10/31/2012parentI have had a child enrolled at Eagle Creek for serveral years. We could not be happier with our choice. The teachers are excellant. They really care about their students and take a very caring roll in teaching, yet they continually challenge the students. Eagle Creek has a very family-friendly close-knit enviroment. They welcome all with open arms. We have fund-raisers every year that teach the children about giving back to the community. There are a lot of activities for the kids after school and extended field trips. Every year there is a camp- out for 3 days and last year the 5th-8th grade went to Space Camp. It has been a great experience for my child. The administration is very approachable with questions or concerns regarding your child. We made the right choice...
10/30/2012parentEagle Creek Academy is an OUTSTANDING choice for your children. Both my daughters have had amazingly positive experiences in ECA's Middle School. They had attended other schools previous to this, and, hands down, this school has been the absolute best. I have worked in education for over 20 years myself and have seen many different approaches to education, so I am a pretty tough critic! This school has met both my daughters' needs perfectly and they are very different learners. The teachers are very positive role models and always make learning fun and memorable. The principal is always available to answer any questions or concerns. She is honest, fair, and wholeheartedly a very caring person who truly wants the best for your child. I feel so fortunate for my girls to have had the experience of attending Eagle Creek Academy!
10/17/2012parentMy daughter is in her fourth school year at Eagle Creek. The Students, The Parents, The Teachers, and the Space/Place are all Wonderful. My daughter is excited to attend and learn and grow every day. The academic environment at Eagle Creek Academy is just amazing on all levels. If Eagle Creek is geographically acceptable, do your kids a favor and visit ECA at their next open house.
10/7/2012parentThe school has lovely facilities and some excellent teachers. However, you should take note of the reviews referring to the principal and her lack of ethics. In the review posted sept 6th - how this family was treated is not uncommon. My children have had a very good experience in the classroom but as time goes on this is overshadowed by a principal who is notorious difficult to deal with deal with. Any queries/concerns raised are often met with hostility and a response of "too bad", like the sept 6th review, and decisions seem to be made on a whim - one rule or policy today and something tomorrow, or a different rule depending on who is asking. I do commend the teachers, 3 out of the 4 we experienced were exceptional and the 4th was very good - with a principal like that, I imagine it is not the easiest working environment. BTW - there is no PTA, the principal dissolved it last year. So you can volunteer, you just can't make any decisions! Do some research before committing - ECA sits in the middle of a very good public school district and if you are paying that tuition, you want to be sure you are getting something that is better
9/26/2012teacherEagle Creek Academy is, without a doubt, a beautiful and well-appointed facility; however, it is what goes on within our walls that is key to a child s development. The heart and soul of our school is, and always has been, our teachers, our curriculum and our small-group approach to learning. Our pre-school program has been growing by leaps and bounds and, as such, we have had to become more creative with our space. Our new classroom is smaller than our other classrooms, but still larger than those found at other area pre-schools. In addition, it houses a smaller number of students. It is well-equipment with the same educational, free play and dramatic play items found in our other preschool classrooms. Most of the items are brand new. The classroom is bright and cheery and its dedicated bathroom is less than 8 feet away. Our pre-school teachers interface regularly to ensure that our pre-school program is taught consistently across all four classrooms.
9/6/2012parentECA's principal lacks ethics and is only concerned about taking people's money, so don't fall for her nonsense about how passionate she is about education. On our March 2012 tour of ECA, we were shown 3 bright, spacious PreK rooms (the website boasts most of the classrooms to be 1400 sq ft) with soaring ceilings and windows that view the wooded property. When we arrived to meet the teacher in Aug 2012, we discovered that our child's actual assigned classroom couldn't have been more than 250 sq ft with a small window and view of the parking lot - it was not on the tour. Large rooms may not be necessary to provide a good education, but the environment was the deciding factor that sold us on ECA. When we contacted the school to express our disappointment, the principal, who is also the founder and presumed designer of ECA since her family paid for it's construction, said little more than too bad and that we still owed the remainder of the years tuition b/c our contract is legally binding. ECA did not provide us what we thought we were paying for, they have not educated our child for ONE day, yet they think they are still entitled to our money. Sounds like a scam to me!
4/18/2012parentEagle Creek Academy has changed academic and social life for my kids. Beyond impressive. My oldest jumped more than 2 reading and math levels within months of attending and continues to thrive. Most important - she LOVES school and the atmosphere at her school and tells me so often. And they're working on International Baccalaureate certification which stresses critical thinking and an integrative approach to subject learning. This will be a big leg up in readying for upper grades. Also, I think it's the BEST tuition deal in the county for private school. Especially for middle school. With competition as it is now in any public or private high school, students MUST emerge from middle school ready to hit the ground running. These small 6, 7, and 8 grade classes focusing students on those critical skills will be ahead of the pack heading to high school.
