A once- (now twice-) retired educator & administrator with 40 years of educational experience was hired in the fall of 2006 and initiated an 'extreme make-over'! Under his leadership, the school made dramatic gain in academic performance. Recent testing indicates LVS students perform on par with their peers statewide! As we continue to improve curriculum and foster a positive learning and educational environment, we anticipate continued improvement. Our alumni are heading off to college with self-confidence and scholarships in tow. As the school's current Principal, I expect our students to perform well academically while maintaining positive and respectful attitudes and behaviors. We also expect strong parental involvement and outstanding attendance. Our Star Student of the Week program honors the students who achieve those goals. | 11/13/2005 | parent | This school does injustice to the pupils it services. They advertise a religous/cultural enviorment in which the student is succeeding due to individual attention. In reality, most of the school days are spent doing extracurricular activities rather than academic work. My child's individual teacher had the best of intentions but was held down by the administrator who was over bearing and did not have the best interest of the children in mind; but rather a reputation for the school as a 'cultural enviorment'. The children were allowed to be violent and disrespectful to staff/other students. I transferred my child out in the middle of first grade, I should have done it sooner. She entered public school a full grade level behinde and almost failed; we had to enroll her in private turoring and summer school to pass. |
