9/20/2011parentThat's a shame that some parents have no idea what goes on in the classroom. My daughter had an amazing experience in the sixth grade with this dynamic team of teachers. English? My daughter came out a stronger writer than ever because of what and how it was taught. That will take her far in life. I pay very close attention to what goes on in the classroom, and I cannot wait for my next child to experience the teachers in sixth grade. We feel blessed, our children have experienced wonderful teachers all along at Morgan. My oldest was very well prepared for junior high. It is a shame to pass along such false information.
9/16/2011parentMy child came from a school that was closed and spent 6th grade at Morgan. I cannot begin to tell you how bad Morgan was. The three 6th grade teachers DO NOT prepare the kids for middle school. Lots of movies in the pm, no English taught, too much free time for the kids so too much drama. If I had to to it over I would have taken my child to a different school.
3/8/2011parentMorgan is a great school with wonderful teachers. We moved out of state and I miss Morgan terribly. My children excelled at Morgan. When we move back next year we will make sure to buy a house that is close to this school. The person who posted last year about this school being rotten couldn't even post a well written comment with proper grammar. Consider the source.
3/3/2011parentGREAT Teachers & School! I would recommend this school to anyone looking for the best teachers.
3/13/2010parentThis is a terrible school. The professionism is rotten. The only time people rate great is when theres not a problem. however, having a special needs child is a whole new pie. They want to co-taught the student with no real supports in place. The terminology has to be fine toothed since 'resource room' simply means a learning center teacher poppin in and outta ge. where of course the child is lost and totally scared to death. This is to save their rating. They also want to limit cognitive impaired classroom. I say what the student needs they ought to get. Utica doesn't care about the student only the cash flow.
2/22/2010parentMorgan is an excellent school. I am very pleased with the teaching staff and learning opportunities for my children. They also have fun after school events. I have opportunity to volunteer in the classrooms as well as other special events.
3/31/2009parentSince the school decided to apply for blue ribbon there have been some improvements - a homework club after school on wednesdays and thursdays for students who need it. There are some excellent teachers, but the leadership continues to lag behind other schools in the area. He actually allowed the first grade teachers to take off every Monday in lieu of having an aide - until the parents escalated up to the board and he was overruled. What leadership would allow first graders to have a teacher absent 20% of the time?
4/30/2007parentThe longer my children are at this school, the more I wish we lived in a different subdivision so that we could go to Switzer, Duncan or one of the other excellent schools around us. I have had a few incidents where my communication to the principal's office was ignored. There are some wonderful teachers there, but there are too many who are out a great deal of the year on personal time - this isn't conducive to learning. Overall, truely disappointed.
5/31/2006parentWe moved to the area from the historically outstanding Fair Fax county, VA school system...and Utica schools are every bit as good. We couldn't have been happier with this school and district. Our only regret is that the military is moving us from this wonderful and high-quality school system.
1/3/2006parentCaring teachers and staff. Good parent involvement and organized events. Great science olympiad program and other activities.
8/16/2005parentOverall we have had no complaints. The school is in need of some renovating. However a science/art wing has been added to the school. The class rooms were a little overcrowed but some of the students will be attending a new school that has opened in the area. The teachers my child has had the past two years have been great. There is alot of parent involvement in the class rooms. Overall children seem to be happy while attending school.
4/1/2005parentMy 6 year old son has a great teacher, but the facility itself is lacking. Most of the older kids are in portables because of overcrowding, first grade sit at round tables which isn't conducive to learning, there are no lockers so they have to bring everything they need every day, including gym shoes. The building is old and in need of decent HVAC. When I went to the parent teacher conference, only 7 parents were signed up, out of a class of 24 students. They do have high school students come and help out in the classroom, and moms volunteer to help on different days. Like most schools, there is way too much fund raising, and alot of peer pressure to buy candy bars and other unhealthy food for fund raisers. There is no homework in first grade here, although other elementary schools in the district do have homework.
