| 1/10/2012 | parent | I have children in 1st and 2nd grades and we are in our 3rd year at this school. Contrary to some of the other reviews on this page, I found the staff, administrators and fellow parents to be welcoming and friendly. It was a bit difficult at first because so many of the students that attend here have been going to Blessed Sacrament Church their entire lives, so they have a large "family" feel due to everyone's familiarity with each other. As outsiders (we are not catholic) we were welcomed with open arms and now feel like we are a part of this large family. This is what sold me on this school and I am glad we made the decision to send our kids here. The school is challenging, but there is plenty of help everywhere you turn. Manners and values are a large part of the curriculum here and we have found our children using "yes sir" aqnd "no thank you" much more these days. I would say the children here are much more polite than at any other school. There are a few bad eggs that may tease other kids, but all in all I have been overwhelmed with how the teachers are able to keep and entire gym-full of kids quiet and respectful. |
| 1/8/2012 | parent | I agree with most of the recent reviewers here, this school is not a good choice. The Teachers are downright snooty and a lot of the Children are very ill-mannered, the Parents- who do not speak AT ALL -act as if they own the school and have many little cliques that you will not be invited to join unless you fit ther "profile." My child is African American and within the 1st week of attendance he was called a monkey at least 20 times! Because he is a very trusting child he couldn't quite figure it out...afterwards it was Urkel, only resemblence is the fact that he wears glasses. Besides all of this, the Children receive homework in every subject nightly which is ridiculous and takes over 3 hours to complete. Even the coaches are terrible instructors who only allow the star athletes to participate in games, which is a waste of time and money. I have even been questioned by teachers concerning my finances because I don't believe in paying for trips ($$$) or extras until I see my Child's grades (my household rule). And, I make 6 figures! I will never recommend this school to anyone and can't wait until this term is over. |
| 7/17/2011 | other | Our grandchild attended this school for a short period of time and we were disgusted at how he and his parents were treated by staff. They may teach the building blocks of the Catholic religion here but the staff doesn't live those values from what our family experienced. |
| 6/14/2011 | parent | We moved here from outside Savannah and enrolled our children here. We found the staff and some parents to be extremely cliquey and judgmental. We didn't see the curriculum at the school as being as advanced and challenging as we were told at the open house. We moved from a state where the public schools are top notch and after having multiple bad experiences with teachers we researched some public schools in and around Savannah, moved to the district where the schools were exceptional and have found our children are happier, we are happier and the curriculum is either the same or better than what was taught here. Leaving BSS was the best decision we made for our family. |
| 6/13/2011 | parent | We recently removed our children from the school for several reasons. We found multiple administrators and teachers very difficult to work with and felt the mission of the school was not in line with the church and religious base it is associated with. There is a completely different thought process that functions in the running of the school than the warm, family oriented, welcoming environment that exists at the church. I would greatly caution parents who are looking at this school to explore all other school options. If your children do not fit a specific "type" or conform perfectly to what administration desires for their student body and student test scores you will have a very painful experience at this school. It is laughable to see advertisements from this school in magazines targeted at family with special needs children because they do not welcome, encourage or support children or families with students with any level of special needs, even the mildest forms. |
| 4/24/2010 | other | The entire staff is completely devoted to the children who attend this school and their parents as well. They instill love and the love of learning to their students. Who could want more than that for |
| 4/13/2010 | parent | I love it for the sense of community and family the children feel because of the fantastic staff and parent involvement. The academics are wonderful. |
| 10/20/2009 | teacher | It has the best teachers and administration in Savannah! |
| 9/30/2009 | other | I love BSA because of the select staff who make school unique. They help the students (including me at one point) grow as individuals. I am still close to a teacher from there because she helped shape me to the person I am today by example with her outstanding morals and values. |
| 9/28/2009 | parent | Blessed Sacrament school has a challenging curriculum taught by a nurturing staff. My kids are receiving an excellent education balanced with kindess and faith. We are grateful to be part of this loving family. |
| 9/26/2009 | parent | My daughter started Kindergarten this year and absolutely loves it. BSS stands out above the rest by offering a faith based education in a small, family oriented setting. I know we made the best choice for our daughters! |
| 9/24/2009 | parent | I send both my son and daughter to Blessed Sacrament. The one thing that overwhelmingly stands out about the student body is how polite, well grounded and altruistic they are as a whole. In today's climate of narcissism and divisiveness, the students of Blessed Sacrament give me hope for the character of future generations. |
| 9/24/2009 | parent | Blessed Sacrament is a school that not only has a good curriculum but teaches our boys/girls to WANT to do their best in everything they do !! |

| 9/20/2009 | parent | BSS priests, teachers and volunteers instill the values we teach at home at school. Feel the welcome, live the faith-based education. Open yourself and heart and reap the rewards of being a part of the Irish family! |

| 9/19/2009 | parent | Blessed Sacrament school has created a school environment that is caring, fun, energetic, and challenging academically. There is an overwhelming sense of community, school pride, and team work. I feel very lucky to be a part of this school family, and know my children are in excellent care each day when I drop them off. The teachers are all experienced and passionate about their work, and there are plenty of opportunities for students to be exposed to sports, arts, and other after school activities. We LOVE BSS!! |
| 9/19/2009 | parent | Blessed Sacrament is everything that is good about education. Great, caring faculty and administrators who actually know their students, a loving environment for kids to learn and grow, and a curriculum that gives them the foundation needed to succeed later in high school and beyond. | 9/18/2009 | parent | Belssed sacrament catholic school is one of the best schools in the nation. One of the reasons it is best is because the teachers are experienced, the students are encouraged and the parents let the teachers teach. It is a very nuturing environment for education, and one that helps every child succeed. Like the school moto, the students believe in teachers, the teachers and the parents beleive in the students, and ultimately, teh students come to believe in tehmselves. Great school. Terrific philosophy. And its working! |
| 9/18/2009 | parent | I love Blessed Sacrament School because I know my children are getting a good catholic education. The faculty really cares about the progress of each individual child. And when I leave my children in the mornings, I know my children are being well cared for. They are the best! |

