| 10/2/2008 | parent | Correction to our September 30th Review...The Blue Ribbon Award is award to ten schools in each state every year...not to only ten schools in the nation, but regardless, it is a highly esteemed and coveted award and we feel Wilmot is rightly entitled to it. We also want to add that Wilmot is extremely helpful and caring to families with children of varying degrees of disabilities and challenges (our child having a minor challenge) and upon admission into first grade, discovered, diagnosed and tackled the problem head on, immediately, with not one, but several 'team' members who have grown especially close to our child and dear to our family...they have gone 'over and above' anything we would have expected from a public school. Wilmot should be commended for this alone...our child has thrived and truly enjoys school and the 'minor challenge' has improved dramatically because a number of people truly cared. |
| 7/8/2008 | parent | As far as academics, the school is generally good (like most North Shore schools) though not outstanding. The biggest drawback is that the social climate of the school is very cliqueish and exclusionary. Unless your child is part of the popular crowd or extreme academic elite, it can be very sad. There is no challenging academic program for students that are above average unless they are extraordinarily so. The physical facility is a tear-down (dirty, no A/C, parking and drop off/pick up are a nightmare). The Wilmot community think they are the best school and will tell you how great they are, but I have not found it so impressive. |
| 5/14/2006 | parent | We have had two children go through K-5th grade at this school and it has been a wonderful experience. The teachers worked with our children 1 on 1 when they really needed the help. When our one son was having difficulty in math, in the 4th grade, the teacher helped him before and after class and even reccomended a specific math tutor for him. The school has some great up-to-date resources and facilities such as, the computers, the library, and the athletics gym. I think that this school is a great example of a top-notch educational system in Deerfield. |
