6/22/2011studentA recent alumnus of RHS, I have found that the academic rigor and community at the school has undoubtedly prepared me for entering college and the workplace. The school offers a wide swath of AP classes, reinforced by excellent and approachable teachers that encourage enthusiasm for the material. Moreover, numerous friends I've talked to have mentioned an easy adjustment to college essays thanks to their high school experiences. While RHS not only builds an academic foundation, the community is also quite strong; I absolutely loved about five or six classes not only because of the teachers, but also because it was so much fun to interact with the rest of the people in the class. I bumped into someone from high school who I hadn't seen for two years, and we were reminiscing about some of those very classes. All in all, I would highly recommend RHS.

2/24/2009studentI had attended this school for the 2001-2005 school year. My experience is somewhat different from others since I was a classified student. I had been placed in the Special Education program at RHS during my four years. The special ed. teachers were all wonderful and readily available for helping us and they truly cared about us and our well being, wanting nothing but the best for us and wanting us to succeed to the fullest of our abilities. It is the rest of the high school faculty who were not apart of the special education world that made us stand out like sore thumbs. I felt, and I know my peers felt the same way, that we were treated as we had a infectious disease and we were treated as such. Ridgewood is all about image!!!

3/25/2006parentI am the mother of three daughters who attended the Ridgewood High School. I would highly recommend this school district and high school to anyone who is considering moving to this area or sending their child here. All three of my daughters were able to benefit from the programs here. One of my daughters was a part of the French Club where she was able to learn about the French Culture in a fun/enthusiastic setting while also practicing her French language. This is only one of many clubs available to students. My other daughter was fortunate to have many wonderful teachers who were readily available for extra help on a need-be basis. She was especially moved by one of her teachers who had a lasting impact on her. My final daughter, benefited from the extra-curricular activities that were one of many offered by the school. Wonderful school system!
3/14/2006parentFantastic school. Feels like a college campus. Amazing specials classes such as an Art/History/English/Theater class that uses history as the foundation to bring all subjects together and add depth. Caring, dedicated teachers.
1/1/2006parentThe school is great academically. Both of my kids graduated from there. However, they could hire younger teachers with fresher ideas.
10/12/2005parentRidgewood High School is top notch. Course offerings are extensive. Teachers are terrific. The best thing about RHS is the degree to which the kids are respected and treated well. This school is better than any private school I know of.
6/14/2005former studentRidgewood High School has been blessed with a series of outstanding Principals and a top-notch faculty. Their strength is in academics. Athletics and Extra-Curricular activities have been historically strong, but are second to the focus on academics. The faculty has excellant credentials and provide an education sceond to none. It was my experience that some of the faculty, particularly history and social studies, tends to be very liberal in their 'view of the world' and it reflects in their teaching. The overall currculum is excellent and provides a wide breadth of honors and AP courses. Teachers range from good to outstanding and truly care about the students. This is a highly paid faculty that is well prepared, continually adding to their professional and academic skills, and focused on delivering a quality education. The percent of students attending and excelling in College has always been a strong quality of RHS.
1/28/2005parentThe principal has an academic degree, indispensable to keeping academic standards high: therefore, it makes sense that RHS is known for academic excellence. The high caliber, caring, and enthusiasm of the faculty and school administration could not have been sustained without the principal s leadership in setting the right tone, making it clear that qualities like respect, hard work, creativity, and excellence matter.
11/3/2003parentRHS has really impressed me! I receive at least one newsletter a week, keeping up-to-date on the activities at the school. This regular information feed allows me to have educated conversations with my daughter about her school's day-to-day, opening up her interest in school (in order to keep up with Mom). Teacher care!! I get feedback, even when my B student drops to a D on a single test score. On parent night, there must have been an 80% turnout! People care in this town! A great place for kids of all ages!
8/21/2003parentPrincipal is an academic not a leader which is needed thus allowing for poor discipline and little control over faculty. New superintendent might help. Academic currciulum excellent offering wide breadth of honors and AP courses. Extracurricular activities the best around the area. Teachers range from adequate to excellent. Highly paid faculty. Need to create a better environment to attract better teachers.