2/22/2012otherAll I can say is beware...Yes, the facility is amazing, but looking past the surface beauty I wouldn't say there is much there. I'm sure some of the teachers are probably good, but the owner/principal is completely inappropriate. She actually stated to me that ECA did not have a student with learning disabilites. Really? Not one? I find this hard to believe. I seriously question her knowledge and real ability to run a school. She also likes to tell people how much money her family has and this is how she was able to open the school. Again, inappropriate. The class sizes are small...this can be a plus or a negative...little limiting on friendships which is also an important part of the whole school experience.
6/10/2011parentThis was our first year at Eagle Creek, and we couldn't be more pleased. Our children were in the third grade and junior kindergarten. We found the environment to be warm, the academics to be challenging but not overwhelming, and the staff was AMAZING. My children LOVED going to school, to the point that they wave to the school if we drive by on days off. Their teachers were not only well educated, but they really fostered my childrens' love of learning, and provided them with a safe, secure, and exciting learning environment. We feel that our expectations as well as our childrens' needs on an academic, social, and emotional level were met and exceeded. The children were encouraged to excel in their studies, and have fun doing so. I love that the classroom max of 28 students, and the student to teacher ratio of 14:1. I appreciate that the principal is consistently looking at ways to improve the school, it's value, and quality, and that she values parent input in those processes. My children felt important, loved, and valued. We feel that they are getting an excellent foundation that they will be able to carry through their school years and into whatever life brings them.
6/21/2010parentWe switched our kids to ECA this last year, because we were so disappointed with the local public school. We are so pleased that our kids have both had a wonderful year. The teachers were warm and encouraging, the students welcoming, and fellow parents so involved. Our kids learned so much and gained confidence. For anyone that is looking for individualized attention, the staff to student ratios are fantastic!
6/16/2010parentThe smaller class size is the number one reason we finally chose ECA for our children, followed by the quality of the teacher. Our kindergarten teacher was fantastic. She encouraged the children to excel and challenged them to exceed expectations. Because of the intimate class size she was able to fine-tune her approach to each child when teaching and the results were evident. ECA has a strong and nurturing community where children are really cared for by the faculty, administration and even the other families. The school knows every family by name. We receive weekly feedback from the teacher as well as the principal on how the kids are doing. The parent involvement is also wonderful. Great children great families. There isn t a family that walks by that doesn t smile or wave it is just a nice place to be and to be a part of. We are extremely happy.
6/14/2010parentWe decided to put our son at ECA because of their small class size and junior kindergarten program. As we come to the close of the 2009-2010 school year, we could not be more pleased with our decision to enroll our son at Eagle Creek. He is excelling academically and has matured incredibly well. The teachers made efforts to insure he had diverse experiences that has helped build a great foundation. The teachers have been absolutely fantastic. Also, as more students enrolled during the school year, ECA added teachers to maintain the class size to continue to insure the students recieved very focused learning opportunities.
5/2/2010parent2009-2010 is our first year at Eagle Creek. We enrolled for two major reasons: low student-to-teacher ratio and high academic standards. Smaller class size enables teachers to conduct assessments early in the academic year and design a specific learning plan for each child. My third grader received the one-on-one support she needing to improve her reading skills. High academic expectations are met because teachers can focus on each child s specific needs. My first grader started as an emerging reader; by April, she was reading at third grade level. The teachers are outstanding. They re easy to communicate with and truly care for their students. Kids can t be happy unless their teachers are happily employed! Our kids LOVE to come to school and thrive in this very individualized, caring environment. We were promised a LOT, and Eagle Creek has delivered. We re delighted!
2/2/2010parentMy children attended Eagle Creek and I became increasingly disappointed with the school. We were promised many extra curricular classes and quality classes when we signed up. It became aware to us very quickly that others were also promised many things and the owner had no intention on fulfilling her promises. We were told what she thought we wanted to hear until we signed the contract. Many parents I have talked to are also very angry. I do not recommend this school to anyone. The science program is weak. That is another thing that they told us that they excelled at. The school is cutting back dramatically and not letting anyone know ahead of time. The owner/principle is also impossible to deal with about this matter.
8/9/2009parentWe are very happy to be part of the Eagle Creek Community. Everyone there works together to provide the students with a wonderful educational experience. The small class sizes give the opportunity for the teachers to know the strengths and weaknesses of each student. You don't have to wait for conferences to know how your child is doing. The teachers are in constant communication with the parents through conversations before and after school, emails, phone calls, and weekly class newsletters. It is a great place to feel involved with your child's education.
8/7/2009parentMy husband and I are very fortunate in that we can choose where we send our daughter to school. This Fall, she will enter 7th grade--and this year marks the third year we've chosen Eagle Creek Academy. Initially drawn by ECA teacher and instructor profiles, curriculum, class size and the beauty of the facility, we quickly found it easy to establish productive partnerships with faculty, staff and other parents. We've found Cathy Rondeau to be open, flexible and clearly committed to excellence for the children at ECA. Our family is looking forward to another outstanding year with the ECA community.
