| 1/2/2012 | parent | My son is a kindergartener here. I feel that the teachers and administration do the best with what they have (which isn't much from the very challenged Lansing School District), but the parents at this school are AWFUL! I have not been to a school event yet where more than four other children from his class attended (out of 25). I see parents wear pajamas to drop their kids off in the morning and still wearing pajamas when they pick them up in the afternoon. It is nothing to hear an Elmhurst parent to stand on the sidewalk and scream obscenities at their children if they even attempt to play on the playground equipment after school. I even heard a CLASSROOM PARENT curse at her child IN THE CLASSROOM during a holiday party. I routinely seeing parents screaming at their child's teacher after school too. Bless these teachers for even showing up every day. My son won't be back next year. |
| 10/9/2010 | parent | The kids at the school are smart fun to be with. When you go to the school everyone is friendly and eager to learn. Our teachers are the best. |
| 4/14/2010 | parent | My son is stil in the kindergarden class and is reading at a first grade level. The teachers are all very caring and do their best to make sure that each student is enjoying the enter learning experience |
| 1/26/2009 | parent | Teachers are great, my daughter is doing is way above averge in her math. Teachers very involved and care on pupil studies. Just a few issues with other students interaction with each other |
| 5/4/2008 | parent | Elmhurst Pros and Cons: Pros: 1. The Staff members are wonderful 2. The PTA attempts to increase activities for the students. 3. The school appears to be in good condition Cons: 1. Parent Involvement! 80% of the parents do not care enough to assist with the student activities. Personally, I feel that some parents rely on Elmhurst to 'baby sit' their children. 2. Discipline! 3. Extra activities, but that can be blamed on the parents for not volunteering. District wide changes: 1. Rethink the Lunch menu in the Elementary schools 2. Detention should be made mandatory for those students who can not behave after receiving numerous warnings. Maybe this might encourage parents to get involved with their children s education. 3. Recess The district should encourage more recess or after school activities. |
| 8/26/2003 | parent | I would like to see Elmhurst do more extracurricular activities. Such as early instrument learning such as violin, piano, drums. Reading is very important and I don't think they put enough emphasis on it. |
