4/21/2011parentEaton Academy is not to bad of a school, but it does have it's down fall such as any other schools. What I truely don't like is the lack of communication from the teachers. You can never get a meeting with the principal, He is either never there or busy. As one parent stated in a 2008 comment their child received low grades because of missing assignments. It's 2011 and the same thing is still happening. One of my children went from National Honor Society to a 2.4, due to missing assignments. One teacher told my child she is not there to teach but to provide information, and this was a math class. Where are they finding these teachers. My high school child has had at least 5 english teachers in one school year. There are no extracurriculum activities for the students. Only sports is basketball and cheer. Due to these public schools closing, these charter schools have to step it up and offer more things for our kids to be involved. I have a child that will be graduating this year, and 3 other that will be returning. I am willing to give Eaton Academy one more year. I'm just hoping they make some major changes.
4/3/2010studentEaton Academy is A Very excellent School . I am A Eaton Academy graduate the Teachers are excellent and they challenge you to think for yourself While still Teaching you the Basic skills that u should know . This school teaches Excellence in Education and there are very few children that do no graduate from Eaton Academy
1/13/2010parentDo not send your child to this school it want to deal with teachers with bad attitudes and a school that has no languages, and no extracurricular activities. This is the honest truth. Sadly important issues do not get resolved just overlooked. T
8/26/2009studentI like eaton academy just wish we had more programs such as r.o.t.c for high schoolers...
8/5/2009parentthe special education department for the high school is not really good, they do not offer a lot of help, and they do not have a lot of extra activities. The high school teacher are not helpful, so if you have a child who is not good with their academics, please do not send them to this school, they will not receive the help they deserve, you might as well send them to a public school. my 9th grade student had two math classes and no gym, no music, no elective class.
6/19/2009parentThis is my child's first year at this school and the communication skills with the teacher is very low. The principal is not really involved with the elementary students. I have tried several times to have conference with the teacher regarding my childs progress and she always say she is unavailable. I think the need more help over there, they only have one teacher for each grade.
6/4/2009parentI think the teachers at Eaton Academy work very hard to ensure student success.
2/27/2009teacherI have to say that the teachers at Eaton Academy are VERY dedicated to our students' success and education! This is not only a career, but it has to be a passion, and it surely is for us! We work with some wonderful students and parents and make a great team. It is crucial for parents to reinforce what we teach at home and we are fortunate that MOST of our parents do this. I don't know what the elementary teachers would do without Mrs. Knierim (Mrs. K.) and her support, guidance, and wisdom! We are so lucky to have you.
2/26/2009parentMy 2nd grader has been going to Eaton since Kindergarten. She loves going and the children all seem well behaved and polite so far. All of her teachers so far have been very good, Ms Trombley, Ms Saelens and now Ms Schefke. They are all good and caring teachers. I have had nothing but good experiences so far the last 3 years.
12/1/2008parentEaton Academy has given my son the chance to learn and grow, his old school was full of violence and negative influences. Eaton seems to have a more diverse thing going on and I love it, so does my teenage son.!!
10/12/2008studentThis school lacks the Extra-curricular classes most students need to better themselves and get into college I.E other languages. At the moment there is an ACT prep and a College prep but that's only because the Gym Teacher quit. We need more classes that will make us stand out more to colleges.
9/12/2008studenti like eaton academy is a great school i attends there and i am so very happy Mr. White is a great principal. So is Mrs. K Eaton Acdemy is a fine school and Mrs. Monaghan, Mrs. Purdu, Ms. Murry, ect these are just some of the great teachers there
8/3/2008parentI think Eaton Academy is a wonderful school. My child was in Ms. Purdu's class last year and still talks about all the romanian facts they learned for the trip around the countries. Way to go Eaton!
5/30/2008otherI believe Eaton Academy is a very good school and with time has the ability to be an excellent school. Ms.Murray is an excellent teacher and an excellent leader she has taught my grandaughter many things and helped her excel in her studies, because of teachers like Ms.Murray my grandaughter loves school.
3/5/2008studentEaton Academy is a g great schhol. Before i sartted going there my grades were horrible. Now i understand the work and have very god grades. The teachers push you into working and they make sure that your parents know about your academic progress. I Love Eaton and i plan on staying there.
11/9/2007parentI believe that Eaton Academy is a Great school, I just love the teachers especially Mrs. Wheeler excellent teacher she has had both of my little girls, I am moving far away and I have to switch my two girls into another school but Mrs. Wheeler make's it very hard to leave that school I am almost willing to travel the distant's just so my girls can keep her as a teacher.
7/21/2007parentI think Eaton has done a fabulous job with our kids. They give a great deal of opportunity for parents to get involved in their child's education. My child will be returning next year!
7/11/2007staffI feel that Eaton Academy is an excellent school. The teachers are excellent and truly care about the students. They do offer many ways for the parents to get involved. The problem is that the same group of parents are the only ones that choose to get involved and help out. I'm anxious to see how this school will grow and progress over the next few years. Hopefully they'll be able to keep the same great teachers here at Eaton Academy. Keep up the good work!
6/25/2007parentThe staff seems look out for the best interest of each other not the children. My son's grades went from a's and b's to d's and f's in one semester because of missing assignments. The teacher did not find it necessary to alarm me. I am trying to find a new school as I write this. The meap scores are awful yet they have all these restrictions for the students.I am very unhappy with my childs progress at this school. The teacher gave him f's and stated it has nothing to do with his ability. he just did not turn in assignments. My child went to the regional spelling bee representing eaton but there was no one there from the school for support. he than recieved a d in spelling.
6/21/2007parentEaton Academy is a wonderful school it reminds me of when i was and went to a nice school that was clean and well managed. the principal is wonderful and stays involved with her students. I Love Eaton academy and all my children will go there.
6/14/2007parentA parent made the statement 'Every time I walk down by the 4th and 5th grade classrooms, I see viable student learning.' Well as I walk down the halls I experienced churlish, behavior from viable individuals hung up there personal beliefs, to teach anything. So, there you go same school two totally different accounts. Wrong examples to show young developing minds. Sorry wrong way to go. -Walter
6/7/2007parentMy child is just finishing up first grade at Eaton Academy. My child came to first not reading and left knowing 155 words. I truley belive I would not have seent his level of sucess at a Detroit or East Detroit Public school. I was very satisfied with my chid's teacher. I only wish the school offered elementary age kids with some after school programs. A
5/31/2007parentI think the teachers at Eaton Academy are doing a wonderful job. Every time I walk down by the 4th and 5th grade classrooms, I see viable student learning. Way to go Eaton!
1/10/2006parentAs a parent of a stundent that recently graduated from D.S.I.A comment of the academic programs. There are not any academic programs in this school. D.S.I.A has no extracurricular programs. The only sport that they do have is Basketball and everyone does'nt play Basketball. The Level of parent involvement I rate from 1-10 1 being the least is a 1. Most parents don't be involved is because [of] the Principal and Teachers.
