| 5/25/2011 | other | Most all these reviews must be coming from the employees from the school.. This school is ranked #1875 out of 2065 schools per the state. This school is ranked #328 out of 415 in Wayne County. That is HORRIBLE and unacceptable !! I am a 37 year resident living across the street from this school and its total chaos in the mornings and afternoons. Buss drops your children off at 7:30 am, and they stand outside unsupervised until 8am .. CPS needs contacted !! |
| 1/25/2011 | parent | Thorne is a great school. They teach the foriegn language of Manderin to all students starting in kindergarten. My son is exceeds above the basic curriculum and his teacher works with him to meet his needs. Very satisfied with the leadership and involvement. |
| 5/11/2010 | parent | They care about their students!! They have small class sizes which allows them to work with each individual student. |
| 9/17/2009 | parent | my daughter was so in love with this school that when we moved we enrolled her in a new school. And come to find out that she hated it so much that the first week of 1st grade we had to switch her back and do school of choice so she would go to school without crying everyday.and they were more than happy to have her back.. Thank you!!! |
| 7/25/2008 | parent | My son attended kindergarten this past year at Thorne. I can't say enough about his teacher, she was excellent. She did soooo much for the kids, and really encouraged them to grow. My son is reading at a second grade level, and she helped him grow, and encouraged him. He was made student of the month, which also was very encouraging for him. I didn't have a lot of experience with the principle, but I know the kids love her, and the couple times I did see her, she was very kind. The rest of the office staff is wonderful as well. I just hope first grade is just as much of a wonderful experience!! |
| 6/11/2008 | parent | Thorne really encourages the students to excel. They make learning fun! my son will be featured in the reading hall of fame for reading the most books in the entire 2nd grade. Mrs Allen (2nd grade) and Mrs Johnson (1st grade) are excellent teachers. Thorne You Rock! |
| 5/20/2008 | parent | Average school with average teachers and principals. They deserve the '4' rating they received. |
| 5/10/2008 | parent | I love this school. My family and I moved from Texas to Michigan about 3years ago . My daughter has been attending Thorne ever since. I love it. She is in Special Education there and I could almost instantly seem a big improvement! She has really grown academically there! I would highly recommend this school to anyone. They really car about the children and learning..Thanks Thorne! |
| 1/9/2007 | parent | My son loves it here at Thorne! The teachers are very supportive and all the while he's been such a social butterfly. He gets good grades and he loves reading, computers and music. He's joined the Boy Scouts and has learned to sing and dance and recite a poem in the school programs. All of this for a first grader! |
| 6/18/2004 | parent | The teachers at Thorne are a wonderful bunch of people. They are caring and very concerned about your childs education. I have two daughters at the school they are entering the 3rd grade and 2nd grade and I am completely satisfied with their curriculum. My daughters both have read several hundred books and they both love to read and attend school. My youngest daughter had a slow start but with help and determination from the teachers and of course, home she has excelled beyond belief. Thanks Thorne School. |
| 4/8/2004 | parent | I have a 5 year old at thorne right now. I am amazed at the amount of things she has learned so far. She can read over 100 books already. I haven't met another group of 5 year olds that are as smart as ours are right now. |
| 9/9/2003 | parent | My family has been attending Thorne for the past 14 years. We have been very lucky to have this school. The teachers are the Greatest. The princapal is one of the best I have ever met. The staff of Thorne I can not say enough good things about them. When my youngest was very sick and away from school she had visits from many of the staff and recieved cards and gifts. Just because the school day ends does not stop the staff from Thorne from being part of our family. Thats what makes Thorne different from other school it is more like a family. |