8/6/2009parentWe have two children and switched from public last year. We wanted more challenge for our kids and individualized instruction and it has exceeded our expectations. The class sizes are perfect to allow interaction while allowing your child to move at the pace that is right for them. The kids know everyone in the school and have lots of friends across grade levels. The acedemics are exceptional and nurturing to boost self-confidence and grow and the teachers are superb. We had great teachers in public school as well but the smaller class sizes and the expectations of the school promote working harder to help your child succeed - in a subject they find difficult or one they excel in. It is a perfect environment to start their career and build the self confidence that will make them believe they can do anything!
8/5/2009parentI am a tough grader and realist. Five stars is virtually impossible to achieve, however, Eagle Creek is very close to it. We have two children who started two years ago and now our third child also will attend this year. The families, teachers and students make Eagle Creek a wonderful and positive environment in which to learn. As a 'young school,' Eagle Creek continues to improve itself year after year, and the owner really cares about what is best for the students, teachers and families. Parental and teacher feedback is considered and often implemented, and when it is not, a quantifiable justification is offered. Our family loves the extra-curricular / electives offered, such as Spanish (a native-speaking educator), technology, art, music and physical education. The diversity and small-sized classrooms allow our children to experience different cultures with ample guidance to foster advanced learning properly. We highly recommend this school.
8/5/2009parentMy two children started at Eagle Creek last year - one in Pre-K and one in Kindergarten. Prior to Eagle Creek, the kids were in a local Montessori. The thing that I have been most impressed with is how much the kids have loved the experience. The teachers created an environment that made the kids really enjoy learning and still provided excellent academics. So many nights, my kids talked about how much they love Eagle Creek. They were challenged, but not stressed. The kids did an admission visit at an out of state private school because we thought we might be moving. That school was obviously very impressed with what they had learned. Parents are very involved at Eagle Creek, and the environment is open and friendly. You and your kids will be happy with the choice!
8/5/2009parentWe transferred our children last year from public school to Eagle Creek Academy. I think it is important to know that we had been at our public school for 4 1/2 years and our children had no hesitation to leave and were very eager to attend Eagle Creek. This is largely due not only to the beautiful facility, but the warm, friendly, enthusiastic staff! They could not have made the transition any easier. Academically you can't go wrong with Eagle Creek. Small class sizes, challenging curriculum and motivated teachers lead to a positive learning environment. Teachers go above and beyond. Small class size allows instruction to be individualized. Art, PE, and Music are wonderful programs! Socially the school is like a family and children become friends across grade levels. As a parent and teacher for 17 years in the public sector, I highly recommend Eagle Creek!
8/5/2009parentWe started our son at Eagle Creek for JK and have not looked back. He'll start 1st grade this year. The small class sizes guarantee that each child receives individual attention. No child is forced to move ahead until he/she is ready. There is a nice variety of after-school activities and there is always room for more. The teachers and administrators actively seek out the opinion of parents and students and it is clear that the opinions are taken seriously. I love the smaller size because it really does feel like a family. It is sweet to see the older students greet my son by name. I cannot imagine my son attending any other school.
8/3/2009otherEagle Creek students average fourteen 45-minute electives per week, which is much more than most schools. Last year we eliminated 1 per grade level so we could have more time for science. It is true that we offer only a few after-school activities at any time, however, they are all really cool. Our chess team is ranked 1st in the state and 13th in the country. We have an IT guy for robotics, a professional magician for magic club, a certified gymnastics instructor, etc... We do have a small enrollment (about 100 per year) however we have low turnover (except the car company transferees moving out.) We are saddened that one of our families was unhappy after 2 years. Most parents will tell you we are honest and easy, and that we offer a lot for such a small place. We have a list of references if you would like. Thanks!
5/24/2009parentI wish we were not moving out of Michigan and could stay at Eagle Creek forever! This is the best school my children have ever attended.
4/13/2009parentWe attended Eagle Creek for two years and are disappointed with the services promised. In March, physical education and art classes were eliminated. Parents were not notified of these cut-backs. There are very few after-school activities available and many are taught/organized by parents or unqualified staff. The teachers and amenities are outstanding and truly make this school special. I have also met a lot of very nice families. But, because of the extremely small class sizes (enrollment is low and student turnover is high), many children do not find other students they click with. Also, if you have concerns, the owner/Principal, is difficult to deal with. The owner makes a lot of promises to get your money. Get her commitments in writing, before you give them a dime.
4/22/2008parentMy daughter started Eagle Creek in the fall of 2007 in their full-day PreK program. She is so happy to go to school everyday, she is learning a lot, and enjoying every single day. We thank all the teachers and the staff who make it a really special place for the kids (and the parents). Highly recommend this school!
