5/25/2011parentWe moved here last Aug. and my daughter was placed in Mrs. Acevedos class. I was lucky enough to be able to help out at the school and would have to say that it was a wonderful experience. All the teachers were so nice. We are moving back to Florida but I would definitely rate this a 5+ school. The PTA did alot for the school and I would also recommend joining that.
9/16/2009parentThe scholl has the kindest teachers and my children really enjoy going there. The school also works with the Atlanta Falcons football players at some time during the year for a fundraiser and that usually brings out alot of people and the kids get a chance for pictures and autographs:)
1/30/2009parentWe've been at Sycamore since it opened in 2003. i have 3 children attending and we love it. The teachers are wonderful and they continue to think outside the box on learning. My kids enjoy the school and the activities. The PTA is wonderful and active. They have provided a lot of parent involvement activities for parents. We may not be ranked #1 by some but I think we can compete with the best.
1/29/2009parentI have had a daughter at Sycamore for three years and our experience has been very good. Her teachers have been caring and thoughtful. And this year, she had the opportunity to be on the Dance Team - in the 3rd grade. I am not sure how many other elementary schools have that, so that was very nice. One negative was being in a trailer because of overcrowding, but when the new White Oak school opens, there should be no more trailers at Sycamore.
9/17/2008parentMy daughter has attended Sycamore since Kindergarten, the inaugeral year the school opened. This is her last year there as a 5th grader. We have had nothing but positive experiences. She has had very supportive teachers who helped her worked through any academic weaknesses and challenged her in areas of strength. She has taken part in wonderful extra curricular activities. We have felt that the teachers and administration listened to any concerns and were always willing to help work through them!
9/8/2008parentMy son has attended Sycamore Elem since the middle half of kindergarten and I have never felt so helpless. My experience has been that the teachers are very negative towards the children. I had to almost beg my son's first grade teacher to give him both positive and negative feedback instead of just giving negative feedback. You would have thought that I had two heads. I am very disappointed but am actively seeking a second job so that I can put my son into priviate school.
6/28/2007parentMy daughter attended this school from K-2nd grade.I was not impressed with the teachers. She felt as if the teachers didn't like her. This has affected the way she thinks about school. She doesn't want to go back. I didn't get the feeling that the staff nor teachers were warm and caring. I spoke to the Asst. Principal and was not made to feel that we could work through the problem. I also didn't like that PE is every 6 weeks on a rotation. I believe children need to excercise daily.
9/19/2006parentWe are new to this school, having come from a neighboring school and thus far, are very happy with the level of education for our 1st and 5th Grader. Both teachers are excellent and highly qualified. The school has many extra-curricular activities such as band, Strategy Games etc. The only thing that we are not that happy about, is that PE is only approx every six weeks, as the specials are done on weekly rotations.
8/26/2006parentI was very unhappy with the leadership (principal) at this school (school year 2005-2006). I have to wonder if the principal even likes children. Some of the rules were just plain ridiculous. The teachers however were wonderful. The extracurricular activities were fantastic. I didn't like the big land fill in the 'backyard' of the school- what were people thinking? Fortunately, I hear there is a new principal this year.
