| 1/4/2010 | parent | This school is great it has alot of technology and it has just been built over. |
| 9/16/2009 | parent | Long Branch High School is a newly built school that now has bigger classrooms, new security system, bigger science labs...let's put it this way: the newer school is so much better than the school before the remodeling. |
| 4/29/2008 | student | Its an excellent school, good teachers their very fair, good curiculems, and great teaching programs...I LOVE IT!!! |
| 3/3/2008 | parent | Great school...my kid went their and now goes to MIT. |
| 2/18/2008 | teacher | Long branch high school is a great place and every one has great school sprite, but no freedom or leeway fro students at all overall it a great school with great kids. |
| 1/31/2008 | student | I loved going to LB school. |
| 1/14/2008 | student | Long Branch is a great school. I'm currently a sophmore there and feel that the teachers and administration care a lot about are futures. |
| 11/12/2007 | parent | My child attended the LB Public school system and graduated from LBHS recently. We found teachers who were dedicated to making a difference in the students' lives. The quality of the academic programs offered depended on many things such as the students' individual needs and levels. The school offers many extracurricular activities and even offers tutoring before and after school. If a child is willing to try there is no reason why he or she should not succeed. Parental involvement in seriously lacking except for the gifted and accelerated programs. Perhaps this why those students are successful. Administration does not seem to value the parents, students or teachers. |
| 11/10/2007 | former student | I recently graduated from LBHS, and I have to say it has good potential to be a good school but right now it s still lagging behind. The extracurricular activities are at a good level, with a very good band, great soccer team, and the other arts are up there too. I believe one of the major problems with the school is that teachers don t get enough free will to teach the classes as they please, they are forced to teach straight from the book and can take few liberties to help students in a more unorthodox way, which is what I believe is keeping the students from acceding to their full potential. On an overall scale the teachers are good, and many go above and beyond to teach their students. |
| 6/21/2007 | teacher | I taught at Long Branch for two weeks. Total lack of discipline and rampant chaos throughout the school. At least in the Liberal Arts LBHS was a disaster. One star is a generous rating |
| 6/13/2006 | parent | The countdown has begun. June 16th will be the last day for my child in the animal house. Low class teachers and students is what roam those halls. Bless whomever stays there. |
| 6/13/2006 | former student | Great all around school, great acdemic programs, great extracurricular activites, parents are always involed |
| 3/17/2006 | former student | The teachers and staff do the best with what they have. They truly care about the kids and try to make their lives better. |
| 2/15/2006 | parent | As a parent of a recent graduate who is now at a highly competitive college, I feel compelled to share my child's comments concerning his years at LBHS. Although he took all -- and I mean every one -- of the most challenging courses at LBHS, he felt ill-prepared for the academic rigors he is now facing. If you have a choice about which high school your children attend, you may well wish to look elsewhere. Do not be misled by the 'number' of students who take AP courses: ask the administration how they scored on the AP exams, and review the SAT scores and standardized test results before committing your child to this school. |
| 11/3/2005 | former student | I am a former student of this school. When I went here I did not know how well I was educated until I left this state and went to another. I found out when I had my own children that what I learned is much more than what they are learning now. The quality of the classes is by far much better at this school than at others. I went to college twenty years after I graduated here and I still know more that the student who just graduated from high school. The availability of the music and other programs here ( I was involved in the band and soccer as well as other activities) has more appeal here than where I am at now. Because of the size of the town the Parental involvement is on a higher level. When I go to meeting here no parents are around |
| 10/31/2005 | former student | LOng Branch High is one of the dreatest schools i know. It is a diverse school wih different people and cultures. . Teachers for the most part are great. The principal is one of the best there is. I dont think there is any other principal anywhere, that has shuch a good ond with students as he does. . . |
| 3/30/2005 | parent | Long Branch High School is a great place to send your kids. Its a diverse school which is good because your child can learn about people from other backrounds. In my opinion if you are moving into the long branch area, the high school is a great place to send your kids! |
| 12/27/2004 | parent | Long branch has its ups , but more downs. Everything revolves around football, forget trying to do another sport. There are too many teachers their that are interested in their paychecks and the administration had a huge power trip to get over. The principle is definately an up, he is a great person and is atuned to the child and parents needs. One side of the tracks is extremely upper class, and the other side is lower class, in which all the kids believe is the true ghetto, when in actuality it is a great place. |
| 7/15/2004 | parent | Long Branch High School has an amazing arts department. The principal is one of the most dedicated men I know. If you are thinking about allowing your student to attend LBHS, it is important that he or she has already set goals for themselves. It is easy to fall into a bad crowd, but there is a large majority of students and teachers that are willing to work diligently toward a fine education. Allow your student to join clubs such as the band or the CEA(Clean Earth Act) club. There you will find the right type of student to allow your son or daughter to excel. |
| 1/30/2004 | parent | In my opinion: LBHS has outstanding extracurricular programs in Music and Performing Arts, and a dynamic and effective Principal. However, its AP courses are largely ineffective and its college admissions record is less-than-desirable. The school also suffers from being in an 'Abbott District,' which classifies all schools in Long Branch as failing schools. A student can obtain a good education here, but the risks and probabilities are not favorable. |
