2/9/2012parentI visited this school (plainsboro) as a prospective parent. The school is expensive but impressive. What put me off was that for full day program (that starts at 8am) there is no assigned nap time. I believe NJ law requires ALL children under 5 to have a nap time. How has this school bypassed this requirement? For a working parent , education goes hand in hand with a well rested, well fed child. To start school at 8am the child wakes up very early and this school does not have assigned nap times (with cots). The director mentioned to me that toddlers "rest" in library (with head on tables) and preschoolers don't get even that! They just lost a student and maybe many others because of this. This needs to be amended quickly. Why should I pay lot of money to have a cranky kid in the evening?
1/21/2012parentThis school has changed principles and perhaps has improved since the last reviews were completed. My son has attended since September of 2011 and I have seen him really advance in the last few months. He is more willing to listen, sit still, knows his letters, numbers. He enjoys the art, music and physical programs. Would he have picked these skills up elsewhere? Entirely likely! I think we as parents make a mistake in thinking that by paying a lot of money we are guaranteed to see our kids succeed quickly. My son is very stubborn and resists learning new things. I had hoped by enrolling him in a Montessori program that he would suddenly start to "love" school, but am realizing that personalities just don't change like that. I am no longer sold that the Montessori program is the "best" but I do think that my son's teachers have put a lot of effort in working with my son to help him learn these skills.
11/6/2010parentHad a child in this school for 2 years. Lead teachers were good but not impressed with assistant teachers. Administration rude, nasty, hateful to staff and to parents. All the owners cared about was money. Rigid, unyielding admin. Had we known what we do now we would never have signed up in the first place. Afterschool wildly expensive. Teachers not paid anywhere near what they deserved. Constant need to spend money to help school with adequate supplies and snacks. Most staff either suck up to administration or get fired for being kind to parents. Not a healthy environment for students or staff. Avoid!
11/5/2010parentMy son had a very bad experience with a teacher in the school. she was speaking Indian language to kids though my son being Indian does not know that particular language she speaks. she was very rough on kids and bad thing she was the lead teacher. I had a hard time talking with the principal as they argued this is the kids nature and there is nothing wrong with teacher. since I had a contract with them signed before school started I had to send my kid to a diffrent branch. Luckily other branch I got a nice teacher Ms. Gueco. but I am happy we moved to another state that made my son always enjoy school.
2/1/2010parentI had two kids go through the elementary grades in this school; with my daughter graduating from 3rd (primary) grade in 2007. Inspite of being among the brightest in Montessori, she was way behind the educational level of other kids in her class. After 4 years in the school, our departure from the school was not very pleasant as the principal stated that the new school was no comparison to Montessori Day School. Now that my daughter is applying to 7th grade in another school (we moved from NJ), I called Montessori for her third grade school records. The lady who answered the phone laughed and asked me if I was kidding. Not only did we get bad communication from teachers and principal a low education standard, it is harder for us to apply in other schools due to the attitude of the administration. Total waste of money!
12/4/2008parentPrincipal is extremely rude. Bad communication channel between parents and teachers. We cannot communicate through email with the teachers. Unable to get information about progress of your own child. High teacher turnover.
11/18/2008parentRude principal. Very high teacher turnover. Not worth the money spend in sending your kids to this school.
9/29/2008parentMy son is doing so well at Montessori Country Day. He has freedom of choice and is advancing faster than the public school children. The uniforms are very cute and the children are well socialized. The school offers weekly swimming and french classes twice a week.
5/2/2008parentLack of respect for parents, teachers, and students from administration. Lack of ethics. Extremely high teacher turnover. School does not meet their advertised claims. Most students who stay on for higher grade levels have learning challenges and would not be successful in most other schools.
4/1/2008parentWonderful experience! My daughter loves to come here every day and her teachers have been exceptional. While I'm at work, I know she is safe and getting a great education.
5/22/2007teacherLack of supplies, high parent and teacher turnover.
