12/13/2007studentAs an 'ex' student at Shawnee High School I feel that it is really missing good high quality teachers; the dicipline is not a stretched issue.
12/4/2007studentThere are almost no extracurricular activities. Discipline is focused on small infractions while major issues are often overlooked.
8/20/2007studentThough the 2007-2008 school year has yielded a new principal and administration, Shawnee is still lacking in its focus. Money is used almost solely on sports and agriculture, with all other extracurriculars gradually being phased out. Discipline is still not even.
4/14/2005former studentShawnee High is a small school that is sufficient for a high school education. In some areas it is deficient in providing college preparation; however, it allows for any student to perform to their ability if the student is willing to put forth the effort. I am grateful that was able to attend Shawnee instead of a larger school. The technology is sufficient and improving; albeit slow improvement. But with governmental cutbacks, how would one expect the schools to compensate? I completely disagree with the funding put into the sports programs and feel the money would be better served in other areas of academics such as the hard sciences. Overall, the school is good with needing improvements in certain fields; but what school isn t?
12/10/2004former studentAs a former student I felt my experience at Shawnee High School was very good. I felt the teaching staff actually cared about students performance, even when it was difficult to do so. I also felt the student/teacher ratio gave me the opportunity to interact more. As far as quality of education, I was sufficiently prepared for college and didn't experience any problems in the transition. The only thing I could say I feel I missed out on would be the variety of classes and programs many other schools offer, but I realize it would be difficult to have such a variety with the small enrollment.
11/16/2004studentThis school a minority don't go here!
5/27/2004parentThe teachers at the school are good. They are caring and very concerned about the students. The adminstration lacks. There is not fairness or consistency. The discipline depends on who your parents are. If you have a well known name, then you are set.
2/25/2004former studentI really think that this school does not prepare u enough for college. I went to school here in the past and I did not get a quality education. The principal and superintentend don't want to do anything. The music program is great they just need to give the school more funding so it could be better. This school does not offer the best training. If u want to be babysat then this is the school for your child.
