7/4/2012parentI had previously taken my son out of this school due to a few issues with teachers that was ignored by the Principle. I have re enrolled my son back there since the new principle and she has turned this school around for the better. Now I rate this school as a really good school/
5/18/2012other!!heyyyyyyy what ever blahhhhhhhh do not go to this school !!! people there r so messy
5/16/2012otherfights are liek crazy!, students are so disrespectful, and they have some cliches but other than dthat good school i go there! im not the best student i get mad at the teachers especially mrs ruppeert( sorry mrs ruppert) she talks about the students to the whole class... saying they in special ed and all that. n gets mad when u need to turn in a project but u dont. so yea u might have fun depends on if ure pretty or ugly thats all those kids care about! im not one of em tho
12/26/2011parentthis school is great,my daughter only in the america nine month, she speak a lot of english. And she tell me her favorite teacher is Mr o'neil.she very like that teacher. And she get very good grade.thank yu for all the teacher.
12/26/2011studentI love that school. My daughter she in the seventh grade.she in the america only nine month.she can speak a lot of english. And she tell me,her favorite teacher is Mr o'neil.Thank you Mr o'neil and all the teacher.
11/4/2011parentMy son was expelled after the school called me. They acted what had happened was not a big deal & did not need me to go there. Although I told them I could get the thruth out of my son so I went. In 2 minutes he told me the truth, but not everything. The detective who was there let the other boy go saying he did not do anything & there was no evidence on either except my son told the truth. They should have questioned the boys together, but did not. After getting my son home, the whole story (am sure some things are left out) When we went to meet with all to appeal, my son was scared (he said after the hearing) and that is why he did not speak out. Yes, my son is paying for what he did. I am just really mad at myself and my son. Neither of us mentioned the other boy. My children know that if they tell the truth it won't be as bad as if I would find out later. What my son did was really bad, but I feel the consequence given was not fair! I hope my son will still tell the truth, because he did tell the truth & I believe the consequence was not fair! Especially, not having the boys questioned together. The other boy did not get in trouble at all; how is that fair?
6/21/2011otherThis school is hard to understand. If u have any imperfections such as things u may think people may make fun of like short hair, cock eyed, and BO legged etc. people will talk about u in front ur face i know because i saw it happen with students there and i would say o that wrong or something but there is to many fights and very disrespectful students. so if u have a choice to pick this school i would say no don't do it,its better if u were here last year but if u weren't u up a creek without a paddle.
5/23/2011parentMy stepson is in the 8th grade special education classes. This school does very little to help your child be successful. One teacher in particular (Ms. Ruppert) suppossedly has a back ground in special ed but she belittles my son in front of other children. This school does not give all the accommidations that are needed for their success. I have a son that is going into middle school next year with a learning disability and my heart is grieved that this is the only middle school in my distrist (cant afford private) cause I know he will be pushed aside
9/2/2010parentMy stepson attends Meisler and is in special education. Only a person who he feels truly cares for him can keep his attention on school work. Ms Poche is an excellent teacher and it is a credit to Meisler Middle School for the attention they give to special needs children!! Thank you!!
8/5/2010otherI've got friends there and the school is really fun, BUT I RECOMMEND U NOT TO GO TO THAT SCHOOL, the teachers r nice BUT there are always a lot of fights there one time there was a HUGE FIGHT and teachers got hurt cuz they were trying to stop it and then the people that were fighting got arrested and then polices had to surround the school.
3/6/2010studentHi, I'm currently a 7th grader at Meisler and it's amazing. Of course it has those teenager cliches, but the school is great. The principle, Mr. Fallon, is one cool person, he goes around class sometimes, he's a busy guy though. He's in love with LSU, and we find it funny how the 8th grade Algebra teacher loves Tulane and they're against each other. It's amazing, I promise. It's better than Adams or Roosevelt. The teachers are cool and always finding a way to help. There's tutoring for math and English. And the pep rallys are always fun and excitement is high. So, yes, I would reccomend this school.
