| 4/4/2012 | parent | This is a really wonderful little school. Class sizes seem to hover around 18-22, I have had K through 2nd grade teachers and they have all been excellent. The "newer" principle has made wonderful improvements and the parent involvement is very strong/supportive. As an educator myself, not working at this school, I can say i am thrilled to have my children here. I think things were shaky here about 3 or 4 years ago as they went through some administrative challenges, but I would say they are headed back in the direction that earned them the presidential award that enticed us when we first moved to Rowley, about 10 years ago. |

She wasn't given help because she wasn't the best at math and they evaluated her because they thought she had a learning disability. When in actuality she just needed extra help. She got better with math when she reached the middle school. Truthfully, It would have been better for her if she didn't go to school there. Maybe they changed over the years with the retirement of older teachers. But when my daughter was there that school wasn't the best. |
| 10/2/2008 | parent | Getting a quality teacher here is very hit or miss and varies year to year. higher grades tend to have the better teachers. Lots of turnover not just last year but in the past few years show that something is up with administration and management, which have a bad reputation in the community. New principal is working on that but how much can one man do? This school needs SO MUCH HELP, both with its academic expectations of students which are low but also with its community outreach which is elitist at best. Save your child the nonsense and find a better nearby school, it wont be hard to do. |
| 9/7/2008 | parent | The reason for the turnover this year is due to the retirement of teachers that have been at Pine Grove for over twenty years! And it's not a problem at all because the administration only hires the cream of the crop to replace the retiring teachers. The talent of the teachers at Pine Grove is amazing and it only gets better as more young teachers are hired to challenge each and every child to do the best he or she is capable of doing. |

With that number of departures, there's a problem there. How stable can it be for the kids with so much turnover? |

She does well acedemically but is bored by the curriculum. There is little attempt at gearing activities and classwork to the above average student. |

| 2/23/2007 | parent | Expectations for children are high, but not communicated to parents or students to understand, leaving students frustrated and parents angry. Discipline issues go past what is written in the student handbook. Some teachers are so strict that the students in their rooms can barely breathe, while others are so lax that little learning occurs. This environment, along with a report card system understood only by administrators, is not a good situation for kids and is a set up for the legal system. |

Students are left to try and understand what is expected from them with no guidence the diciplin by certain teachers is unfair and the children are not explained the reason for the disiplin. The report card system needs to be explained to parents. The 1-4 system is confusing and based on how teachers grade the students, this system is unclear. A 3 is considerd average, yet this semester a 2 seems to be the average. This is confusing to me as a parent. I am not clear as to if my children are doing well or poorly. |
