see how my child was in the classroom setting. Amazing school and faculty, they helped my child get acclemented to a new school in the middle of the year as we are a military family and move around a lot. I no longer live in the Sardis area but would love to have my child attend SGA again.
4/29/2006parentIt is in fact a small town school which is the downfall of the whole school here at SGA. Unless you are a member of the community 'click', or a born-in-resident, you or your child is not accepted socially, among either the other students or the faculty. I have been very discouraged at the functions of the school and am now in the process of moving because of the change in my child since enrolled in this school. If I could, I'd give a zero star rating.
4/25/2006parentI read the review of the last parent, and I agree. I too, have had issues with the parental involvement situation there. I also would like to mention the fact that the resources are obsolete. If a child is 'gifted', (s)he must be bussed to another town 17 miles down the way to enjoy the priveledges of the gifted programs. The technology is behind the times. Many people do not even know what a Promethean Board or White Board is at SGA. Children in neighboring counties are doing PowerPoints in third grade and my {SGA} child only sees a computer at home. Recess time is too short. Many children are cooped up in homes all day and at school, they don't know what to do when they do have the chance to play. Children need to play. The faculty could be nicer to the parents too.
4/21/2006parentAs you enter the building, there is an easel which states the mission statement of SGA. One of which is 'parental involvement.' As a parent of a child who attends this school, I always feel dicouragement to be involved in my child's school. The morale is at an all-time low for me and several other parents. I am moving my child to the private school next year, so I can have more to do with my child's life in school.
4/21/2006parentSGA is the big heart of a small town. There are always bright smiles and warm hugs in the hallway. The atomosphere is filled with encouraging words from the entire staff inspiring students to exceed and maximize their potential. They have an accelerated reading(AR) program which challenges students to exceed in reading. The principals and teachers know every student. I am a former student of SGA, therefore I know personally the rewards of being an SGA Cub(mascot). SGA was a major deciding factor in my decision of where to buy a home. I wanted my children(8,6,2 years old)to be a part of its warm rewarding learning environment.
11/25/2003parentIt's a small town school where everyone gets to know everyone, so if this is the atmosphere you like then this is the school for your child(ren). This school encourages parent involvement. It's a Very pretty and Modern school and even the food is GREAT! There's alot of youthful teachers and a wonderful pre-K program. There's Chorus, girlscouts & boyscouts to name a few of the after school activities. I give it 4 STARS!!