5/20/2008parentthsi school is an exellent school my daughter gets straight A's and B's at this school the teachers are so nice and helpfull to the students I highley reccomend this shool
1/25/2007former studentHI! I went to meisler for 7th grade and 8th grade last year. Meisler is an excellent school. The teachers are great, and whether u are in honors or in level II you are all treated the same way. It was very easy to make friends there. Tutoring after school is a must. Any teacher there is willing to help any student. Mr. Fallon, the Principal, is also one cool person. He's willing to listen to any students opinion. I liked Meisler from the first day I went there. I might be just a child but i highly recommend J.D. Meisler Middle School For any child
12/22/2006former studentI currently have one son at Meisler and my 16 year old went to Meisler as well. The one on one teacher involvement with each child has always been top quality. Discipline and safety is also a top priority at school which is of utmost importance to my husband and I. My husband and I are also former students of Meisler.
8/6/2006parentExcellent! Excellent! Excellent! Due to the hurricane, our daughter's private school did not reopen and we placed her in Meisler. We can't believe we wasted all of that money by sending her to a private school for so many years. The education she received was outstanding and the teachers extremely caring. Our daughter is gifted BUT due to a learning disability, struggles with math. She was in the highest(gifted) and lowest classes Meisler offered. The gifted(honors) English/resource teacher was outstanding as was her level I(average) reading teacher and her level II(lowest) math teacher. Meisler requires all students to work to the best of their ability and fairly enforces the rules, so that those students who want to learn may do so in a safe, caring environment.
11/22/2005parentMy experience with this school was not a pleasant one. I had one child that went through this school and I believe it made him lose interest in school. The teachers from my experience were not very interested in parent involvement. Everything was focused on behavior and what the student is doing wrong. I have not heard any good things about the school. I have since moved out of the area since I have 2 more children and did not want them to go through that school. I have a friend that her 3 children dropped out in jr. High. They have mean spirited people working in that school. They definitely need a change.'
9/9/2005studentHi, I have gone to Meisler for only about one year, and i already love it. I was supposed to start school for 8th grade, but Hurricane Katrina hit. I am a GT/Honors student also. We, at Meisler, have just about every sport you can think of, and then some. Our acedimics are very good too. My friends are in the other level classes, and they say their teachers are exelent also. We do have occasional fights, but our disiplinarians and deans, get them out of our way, and out of our sights, straight to our principal, Mr.Fallon. The parents are amazing there, they truly are. We have so many activities at Meisler, and everytime there are at least 10 parents at each one, and only two of them are the same.
5/9/2005studentMeisler Middle school is a very good school. I am in her last year at Meisler and my experience there was great. The academic programs are great. I am in BETA club and student council. I think that the extracurricular activities are great and also that we have the encouragement of our peers to do good in the activities. The parent involvement is very good. I have never seen a school where the parents are so eager to help till meisler. Overall, Meisler is an amzing school and should keep up it's spirit! -v-
4/3/2005former studentOverall, there is no school spirit and the teachers are subpar. I recently moved from the New Orleans area and the environmetal differences are evident. Outside of the Gifted/Honors classes, the teachers seem tired and uncaring for students. There is a feel of low standards as the halls are poorly decorated, and there are occasional fights. The cleanliness is questionable... With distinct odors in all poorly managed stations. Parental involvement is low and nutritional value is not emphasized. Lunch is overpriced and not worth it. Principal leadership is presented through strictness that isn't enforced. Guest speakers and school events aren't supported by students. There are limited activities that do not go beyond standard sports or acedemic clubs which students are forced to join at least one in higher classes. In my experiences there were no highly charismatic teachers that were true to their students, but just a cover.
9/16/2004parentMy son has begun his second year this year at Meisler. I am very satisfied with the education my child is receiving as well as the participation from the staff.
9/2/2003parentLast year my son started Meisler and I like all parents were scared abt him starting at a new school, especially middle school. But once I met everybody and got to know the school, I knew he was as safe there and as happy as much if not more as if he were home.