| 9/18/2009 | parent | Blessed Sacrament is a great environment to educate a child. There is heavy religious education and a great community feel. This is the culture I want my children surrounded by. |
| 9/18/2009 | parent | Blessed Sacrament School has provided my daughter with wonderful skills. She comes home everyday with knowledge that she loves to share. She loves school and wants to go everyday. I know she is getting a wonderful academic education, but she is also learning her faith and starting her life long journey with Christ. |
| 9/18/2009 | parent | BSS is the finest school around. Great teachers, staff, parents and KIDS. We are so very blessed to have our son at Blessed Sacrament |
| 9/18/2009 | parent | Blessed Sacrament School is the only school that my children have attended that the parents are as much a part of the school as the students are. This bond enables the school to provide it's students the education that they need to be successful in collage and in their every day careers and life. |
| 9/18/2009 | parent | Best Catholic education in the city. The teachers are great. It feels like family. |
| 9/18/2009 | parent | The parents are so amazing with their time. Everyone works very hard to keep the school top notch, and raise money to keep the tuition low! It really shows. The quality of teachers is the best around. I believe it is the best school in Savannah. |

The kids get a great faith based education with strong emphasis on math and science at an early age. Would not leave unless I moved too far wawy to drive every day. |
| 9/17/2009 | parent | Blessed Sacrament is the most loving school in all of Savannah. We have the best Principal who is truly devoted to making it a better place. We have a wonderful group of teacher who give 110% everyday. |
| 9/17/2009 | parent | I love Blessed Sacrament School, because I went to school there when I was a child. My best friends today are the ones I met there. The best rules I live by are the ones I learn from Mrs. Jerry Horne, my BSS eighth grade teacher. I want the same for my three children, who go there now. |
| 9/17/2009 | parent | We love Blessed Sacrament because it such a great family. It is such a great place to be. You can feel it when you walk in the door. | 9/16/2009 | parent | I love Blessed Sacrament because everyone -teachers, staff, and parents are totally involved in the education and well-being of our children. We are more than a school community. We are a family. |
| 6/15/2009 | parent | I wrote a few years ago about how wonderfully BSS helped my child navigate pre-K (back in 2005). My son did have great teachers at BSS. Unfortunately, it all fell apart this year. My son started coming home crying, with daily notes, about his behavior. No other teacher ever saw the behavior that this teacher reported. I try to support the teachers, so I offered suggestions (I have an education degree) to both teacher and my son. I met with both the teacher and principal at a various times throughout the year. We wound up pulling him out of BSS that year and moved him elsewhere. My son is now thriving, has had no behavior problems, and has made honor roll each quarter at his new school. BSS is a good school, but it's not such a good fit if your child marches to a different drum. |
| 8/5/2008 | other | We left Blessed Sacrament because although they really talk about what a great school they are almost every single child gets on honor roll. Not every child should be an honor roll student. This school does not have students that traditionally test high for high schools (not public or Catholic) and so consequently every parent does like this school because they feel like their child is wonderful. My children did great here but the reality is that children need a challenge and not a 'feel good' approach. |
| 7/19/2008 | parent | If you came to this website to find a GREAT SCHOOL, you have in Blessed Sacrament. I have found BSS to offer the absolute best elementary and middle school experience for my children. Its hard to get into, because everyone in town knows what a treasure this school really is. But once you are in, your children will SOAR. What a wonderful administration and faculty! They understand that childhood education is a partnership between teachers, students and parents. And everyone BELIEVES in one another. What a truly GREAT SCHOOL. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. |
| 5/17/2007 | parent | We entered Blessed Sacrament three years ago very discouraged with Catholic education. After speaking with the principal, we decided to give BSS a try and have never looked back. My child was behind academically but with their constant support and quality programs my child has risen to the top of the class. The level of academics is challenging and all students are expected to rise to meet the expectations the teachers have set for them. Parent involvement is incredible. Great things are happening and parents want to be a part of it. Teachers need and want the parents involved, which is wonderful. The relationship at BSS is like a big family. We all support one another. What a great place to be! I look forward to our future there. |
| 3/22/2007 | parent | Our family moved here with the military and we are so lucky to have found Blessed Sacrament. I feel confident that my children will be prepared academically for high school and beyond. Blessed Sacrament sets the bar high. The teachers are amazing and expect a lot out of their students. The level of parent involvement is also exceptional. My children feel like they are part of a family at BSS, not just another student. In addition I am impressed by the level of respect the students give to one another. I don't have a single complaint about BSS. |
| 11/29/2005 | parent | This school has emerged from a difficult period involving leadership cahnges into a stable and secure new identity. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly--a very loving environment for your child. Tremendous parent involvement and caring, professional teachers. |
| 10/18/2004 | parent | Our daughter attended BSS from 4th-8th grades. 4th&5th were top notch, but,the coursework, projects and homework declined from 6th grade on. Loss of some excellent teachers facilitated this. Preparation for high school was mostly poor, and there was virtually no guidance in choosing a high school. Some excellent teachers remain, but not enough. Better management and less 'clique' based leadership needed. Recommend for lower grades only. |
